why do those lights still run in the background at 2:35 I thought the zpm was depleted so those lights should be out with no power then mkay screwed up some how🤣🤣🤣

@@raven4k998 The city probably has some smaller sized batteries/capacitors to keep very basic functionalities to some control system in case of a ZPM power failure (EG: Emergency lights, basic air recirculation). The city also has fail saves in place so I don't think mkay could "fully" drain the ZPM when firing up the star-drive it probably had like 1% left and the city went in to full power saving mode rendering all large systems like the star-drive, control chair, drone control, shields, etc. inoperative. Also we learn in another episode that ZPM power level stabilizes when the high-load is gone (just like a regular AA battery would) so with the load it could not power all those systems but once systems starting to fail and shutdown because of the low power levels in ZPM it jumped back up and had plenty of power for lights / basic systems.

@@raven4k998 Well, the solar panels are scattered around the city (which in this case was underground and overgrown) only the central spire was above the ground and I don't think it had Solar panels on it (but there is not enough detailed information available to confirm that)... But then again my theory of fail saves kicking in because the ZPM could not deliver the required load which then will always have some power left after the heavy load is cut is more plausible. Its just the same principle as a regular batteries we use daily, you're cellphone can do the same trick after reaching a couple of percent battery power left. It will stop all major processes and go into full energy saving mode only leaving you with the absolutely minimum capabilities that the device can deliver, you can make a call or text and that's it... We also learn in the episode where the Goa'uld has rewritten the safeties on Atlantis that if you overload a ZPM without allowing the safeties to cut the load it will blow up and probably take the entire planet along with it.. So it would be weird if the OS of this Atlantis type city would not have these basic fail saves in place.

@@zibafu Yes, as a first line of defense to keep out an unruly mob of peasants. The drones wouldn't be of much use if they all decided to storm the tower. They'd be shooting at the base of the very building they are in. Plus it could make for housing their guards/henchmen. Logically it would make sense. But it would taint the visual of the single tower protruding from the landscape.

All they did was hasten the inevitable. McKay said that the ZPM was running on empty to begin with. Assuming that massed drone strike didn't drain it, I can't imagine it would have lasted much longer. The Jumpers they had were already out of power, and each generation was having more and more difficulty using the chair and what little systems were still running. Within a generation, they would have been unable to use the chair regardless.

That's exactly what I was thinking, why didn't mckay try to activate the shield?

Basically they needed a huge load instantly, shield would be a smaller drain compared to the engines

Two potential reasons for the shield. 1. The star drive requires more power so quicker drain on the almost depleted ZPM. 2. Would the Shield even be able to activate with the entire city buried under millions of pounds of dirt and rock? In addition to my second point, the shield emitters are on the outside edge of the city while the star drive is more centralized. Given the structural decay of the facility, it's possible the shield emitters themselves or the power conduits going to them are damaged to the point where it would not work.

I suspect the Atlantis expedition could offer them a milky way relocation once have zpms .then once they gone tear the place to pieces for useful parts and equipment once stripped it bare star drive the lot .made sure no humans left on the planet 1 enhanced nuclear warhead to ensure your (database backup cores ,jumper specifications,any advanced technologies do not fall into hands of the genii or any other faction wraith especially)

Not to forget the Tria - the Aurora class battleship, they found the surviving ancients in season 3. It's like they completely forgot to salvage that, or atleast mention why they haven't tried to use it? In Season 2 they fixed the sublight engines of the Orion, so it makes no sense why they couldn't fix the hyperdrive of the Tria and use it for battle in Season 4 and 5?

@@meganoobbg3387 maybe the ship was nowhere near the super hives jump point at roughly halfway space is big .Though I do agree retrofitting the ship if still existed with asgard hyperdrive and take it back to milky way galaxy.tge lessons in ship construction could be learned if was landed at eg a alpha site.then once you learned all is to learn retrofit the ship with asgard beam weapons 'a couple of small hanger bays for f302s and put it into service.
