My issue with it is everything else looked great besides the combat. But Bethesada seems to lean so heavily on the combat aspect. It's like they focus on the one thing they're weakest at vs. all the other things they're so great at.

I didnt like zero stealth option. The first encounter he is crouched walking into a room and the enemies just knew he was there, turned and shot. I dont think adding half the amount of stealth that Elder Scrolls or Fallout had would be too difficult. A simple crouch and approach is good enough...unless there is like a stealth skill that I did not see. I agree, combat is not really selling me on the game just yet, but pretty much all other aspects of the game are interesting. I have hopes considering it is a new IP, built from what looks like the ground up. Not reused fallout or Elder Scrolls. I have hope...but I wont hold my breath. Been burned too many times.

The engine is showing it's strengths.. modular building..which allows freeform building of ships and outposts...very unique.. something very few engines can do.

@@_Chad_ThunderCock modular building is very unique..it's a function that Bethesda has especially taken 3 games to employment..it exsist in some survival games....grounded..Valhime...etc .but Bethesda has taken it to the next step with their space ship construction....very few games has modular construction when it comes to vehicles..

@@theroebuck123456789 In NMS the planets are generated automatically, which means the vastness is pretty much endless, though in the downside it also means they won't be careful on how most of these planets are built. That should be a pro in Starfield, with a limited number of planets but with each one being built particulary.

Fallout 4 was a huge disappointment though... it was watered down for casuals, the combat was horrendous, the story was a joke, and let's not get started with how buggy it was.

I disagree. I think having a ton of empty planets will be fantastic for the modding community. Let's not forget, console players will likely be getting mods too. Think about it. hundreds of planets, many of them barren or whatever. Modders can place dungeons, settlements, small towns, large cities, etc etc. Like seriously. Imagine it. You take one of the many empty plenets and spend a year or two modding a Medieval world into it. lol. Whose to say all the planets need to be filled with monsters and weird sci-fi stuff. Just like in real life, maybe there's a planet out there with humanoids living life in what we'd call a fantasy world, so a mod like that would make sense probably be doable.

their going for a space exploration, space has a lot of barren wastelands i think that`s the point of 1000 planets to bring in realism to space exploration, how this plays out heavily relies on how many resources does ship customization and base building cost, and a lot of other factors, some may love it others may hate it.

I completely agree. Anyone who has played both Outer Wilds and No Mans Sky knows this is true. One has a handful of incredibly inventive and exciting worlds to explore, all packed to bursting with inspired content. One has unlimited worlds that all feel samey and empty. I know which one I preferred. I have a feeling this game will undoubtedly lean towards being like the latter sadly.

you cant just fly where you want on a planet. instead you scan the planet and fast travel to points of interest. these are fairly small areas like you see in the video, with a central "dungeon"... once you complete the dungeon you fast travel back to your ship and then fast travel to the next scanned POI

I'm wondering how big we can make the ships. Are they limited to fighters/freighters or could we build a Corvette or frigate? Highly doubt we could make a destroyer or dreadnaught.

Expect lots of procedural generation and repetitive content. The "thousands of planets" line was clearly meant to impress us. It just made me roll my eyes.

Yeah, I don't even play Bethesda games for cutting edge combat anyway, so the gunplay doesn't even remotely bother me. If I want to play shooters, I will play Halo or something. That's not why I play Bethesda games.

Lets see how it will turn out. tbh No Mans Sky has as many planets or even more I think and its not as generic as one might think. I've played NMS for a long time and the diversity between the different planets was pretty large. Some planets were very pretty too

1000 planets is easy. Obviously every planet isn’t going to be hand crafted and most of them will be generated. I fail to see how landing anywhere you want sounds similar as well. Lastly fallout 76 was always going to fail if people paid attention, it was made by a newer inexperienced team that didn’t really know what they were doing. Also Bethesda was bought by Microsoft so I honestly doubt they will want their first exclusive to be a dumpster fire.

The way I see it is Bethesda is very mod friendly, so it allows for massive mods, this is not me saying they can just have barren planets with nothing to do besides in the cities, but just saying that it has potential for a more open ended modding community

Best case: There is genuinely something of interest on all 1000 planets. Likely case: There's a handful of cool planets central to the story and a bunch of procedurally generated filler Hilariously worst case example: There is a handful of cool worlds lost and buried and among nearly a 1000 procedurally generated filler worlds

Yea. This just sets off red flags for me as well. Firstly, if you CAN truly explore all 1000 of those planets (I'm guessing there's limitations on where/how), there is no way they will be handcrafted story driven like most POIs in Bethesda games. Chances are it will be random generation algorithm similar to No Man's Sky, which is a shame because the charm of Bethesda games is the different details and stories throughout their game worlds.

Why would that be a warning sign? No man sky's has 18 quintillion planets - 1000 is nothing compared to that. With 7+ years of development, there is plenty of time for developers to add more than 200 hours of content on these planets for you to explore. And yes, some planets will be barren and that is exactly as it should be. Space is empty. Not every planet has a civilization with a trillion people on it, especially not in 2330. I appreciate the realistic implementation of the world building here. Everyone should. And it's not like Bethesda hasn't used ai procedural generation before - they have and nobody complained. Honestly, I feel like because so many sony fanboys put out this objection, it has caught on and people are just not using their brains, fearing something that is absolutely not even remotely new at all to gaming (and that includes Sony releases! Their precious Spider-man and others was also procedurally generation and they put it on such a high pedestal - I am constantly reminded by them how amazing that game is even though I think it's about as good as any assassin's creed game, but whatever)

Bethesda games have always been about more content outside any in game mission. There have always been caves, ruins and buildings that you would never see if you just did quests. This is just bumping it up to the nth degree

76 is actually really fun now.

It reminded me a lot of Starbound. Searching for artifacts on random planets in a uniformly seeded procedurally generated galaxy.

It looked more like there were different factions you can join. I expect the quest to be no different than their other games.

The questlines won't be randomized but they are meant to take you to the most handcrafted sections of the game.

Thats exactly what I got from it, and remember this 'gameplay' is an incredibly tightly scripted playthrough of the absolute best they can make the game look, and it looks... meh/alright.

so Skyrim in space, basically? Combat in there is pretty repetitive as well, and honestly it’s surprising how empty the world is, once you start walking around. I definitely see where that vibe comes from.

It’s okay to be excited for this game. From all the included mechanics alone, it’s well deserved. More dialogue, space flight, ship customization, base building, character customization, backgrounds, factions…its very ambitious. It’s always good to keep your expectations grounded but it seems like this game is something to be excited for.
