I am preparing a moon shaped epoxy lamp using star wars ship figures.
I heated a plastic transparent pipe with a hot air gun and gave it a flat shape.
In this way, I obtained a tube to place the led.

Frosted tube in the center would have hid that led strip but it would loose that star like shine it gives off. Well done.

How does the on/off button work? It is a great design, it’s great how it doesn’t distract from the base.

Absolutely amazing work! I have always loved the pairing of epoxy with wood, they seem made for each other. Can you say where you get those amazing pieces of wood you create your magic with? I don’t have the wood shop I wish I did so I will never have the chance to create such beauty. I’m a bit over the hill to start to learn something new, I just love to see it being created. I love it when KZfaq pops up new artists to follow. I’m glad they sent me yours.

I source the wood from local vendors in my country. I used olive wood for the crescent part and walnut wood for the base.

I really like what you did here! Such a cool concept that you executed very well. Out of curiosity, why did you use stands (which remained visible) for the ships instead of just doing two pours and suspending placing the ships on top of the first pour? Also, have you though of using LED filaments for your lighting? It'd be a more even light and you could even create weapon's firing from one ship to another!

Yes, I thought about pouring in layers but I decided to pour it in one go so I ended up using epoxy sticks. When I do this kind of work in the future, I will do it in layers. I thought of using flament led, but I don't prefer to give the image of fire from ship to ship. If the leds imprisoned in the epoxy break down after a while, they cannot be replaced, so I did not think of using them this way. If I can find a replaceable filament led method in the future, I might try making epoxy dioramas as you mentioned.

@@atasoy That's a good point about the failing LEDs. Honestly, I've wondered about their failure rate in other epoxy builds with embedded LEDs and just figured it must not be a huge problem. That said, even in this project, I imagin you could have swapped out the strip for the filaments and make a more even light. Regardless, I'm in awe of you work. Very, very cool and I look forward to watching more of your videos!

1)In order to minimize the bubbles on the wood, you should apply a thin layer of epoxy to the Wood surface with a brush. After drying, the main casting should be done. 2)Polishing takes approximately 10-20 minutes. (except sanding stage)

Epoksi karıştırılırken hava kabarcıkları oluşur. Bunları gidermek için vakumlama işlemi yapıyorum. Epoksi içindeki hava çekilerek minimum kabarcıklı bir çalışma elde edilir.

I used cardboard. I covered the surface with large clear tape to prevent the epoxy from sticking to the cardboard.

how does the resin doens't get hot for that amount and solidifies immediately? I mixed less than that amount and it solidified so quick and so much bubbles that i lost all my work. Does the vacuum chamber prevents it happening?

The vacuum chamber minimizes the formation of bubbles. If it hardens quickly, check the epoxy you use. There are epoxy types for different purposes, the epoxy you use can be thin cast epoxy. In such works, you should use deep pour type epoxy. Задумка не плохая, хороший ночник для ребенка, но есть пара "но", добавить акб, диммирование, другую ленту в идеале умные rgb с более плотным размещением, добавить фильтр для сглаживания контура светодиодов и как вариант крепление под потолком или на стене, цены светильнику не будет.

Anyone know why he painted resin on the black parts of the moon? Was it to protect the paint from the resin or to keep the color from leeching into the work? If so why not paint the ships beforehand as well. I ask because im about to start my first resin piece and i have a hand painted part im placing inside and i wondered if i should precoat it
