Jimmy Stewart deserves more recognition than you give him. In the Army Air Corps he advanced to Colonel in command of a bomber wing. After the war he remained in the Air Force reserve, and retired a BGen.

As a 25-yr Navy veteran... the son of a WWII veteran... I thank you for reminding us of those heroes who came before us. We owe a debt of honor to the fallen heroes, and the survivors who returned to civilian life, changed forever. God bless their sacrifice, and God bless their families.

This was an awesome video. Thanks for all those who served in War Time and Peace Time...Including me. As a Navy Wave during Vietnam and later on in the Air Force Reserve , Air National Guard, Navy Reserve and Army Reserve. If I had to do it all over again I would have joined the Air Force and made a career out of it back in 1966...To late now.

I just watched this tribute to the brave men and women who bravely served our great nation. They didn't cry and complain but went on and served. I'm curious about how many celebrities of today have served their country instead of bashing it. Oh well it doesn't matter patriotism has died for the most part and has been replaced with entitlement. At 65 years old and an Army vet i'm kind of glad I won't be around to see this country completely go to hell. The morals, honesty, integrity, respect for each other is gone. Replaced by the selfish "ME" attitude where every thing is owed but nothing has to be earned, just given. What a shameful world we live in. Even after all this the USA is still the greatest country in the world and I'm proud of what it stands for and in the end the common people are going to rise up and bring this great nation to the place that it is destined to be.

I remember reading about a concert given in St. Petersburg (Russia) shortly after the demise of the old USSR. IIRC it was the Boston Pops who concluded the concert with The 1812 Overture (with real cannons) and Stars & Stripes Forever. It's said the Russians cheered both songs like mad. I've have given anything to be there or to have even seen the video. Love this song to death and still get chills when the piccolos start playing.

Just because he didn't leave the States doesn't mean he doesn't deserve the spot he's in. You go where you're sent. At least he had the nerve to enlist. Many of the stars who enlisted were not sent overseas on purpose. The military decided America wouldn't appreciate it if one of the "Stars" were KIA, so most didn't go. But they served in whatever capacity they were sent to do. Better than 99% of the ones we have now.

A MILLION likes to this, you for doing this, and ALL of these Men&Women whom served. Being a veteran myself, from a family of Veterans, I can certainly appreciate this..When I took my father to Washington in 2010, and he & a few last surviving veterans of his OSS unit laid wreath at Arlington, it just...made my lifetime, of memory..I have this album, and Arthur Fiedler for sure, did so splendid..He was best conductor to the Pops, ever..I need now, to go to Fort Bragg, and see some of the items father donated to the museum.. I hope to go soon..Thankyou so much for this, Karen !!! It is SPECIAL ( Sterling Hayden was OSS..Jackie Coogan flew gliders, and helped support in Burma ) A splendid weekend to you..

*You forgot 'Jimi Hendrix' who served in the 101st. Airborne, U. S. Army**And 'Buddy Hackett' as well...he fought his way thru the entirety of 'The Battle of the Bulge' as an Infantryman and is the only known person to have 'talked his way out of capture' from a Waffen 'SS' unit by telling them he was a 'planted agent, part of a newsecret program to infiltrate American forces' and they believed him!* ( *Had they known he was a Jew who spoke both Yiddish and German fluently, they likely would have hanged him on capture* ) *Hackett was 'beyond fearless' and could easily have been a 'World Class Sniper' as well being an expert with every firearm known...he was severely wounded at least three times and still went back in combat every time after very short recoveries when he should have been 'discharged and sent home' because he could not bear the thought of being labeled a "New York Jew shirker"* *Hackett was in the same league with men like Audie Murphy and Louis Puller, yet his records in combat are all but unknown...I only know because I was Jnr. High with his son'Sandy' in Las Vegas and saw his father's Medals & Decorations myself*

Thank you for the great story, both Hendrix & esp Buddy Hackett! I wish my father was still alive to read it. We were both big Buddy fans, and ppl forget that many Jews (like Dad) served -- then lived with life long wounds afterwards! 👍✌️

@@hilakummins3104 *Years ago in the early '60's Hackett was working the Lounge at the 'Sahara' and Sinatra happened to see his 'late show' and it was as 'Blue' as he could get away with then* *Frank didn't like hearing some of the 'trash-talk' Buddy used concerning some women, and was pissed over it so he and 'Jilly' Rizzo went to see Hackett in his dressing-room* (Frank never went anywhere alone because it was too dangerous for him even then) *Sinatra began screaming at 'Bud' over his foul language and remarks and did his 'finger in your chest' thing and Buddy slammed Frank into a wall so fast he didn't know what happened and then 'clocked Jilly' right onto the floor!* ( JIlly was a big guy and rumored to be 'Mobbed-up') *"You don't tell me shit, you fucker! You fuck around on your wife and you dare to tell me anything? My act is just words that don't hurt anyone...if they don't like it they can walk out!"* (or words to that effect, because many people working heard a lot of what was being said) *Sinatra sobered-up pretty quick and he and Hackett went to the casino for drinks because Frank respected him for not caving-in to him...they were life-long friends thereafter* *Oddly enough, Sinatra had many Jewish 'Old School Catskills' comedians as 'openers' for him, like Shecky Greene, who was just as 'blue' as Hackett ever was!* ( *I've thought for years that Hackett's life would make one hell of a movie, but times have changed so much that pioneers in entertainment like Hackett would be unknown now* ) *I haven't seen Sandy in over 50-years except for when I saw him doing a lounge-act at the 'Riverside' in Laughlin and even that was at least 25-yrs. ago*
