I've grown up with this series since it aired in 2008. I think the first season of the show is a mixed bag, but overall its definitely a net positive.

I actually watched it first as it aired even when I wasn't necessarily target audience. i loved it then and still love it now. The acting in the first 2 Seasons really hasn't broken in yet but that is to be expected, right? It is by far the best supplementary star wars product that ever came out (that is still canon).

@louis8487
@louis8487 3 жыл бұрын
@@SwiftNimblefoot Here's a difference for ya, Cody didn't hesitate for a second when it came to order 66. Rex bawled his eyes out and was able to resist long enough to let Ahsoka escape and tell her a major clue as to what was going on. And I know that's just because Revenge of the Sith and TCW season 7 were decades apart and story wise had different things in mind about the clones but I honestly do see Cody and Rex as different people in the series I'm just too tired to list the differences. Also at least when it comes to Rex the voice actor has stated he gave him a deeper voice than any other clone to differentiate him from the other clones since he was the main clone character.

I did not understand the hype at all. "Really? Maul? The guy that said almost nothing and got cut in half by Obi-Wan in the first film? Sure; he took out Qui-Gonn, but if you want a tough bad guy, then stop treating Grievous like a wimp and make him as badass as he was in the original Clone Wars show!" That was basically my thought on it. To be honest, I like what they did with Maul, but I still don't understand that initial hype.

@andrewlance3898 3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewmuir8884 I think his appeal came more from his design and his stunt work than his writing. He looks distinctively demonic, he has the first variant lightsaber we've seen in a movie, and his fight with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gonn was the start of the grand scale lightsaber fights which became a highlight of the prequel trilogy. Clone Wars kept all of that and also gave him a compelling character and a tragic storyline

The die-hard Clone Wars fan's 5-point guide for newcomers: #1. It gets better with every season. #2. There are garbage episodes in every season, so just grit your teeth through them to get to the good stuff. #3. Ahsoka is the Star Wars version of Jaime Lannister or Steve Harrington; you're gonna hate her guts at first, but she'll be your favourite character by the end. #4. Nearly every character from the prequels is improved, especially Anakin Skywalker. #5. Rex is the best boi.

"The bodycount is crazy." Oh its just getting started. To this day I wonder how alot of whats coming was even allowed to air on CN... Honestly I had allmost completely forgotten that Jar Jar was even in this season. And his presence reduces further in the upcoming seasons, so no worries there. I still remember Rookies, and its still one of my favourite Episodes. Domino-Squad will stay with us for a long time, and provide some of the best moments in the Show. If you already liked the first season, you'll definitely like the rest even more. Also, on the point with the lighting: If the one in S1 already impressed you...Lighting is definitely one of the areas were the Shows improves the most. Like from S4 onwards its on a whole other level when it comes to that. Ok one more thing: from S4 onward everything is in order, and most of the first three are, too. But there are some Episodes that jump around a bit (because they were aired in the Order that they were bought in, not written, so for example the first Episode of S3 is actually a Prequel to Rookies). Its not that confusing when you know which ones are out of Order.

I remember seeing the show when it first aired when I was 12, so I was the perfect age for it. I was hooked by the Yoda episode from the beginning, and I think Rookies was definitely the standout episode from the first season. Season 2 was kind of a mixed bag for me at the time since not every arc gets a satisfying conclusion, but most of the major arcs in the second season are picked up on in later seasons and get much, much better. I still think the first two seasons were pretty good, but it is a show that gets better and better with each season.

I used to comment under every video in which he bitched about the shoddy CG, explaining that TPM alone had more practical effects than the entire OT, but of course it was pointless hoping that he'd notice. And now here he is, not only shortselling the incredible amount of work the modell-makers and set designers working on the PT put into them, as "it was CG already" (as if making CG of that high quality with '95-'04 era computers wouldn't have been an incredible feat!), but also downplaying the work the CG artists who also worked on TCW, by suggesting they reused the CG models from the films...

Yeah I didn't care for Anakin in the prequels but I really started liking the character in Clone Wars. He's just way better developed and less one-dimensional. Actually made Obi-Wan's statements in New Hope sound true ("He was a good friend", "Vader was seduced by the dark side.") whereas in the prequels their on-screen interaction felt distant and and the whole turning to the dark side was more like a flip of a switch. In CW you can really see their friendship and Anakin's gradual transformation to the dark side has so much more into it than just him wanting to save Padme.

Man, this show was just amazing. One of my favorites as a kid for sure. I am super happy you are finally doing a review on this one. The first season wasn’t as good as the rest of the series, but even it had some pretty great moments. The last 4ish episodes of season 1 were actually not that bad, season 2 was an overall good season, and seasons 3-7 are just on a different level. Also, if you didn’t know already, The Clone Wars is getting its own sequel series called “The Bad Batch” set to premier on Disney+ later this year. The trailer for it was just too damn awesome to pass up... Edit: Oh, and also a side note, especially for when you get to season 3. The episodes aren’t exactly in chronological order at all. In fact, the first episode chronologically is Season 2 episode 16: Cat and Mouse, which takes place before the Clone Wars movie. Another one aswell for when you get to season 3: remember the episode in season 1 called “Rookies”? Yeah, the very first episode of the third season called “Cadets” is literally a direct prequel to that episode. You know what’s even weirder? The 2nd episode of the third season is the direct sequel to Rookies. I know it’s a little dumb and confusing but don’t let it bother you, just sit back and enjoy the show.
