If you look at the first drafts of George Lucas episode 7 it shows how he didn’t want to mess up the prophesy of the chosen one but of course the scrapped all that and made their own shit without researching and planning ahead of time.

Personally I've never really liked the whole Prophecy/Chosen One crap George tacked on to Vader. Especially when the old Expanded Universe largely ignored it by having dozens of new Sith Lords pop up after old Sheev. But even ignoring that bringing back Palpatine still completely destroys Anakin's whole story. Cause even if you were to ignore the Prophecy aspect Vader killing Palpatine was clearly a key component towards his redemption arc. It's the equivalent of bringing Voldemort back after Deathly Hollows, despite over 7 books and 8 films of built up focusing on Harry being the one destined to destroy him. And yes I'm aware Dark Empire also brought back Palpatine but it's just as damaging to his redemption arc as the Rise of the Retcons is.

I don't think that's a fair comparison. Vader being Luke's father was a twist because, while it probably wasn't the first of it's kind, it was definitely the most popular at the time. Star Wars was new. Nobody knew what to expect. Not to mention the fact that the Internet wasn't a thing back then, or if it was, it wasn't as connected to every day life as it is now. It's pretty much the complete opposite now. Star Wars is one of the biggest moneymakers ever. Nearly everybody knows about Star Wars and what happened in Star Wars. I grew up while the prequels were coming out. I never watched them nor the originals. Yet I could still tell you _everything_ that happened. It's almost impossible to be surprised with movies anymore. I didn't like the granddaughter twist because it was a needless retcon, not because it was predictable.

They should have had Rey take Palpatine’s power and made Kylo beat her. This movie made the actual Skywalkers look useless.

But in the end, Ben sacrificed himself to bring Rey/the last Jedi back to life, ultimately redeeming the legacy of the Skywalker name. So in that sense, I believe the Skywalker name did rise.

Absolutely... with the likely substitution of Palpatine for Snoke. My gut says that Snoke was supposed to be the BBG for this entire series, but The Last Jedi changed that up. This definitely felt like two movies mashed into one. Personally, I wish it was a good hour longer... or if they made it into a quadrilogy, so they didn't have to rush so much in the final movie. I actually give JJ a lot of credit for doing as well as he did in 2:21 to try to wrap things up and give a reasonable amount of fun fan service.

He did all that, became the most evil villian in the galaxy next to the Emperor all for nothing but kylo and rey both master that power and neither of them were even on the darkside when they used it!! So if you think about it, Anakin should have just killed the emperor and keep being a Jedi anyway. Not only the original trilogy is pointless, now even the prequel trilogy is pointless with this movie.

I feel like Rise of the Skywalker was one of my favorite films, this coming from a total Star Wars nerd. I would argue its my third favorite write behind Return of the Jedi, but ahead of New Hope. The entire movie seemed well structured and well designed. Rey could've been anybodies daughter with how the seventh and eighth movie was set up, but when she was revealed to be Palpatines grand-daughter, that was actually cool, and it makes a lot of sense where her powers come from. I mean so many people are saying how strong Rey is, but it makes a lot of sense. However, her not discovering her power until recently was a bit bullshit, but the Last Jedi had a chance to makeup for that, and they didn't so no need to blame IX. Furthermore, Kylo Ren has some of the strongest developments I've seen, and when he dies its such a powerful message of the last of the Skywalker bloodline dying out. Finally, revealing that General Hux is a spy does make sense on how his character was structured during the Last Jedi, but I didn't like how he died like he was nothing. They didn't explain Snoke enough, or how Palpatine came back, but I was satisfied with how Palpatine died and all the scenes he was in. Amazing music and amazing visuals, by far one of best movies of 2019. People tend to hate on Star Wars as it's popular to do so, but in reality this was a fantastic movie.

He is from vaders bloodline and vader didn't reach his full potential because of his suit, and even with his torture suit he was still strong. Palpatine wanted to give vader a new suit to reach his full potential but vader refused. Theres no reason rey should be that strong.
