This entire movie is just "That's not how the force works," the movie. Still the best line from this trilogy.

To be fair, Force Heal in the EU existed, but it had a LOT of restrictions, as only a few dedicated Jedi, called Jedi Healers (including Barris Offee and Admiral Ackbar's niece, Cilghal, in Luke's New Jedi Order) could perform it to an extensive degree. Others were merely proficient at mending cuts or broken bones, but NOT saving someone from death. Hell, in the Dark Horse's Republic comics, Anakin as a Padawan attempts to use Force Heal on a wounded fellow Jedi AND FAILS, the guy dies. So bottomline : Force Heal is not a power that ruins the universe per se, if you stick to its limitations set by authors with a functioning brain. It's turning it into a fucking almighty Panacea that cures every wounds and saves people from dying (at the expense of the healer's life apparently) that fucks the continuity. It's just the same with Force Illusion or Projection. Great power introduced in the now defunct EU, misused and rendered haphazarded bullshit by Disney Lucasfilm.

Force Healing in ROS ruins Anakin's turn to the Darkside. He did terrible things just to get a chance to save his wife from dying at childbirth, but failed to do so. If the Jedi had this ability all along, that means that Anakin wouldn't have became Darth Vader, Order 66 wouldn't have been nearly as successful, and the Original Trilogy's story wouldn't have happened.

VII ruins Han and solidifies Kylos villainy. VIII ruins Luke and Leia and the new characters. IX ruins Vaders arc and hence the Star Wars saga. Watching my friends Revenge of the Sith cut with the final arc of Clone Wars made me think that if only Rey had been there to help Yoda and save everything because she is the bestest evar. Anakin could've saved his mother and wouldn't have started down the path to the darkside, also wouldn't have betrayed the Jedi just to find out how to save Padme which would've changed the whole saga. That's how broken adding Force Heal is.

The Disney-bots who argue in favor of this movie have claimed that Force Healing is a power that "only a few Jedi can master" when that's clearly not true. Rey blunders into it by complete accident, without any training, so it's NOT a difficult skill to learn. Also, Po gets SHOT in this movie and Rey can't be bothered to heal him even though she has no problems with healing an animal.

Oh Lord, I just realized Yoda would have known about Force Heal. In TLJ Yoda tells Luke the ancient Jedi texts were not "page-turners". Meaning that he's read them. The same Jedi texts that taught Rey how to Force Heal lightsaber crystals and people. Meaning that Yoda would have taught not only Luke, but any Jedi in the old Order that trained under him. TLJ had actually made things even worse now than before. Source for the jedi healing texts: the ROS visual dictionary, pgs 36 & 38.

The EU had force healing, but that was mildly different. 1. MASSIVE amounts of training was required 2. It required meditation to pull off 3. The force users that didn't need to use meditation to do it were either Jedi Masters or Dark Side wielders.

Force Heal in Jedi Academy only affected the player. Also in the Legends Comics, being able to heal other people existed, sure, but very VERY limited to super experienced masters or Cade Skywalker who was the one exception to the rules because he used the Dark Side to heal people from near-death.

5:01 ok as Force Echo Force Heal was first introduced in EU and the way it worked is that basically accelerated natural healing and that it couldn't heal mortal wound only make their last moment peaceful so Rey healing those wounds I can understand since it doesn't look like to be THAT bad of the wound but then she healed Kylo MORTAL WOUND with no consequence which made her even more of Mary Sue the only one who can do it in EU was Cade Skywalker from Legacy comic but there was consequences for it first is that he used dark side of the force to use which makes it pretty easily for him to fall to it and never wanna use it and also because it attracted the attention of the big bad of the comic Darth Krayt who needed his powers to survive from disease that was inflicted on him

At 6:30, what about most of all, Anakin could have saved his mother from dying? That's the whole start of his turn to the dark side. This power being the reason he turned so he could save Padme like he couldn't save his mother.

Haven’t gotten all the way through but let’s remember that his tie interceptor is where the way finder is.....and also survived the explosion even though later it can be turned to dust with little effort

One thing that separates healing from star wars "legends" like Jedi Academy from new disney trash, was that first of all, it was way more akin to battle meditation and regaining stamina than actual closing gaping wounds in your body. It looked very similar to what Qui Gon was doing before round 2 with Darth Maul, and I think this was what creators intended to do. In jedi academy, the moment you are hurt with a lightsaber you usually die. The game is kept in a very lore faithful scenario. Secondly, the force heal was only applied to your own freakin self. No force transfers of life force bullshit. It's pretty logical, that if you can amplify your body with the force to move at supernatural speed - as Qui Gon and Obi Wan were able to do on Federation Ship, you could also, possibly, use it to amplify your body's natural healing ability and make it significantly faster, to the point of healing minor wounds instantly. It really makes sens to me. What bothered me the most in TROS is that: 1. You can suddenly apply it to another person, which breaks the lore completely. Why weren't jedi used as war healers again? Why didn't Anakin force heal Obi Wan but rather carried him from Dooku's chambers in Ep3? Why didn't Obi Wan try to heal Qui Gon? Etc. If that's how it works, nothing makes sens. 2. It can be used to a ridiculous degree. It can heal fatal lightsaber wounds and even raise the dead, and you don't have to learn it at all. It's way too easy to obtain amd way too overpowered. Not to mention it removes tension from storytelling. 3. It's inconsistant as hell. So Rey can heal Snake but not Po when hegets shot? So Kylo can bring Rey back to life, but she can't bring him back also? It's just used as a cheap plot device. 4. It goes WAY beyond what your body would be capable of in a longer period of time. It literally creates new tissue. New matter is being created. As such, force stops being the force and simply becomes magic. It's straight reality warping. And that's what actually bothers me. They take a simple odea of the force, which deals in simple powers like absprbing energy, telekinesis and electric discharges - which work pretty well in the context of the fact that the force was supposed to be just a Giant ENERGY FIELD and turns it into Harry Potter magic that can do anything. Bullshit.

There’s something else to factor: prior to this turd, what did we know about the Force? • Telekinesis • Telepathy • Precognition All of these things are essentially a psychic’s usual bag of tricks. But now here we have this unique concept being used to wipe away damage and fatalities and bend space turning the whole concept of The Force into magic rather than an untapped potential in every mind if you just let go of doubt and let instinct latch on to this connective cosmic tissue that binds the things being lifted, people being connected with, and events that are a reaction of each player on the field. It’s a bit of a stretch to say you can easily coerce flesh to regrow or vitality to be restored. Add to that the idea of completely bending space into an Einstein-Rosen Bridge goes beyond the nature of just being able to tap into an energy field that allows you to move and influence the entities and objects connected to that field.

Wait, wait, wait. We know exactly why Palpatine put Vader in that suit. Physically, Anakin was the only one actually strong enough to potentially beat him. Putting him in that suit made him easier to control because it was outdated, broke down easily and didn’t really do anything to help ease his pain and constant itching. It kept him under the emperors thumb. Handicapping the second most powerful man in the galaxy is a wise choice for someone who is trying to claim and retain absolute power but needs a strong hand to help enforce it. The stories surrounding the suit might not all be canon anymore - - personally I consider them to be - - but that reasoning is still there. It makes a lot of sense why he would be kept in the suit.

Palpatine's fleet supposedly can't take off, yet a Star Destroyer is able to leave the Exegol system. He could have just had them leave one at a time and rendevous right outside or at another spot. He didn't need to wait.

Agree with everything, except for the healing powers bit. It has been a part of canon for a long time that certain jedi can use rare force abilities and force heal is one of them. The movie didn't explain that it was something only certain jedi could do though and made it look like any force sensitive could do it.

The first time Anakin uses Force Choke is in The Clone Wars. Season 2 Episode 8 "Brain Invaders".

Even in the game the force healing can only be done to yourself, not to others. So even if you add that to the canon it can only be done in a limited amount to yourself. Ofc its just a game mechanic but it makes a lot more sense than what this movie did lol.

One thing, though: it is perfectly possible that Palpatine is lying, or rather misleading Anakin, into believing what he wants to believe. Anakin asks a direct question, is it possible to heal someone? and Palpy answers, there are many powers etc., which is certainly true, but never says plain and straight yes. Later, when Anakin is dying on Mustafar, Palpatine doesn't use any such power to heal him...

I think force healing is a neat idea but it needs to have limits, if I had control over it I would say it could not heal severed arms legs etc and also it can not heal death, it can heal injuries and such. That is how I would have it

Honestly the plot is just upsetting for the plot of the “epic final chapter of the 9 movie skywalker saga” I mean really? A scavenger hunt with tons upon tons of steps? This is something for a video game side quest that you don’t really need to do to progress unless you want a certain item to help you get further, it’s not something meant to make it to the big screen!! And it’s even worse that in the end the “way finder” that we’ve spent half the movie chasing is destroyed immediately after we finally get it. They could’ve at least had it to where Kylo is keeping it away from Rey during the fight and in the end she nearly kills him and steals his tie (as well as his way finder) and he ends up using the way finder we’ve been hunting down The Whole time to get to Exegol to help Rey, making it to where it was necessary not for Rey to reach Exegol but for a Ben to reach Exegol in order to help Rey. In a way this is poetry, at least a million times more than the “poetry we got” as halfway through the movie they end up switching the items, and most importantly not making it feel like we wasted half the movie on a way finder that ends up getting crushed to pieces. It would also give the “behest fight in the saga” a purpose other than “Rey is mad at Kylo for breaking her treasure so she fights him for no reason” instead now she’s fighting him with the intention to get her hands on the Wayfinder and it could even set up some really nice action sequences, which I used this change for my TRoS rewrite script FYI that’s why it’s in pretty great detail, but like they could keep passing it, Kylo’s running with it and Rey uses the force to grab it, maybe Kylo goes to attack her, tricks her into thinking he’s gonna attack her but instead he’s trying to make her react to where she needs to loosen her grip on the way finder. They could have it to where the Way finder goes flying across the wreckage and they have to fight and race towards it because maybe it’s out of reach for the force, say, just far out of sight therefore they have no idea where to use the force to grab it. Then when Rey kills Kylo, they heal each other THROUGH THE DYAD, not just through the force as that breaks all of canon. We know Jedi, or even just force users, can influence animals and creatures to obey them therefore in my script I had Rey use the force to ask the snake to help them, which works and the snake digs a tunnel for them. Easy fix!! Then you could say that Palps is so powerful that he could use the force to consume their life force, as if he can dubstep the entirety of space over Exegol surely he can steal the life force of a dyad!!!

I like to think force healing was used by Ben Kenobi in A New Hope from years of training.

I ordered 9 Star Wars Mini Posters for each of the films, despite the problems with some of the films, I do love Star Wars, it pained me to click on the ROS the most.

Force Heal should be a dark side ability with their extreme attachment to life. Now I don't think it should be like a video game heal, it should be a force corruption where the "soul" of the person isn't there but their body still moves. A person so attached to someone else would not see the difference between a living person and a meat puppet. Seeing Padme as a puppet following Darth Vader would be dark and sad.

A little correction I have to make is that Force Healing is used in the Real Star Wars, and was used by Obi-Wan to help Luke recover from the Tusken assault. That's why he wakes up without any signs of concussion or else, which is also specified in extra material, but is also why, after he checks Luke's wrist, he imposes his hand won hand on Luke's head. Still, to do what SHE does, you need long sessions of deep meditation, not to mention the training, the mental preparation, be pure in the light and all those other factors, surely you can't resurrect people with it, like she does, and there are other limits for what you can do, like it cannot restore Anakin's body or it cannot be used to prevent people from dying, that requires something more deep and potentially dangerous. cRey does it out of the blue, without meditation, in no time, and that's just disgusting and disrespectful, not to mention that Lylo Kek learns it just as easy and just cause Palpatine's spawn as to live in spite of the legacy of the Chosen One, that now is just One of the Many, since in the new Canon there are multiple Chosen One and the Dark Side is now integral part of the Force, forgetting everything it is and represents, and how unnatural it is and why was meant to be eradicated by killing Sidious... In the end, Force Healing exist, but it's not AS broken as it appears in the movie. If this ability worked that way, that easily, then there was no point Obi-Wan couldn't have saved Qui-Gon, Padmé and even Anakin... Heck, if someone cuts your hands in a duel, you can just Force Heal yourself and keep fighting... And if it's too much regrowing a limb, take it from the ground and reattach with the Force, why not!
