agreed look at the ep where they upload kids minds to teach adults. Jack doomed an entire race and turned them into simple people who act like they have autism, all because he kidnapped the girl and taught her how to have fun, instead of technology. As a result, the entire population begun acting like kids, finger painting

Deadly serious to quirky humor made these fantastically imaginative episodes the greatest sci-fi cinema show ever produced. 10 years of 22 weekly episodes is a monumental accomplishment. Its also a little confusing as when you think about it, the Asguard should already have a full copy of the ancient repository as they wiped it from his mind once before. You can't wipe something from memory so precisely without been able to tell what's part of the original mind and what's part of the repository. Can't even say they just wiped the last 24/48 hours as he remembered basically everything he'd done except the knowledge itself, it's just too precise.

@@cgi2002 Thor explained it in this episode, or some soon after, that the Asgard long had acces to the knowledge of the ancients. There however was so much, it was like looking for a needle in the solar system. They needed Jacks unconscious mind to guide them to the right information. To me it sounds like a rather logical explanation.
@cgi2002
@cgi2002 2 жыл бұрын
@@Robin-bm4sp yeah, but it seems like since they'd had it so long, they'd basically have made a god teir version of google to search through it. Or hell even a limited AI to do that. Jack's mind while more capable at creatively adapting it rapidly, shouldn't have been able to compared to long term searc and study. The Asgard for all their advancement, were really quite thick when it comes down to it. But then so were the tau'ri when it came to using Asgard tech once they had it. Consider they have the Asgard time dilation tech, that would effectively let them shut down the Ori supergate forever. Just make a device that can be placed next to the gate big enough to encompass the gate then activate it. Nothing can ever pass through the gate ever again without getting stuck or even worse, materialising inside something that's already there. Alternatively, take your ship, and use the device in reverse on it during battle. Your ship now can move insanely fast compared to everyone else, you could effectively activate the device, fire off dozens of shots from 1 weapon, reactive it, and your enemy gets hammered by rapid fire plasma beams.
@Robin-bm4sp
@Robin-bm4sp 2 жыл бұрын
@@cgi2002 they didn’t know what they were looking for though? What good is a search engine when you can’t find the proper keywords. If you Google something without the right keywords, you will lose a lot of time filtering through “useless” stuff. Considering that the knowledge of the ancients consists of much, much more data (assuming that), and that the knowledge there is highly complex without the proper understanding of the topic, it would be fair to assume the Asgard just simply could not work faster without some sort of assistance. Maybe a good comparison would be the following: give a child (10-15 years old) who knows Google and some basic math/language.. the task of designing a rocket capable of flying to Mars and back. The knowledge is there on the internet, but will the child succeed? Most likely, but after many, many years. (Imo this is even less complex than finding a solution to a problem without a proper defined path in comparison to the clear task of rocket to Mars and back)

I can do a reasonable impression of a German accent and my friends like making Hans jokes like "Damnit, Hans get ze flammenwerfer!" or "Hans, leave the tank alone! You don't know where it's been." and Carl jokes like the ones you find online. So one day, when they were making Carl jokes, I came in with my best German accent "You Americans are always talking Carl this, Carl that. Well my name is Carl and it's Hans you should be worried about."

TEAL'C O'Neill, should we not be assisting Daniel Jackson with the translation? [O'Neill starts to draw on the plate with the ketchup and mustard.] O'NEILL I'm taking this loop off. [Teal'c considers this and sits down.] O'NEILL I'm telling you, Teal'c. If we don't find a way out of this soon I'm going to lose it. [Teal'c stares at him.] O'NEILL Lose it…it means go crazy, nuts, insane, bonzo, no longer in possession of one's faculties, (He continues drawing on the plate with the condiments.) three fries short of a happy meal…WACKO! [He lifts up the plate to show Teal'c that he has drawn a smiling face.] [There is another flash of light and another loop…]

Thor is such a troll. he didn't warn Daniel that he had given his name to his ship. Then when Teal'c explains it he looks at Daniel as if his confusion wasn't genuine. Then Thor just keep on talking like nothing had happened.

So basically since the Asgard got access to those ancient libraries, O'Neill could use them, become super smart for a while, solve their most important problems (like cloning) and before his brain gets damage the Asgard could delete it and restore him. Why don't they do it that way? Damn cause it's a TV show, nvm.

O’Neil always kind of annoyed me. At times he was great. But at times he was kind of an insufferable man-child. They moved the character pretty far from the original film.. but, whatever, I love the show.

Had the same thought when i first saw this, back in the day. Yeah, this show had few (only few) of those things. Probably the writers had problems with time and cut corners or couldn't solve the problem, how to fix the situation etc. etc. Went : fuck it, we just gonna do it like this. It happens

I always took this one more as Jack has been through it before, and knows that Thor will save him in the end. So, he is much more relaxed about everything. The first time he gets the repository, even Jack himself isn't sure if the Asgard can save him, but he is desperately trying to get to them, knowing they are his only chance. The 2nd time isn't a big deal, now that he is on an Asgard ship. He knows he will be fine, so jokes away.
