George Lucas also didn't want to originally direct the prequels. He just wanted to write but couldnt find anyone to do it. George knows his limits as a Director which was one of the reason's he got Spielberg to do Indiana Jones. He reached out to Spielberg and Ron Howard to direct the pre-quels during the time but their schedules were tied. And remember Empire Strikes Back was directed by Irvin Kershner and Return of the Jedi was Directed by Richard Marquand

Every film making process requires tumultuous effort and hardwork, but the prequels are still sheet.
@hyperrunner85314 жыл бұрын
@@carmineglitch They're not, they're mostly good, but with lots of writing and dialog faults because George basically wrote the scripts at the last minute of every prequel movie, I think some of them were even 1st drafts too which is just absurd, and with no one challenging him on any of the writing ideas, its no wonder that despite all the immense hard work everyone had to go through the prequels never lived up to their potential, its actually a miracle these movies turned out half decent, writing a script long after your movie has gone into production and finishing it the day before principle photography is just ridiculous movie suicide, I don't know what George was thinking, if George had simply spent more time refining his scripts and also letting a skilled writer co write with him to make sure all the ideas work and all the dialog sounds good then the prequels would have been masterpieces, because the ideas are really strong but were clumsily executed, I don't know why George didn't play it safe like he did on episode 5 and 6, he even said he hates writing scripts and isn't a big fan of directing either, I think he mostly likes the creative side of movie making.

I watched a video from this channel that is all about nostalgia from the 50s/60s-80s. And they made a video complaining about the prequel trilogy because it used so much cgi and how they didn't use real, physical models and stuff like that. But then I come and watch these webisodes and say to myself, "Man, look at all that cgi they used" (in a sarcastic voice of course)
@AndrewChapman4 жыл бұрын
That's why I love watching the Blu-ray features and certain KZfaq videos regarding the visual effects on the prequels. Cuz they actually show what were CGI and what were practical effects. Even Jar Jar Binks wasn't CGI in every single shot as they'd made an actual suit for Ahmed Best to wear for certain shots.

George & Rick were a dream team. Lucasfilm badly needs them back onboard for the new films. Rick in particular was great, he had his finger in every pie regardless of whether or not he had to. Lovely guy with a lot of passion for the franchise & medium as a whole. It speaks volumes that the PT cast & crew recall working with him so fondly whereas the ST cast & crew barely ever mention Kathleen & always seem irritated by her in interviews.

The Phantom Menace is the second best Star Wars movie in my opinion. I understand if people didn't like the movie back in 1999, but it did not deserve to be trashed at all. It was one of the most technologically advanced movies of its time and took so much work. Not only that, but in my opinion, the story was so nicely timed and placed.
