There was an animated series called Droids which followed C-3P0, R2-D2, and their string of owners prior to A New Hope. If you do watch it, keep in mind that it was barely cannon then and it isn't a part of their official history since Disney bought the franchise.

In the original screenplay George Lucas had originally called the Force the Weird Ass Connection, but decided the Force was more straightforward. In regards to no blood when Luke gets his hand cut off, the light saber is also very hot so it seals the wound at the same time. In olden days when a person had a limb amputated the medics would in fact seal it witha hot iron to stop the bleeding. Lucas was in a really bad car accident in his early years and this likely inspired his obsession with damaged limbs. His best movie IMO is American Graffiti, which I hope you see soon. 👍💕

@Fyrecide You must remember that when these movies first came out, fans didn't know any of the family relation stuff (Darth Vader being corrupted Anakin Skywalker or Luke & Leia being siblings [and the children of Anakin & Padame]) and so, some actively shipped LukeXLeia rather than HanXLeia until the reveal in the 3rd (technically 6th) movie that the prior 2 are brother and sister. The Muppets even played this for laughs when Luke Skywalker (who was dressed in his _Empire Strikes Back_ outfit before the 2nd film released to theaters, so _The Muppet Show_ appearance was before the introduction of Yoda, even though Frank Oz was on the show performing Miss Piggy), the Droids (C3-PO & R2-D2) and Chewbacca the Wookie guest-starred on _The Muppet Show_ & Miss Piggy dressed up as a porcine Princess Leia to flirt with the Jedi-in-training (not knowing at the time, of course, that Luke & Leia are brother and sister) as well as threaten to [pork] chop him down to size if he didn't play along with the Muppet's variety show antics. At the end, for the grand finale, the Muppets & the stars of _Star Wars_ all stand on the planet Koozbane set & sing Disney's anthem "When You Wish Upon a Star" in front of a faux castle prop as a bit of foreshadowing, since both Star Tours & MuppetVision 3-D both came to the theme parks years before Disney's acquisition of both the Muppets in 2004 & LucasFilm Ltd. (thereby securing ownership of _Indiana Jones_ & _Star Wars_ indefinitely, in perpetuity) in 2012. _The Muppet Show_ guest appearance of the stars of _Star Wars_ (Luke Skywalker [and his actor Mark Hamill, as the future Jedi's green screen "cousin"] the two droids -- C3-PO & R2-D2 -- and Chewbacca the Wookie) that foreshadowed both franchises getting bought out by Disney (the Muppets in 2004 & LucasFilm Ltd. in 2012): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b7B_ecp2q728aWQ.html The lowkey shipping of LukeXLeia was still going as far as the 1984 original version of _Muppet Babies_ was concerned when the toddler Muppets lampooned both _Star Wars_ & _Star Trek_ as well as Hanna-Barbera's _The Jetsons_ all together within the same episode ("A New Generation"), with multiple versions of Baby Kermit for Baby Piggy to flirt with (first as the Jane Jetson to her version of Kermit as George Jetson [with their theme-in-a-box unseen singers just randomly pestering them every time the mock _Jetsons_ theme is played], then as Captain Kirk-met portraying Captain James Kirk from the original _Star Trek_ & then, as Kermit Skyhopper portraying Luke Skywalker from _Star Wars_ [at which point, Baby Piggy takes some chocolate donut rolls & puts them against her head to replicate Princess Leia's looping braid hairstyle]), since even the original _Muppet Babies_ came out before _Return of The Jedi_ released to theaters, thusly revealing to anyone who's been living under a rock for the past 30+ years that Darth Vader is the father of both Luke & Leia, so that as such, Luke & Leia are thereby brother & sister. At least in the novelization, Vader is playing both sides. He's impressed by Luke's resourcefulness. I recall from the text Vader considering that Luke, like he, was no fool; and on the Endor moon, Vader almost smiling when Luke tries to use the Force to influence Vader to not take take him to the Emperor. If Luke had agreed to take Vader's offer, the question is whether Palpatine would've called dibs. Vader sells it to Palpatine as "if he [Luke] could be turned, he would be a powerful ally." Palpatine would've seen it simply: Luke and Vader will eventually fight each other, one will be victorious, I'll get the victor, evil Sith lord for the win, baby! But seeing how powerful Luke is, and now aware that he has a son which Palpatine hid from him, Vader's thinking "We'll take Palpatine down, rule the galaxy together, end this dumb war, and to hell with the Rule of Two." The prequels show that Anakin is about somebody wise calling the shots for the good of all, whereas Palpatine is about submitting the galaxy to his will. Yes the Rule of Two hadn't been articulated at this point, but Palpatine's tart question about whether Vader's feelings were "clear on this matter" was a signal that Palpatine did sense something was amiss; and it's clear that Palpatine saw no issue with Luke taking Vader's life and becoming the new Vader.

Lando's actions were perfectly reasonable. He was essentially the mayor of Cloud City, so he had the choice between the Empire taking over the city and either imprisoning or killing all those people he was responsible for and betraying an old acquaintance that he had a mixed history with. No blood when Luke's hand is cut off... the light sabers are basically "laser swords" so they "cauterize" what they cut also known as burning. If you are cut with a metal knife the wound stays open and you bleed until the blood thickens to close the bleeding. If you burn the wound the places that bleed would be burned shut so no bleeding.

Finally. So nice to see someone else get emotional when Han Solo is frozen in carbonite. For me that's the most powerful moment in the movie, even with the reveal later on. Solo is just an ordinary man with no special powers. He's tortured and experimented upon, but is willing to sacrifice himself to save the woman he loves. The "I know" answer puzzles everyone, but it's the content behind those seemingly insignificant words that matter. He's saying that he loves her too, and that he's sorry for what she has to go through, possibly loosing him forever.

In one way, Han's response of "I know" was kinda like saying "I told you so." He spent the whole movie romancing Leia to try to convince her that she's in love in with and won't admit it. When she finally does, he won't tell her that he loves her-which he had effectively done all throughout the movie-but instead brags that he was right, or that he finally got her to fall for him. On the other hand, Han was probably trying to protect Leia from the pain of his imminent death. Chances are that she would never see him again, even if he survived the carbon-freezing process. If he said, "I love you too," she would've had to live with the pain of loving her love for the rest of her life. If he says something rude, maybe she won't be quite as upset about losing him, especially if she feels mad at him. It's such a weird but awesome juxtaposition, and so easily overlooked: being rude to be caring.

I don't know why so few people see that Han's "I know" was the response that Leia needed to hear. Up to that point, she'd been sniping at him, sometimes like she despised him. When Han was likely to die, she didn't want him to die with the wrong impression, so she confessed, "I love you." He was assuring Leia that she didn't have to feel guilty; he knew how she truly felt: "Don't worry about it. We're cool."

Yoda was testing Luke's patience by being annoying, and by not revealing himself. Also, "Baby Yoda" isn't really Yoda as a child(The Mandalorian takes place ~6 years after this movie). Here, Yoda is approaching 900 years old, while "Baby Yoda"(it was only a moniker given to him, as his real name hadn't been revealed) is only 50 years old when we meet him(meaning, he was ~44 at this time frame). As for why Luke's arm isn't bleeding: The lightsaber is so hot, it actually cauterizes the wound it makes.

All light sabers work by heat, so they cauterize veins, preventing bleeding. A notable difference is seen in episode IV at Mos Eisley, of course, when Obi-Wan relieves the violent thug of his arm and there's clearly blood. The thug's species is Aqualish, who are arachnids, exoskeletal creatures. Exoskeletals don't have veins, they have open circulation, so there's no veins to cauterize, hence the bleeding.

It's not false, Carrie Fisher claimed it was done. They even shot a scene with the medical droid repairing his face, to further explain the differences. Lucas denied it was intentional but the fact they tried to explain it says otherwise. Lucas lied to his actor, to help him not be worried about it. Hamil himself still wonders if Lucas told the truth. Lucas is not exactly the most credible person, He thought Kathleen Kennedy was great and also gave us Mr Binks.

When Luke fell, I don't know what proper canon says, but in my mind the reason he didn't get hurt or splattered was because even though a Jedi (usually?) can't use the force to make themselves fly, they can use it to push off from surrounding surfaces. Like when two same polarized magnets push off from one another, there's that cushion of force between them.

THE BEST of the Star Wars movies! Yea, Obi-wan is dead. He's contacting Luke through the Force. Obi-wan is known as a Force Ghost. Great. Now I want some grapes. My kids ate all of them yesterday. :( Those other characters Vader is talking to are bounty hunters. To illustrate my nerd credit, from left to right: Dengar (Corellian guy with the towel wrapped around his head), IG-88 (assassin droid), Boba Fett (legendary bounty hunter with Mandalorian armor), Bossk (Trandoshan bounty hunter), 4-LOM (reprogrammed protocol droid. Teammate of the next bounty hunter), Zuckuss (Gand bounty hunter). As for Luke hearing the warning of the trap, the Stormtroopers were shooting at him and he couldn't make out what she was saying. At least according to the novelization of the movie. You don't need a connection to receive a Force call, but it does help to allow a response.

Originally, they were just going to use purely mechanical sounds. (machine hums, mechanical whistles, etc.) But, it came off as "too cold" & emotionless. So, they had a voice actor also do hums & whistles, and mechanical sound effects with his voice & mixed it with the actual mechanical sounds! The result is the most LOVABLE droid in the Galaxy!

When the drones flew up out of frame we heard them travel to the back of the theatre and the Dagobah swamps' sounds made their scenes come to life.
