Yeah...that sweet sound coming from a rebuilt engine that "you" rebuilt and put back together. I've done it 3 times. Last time was in '91 after I tore completely apart my stock 360 cu. in Ford truck engine. Number 7 wrist pin gave out over a period of a year. I did everything myself except machine shop work that I could not do. It's fun.

If I'm remembering correctly, either Weiand or Edelbrock used to make a 6-2 manifold for this engine. I know Weiand made a 3-2 manifold because I had one. Iskenderian used to make a cam called the 5 cycle. If you want to hear sheer music, put an old Isky 5 cycle cam in that engine. That long duration, wide overlap cam would make that beast idle like the Greer-Black-Prudhomme car. God, I loved those engines. There was a beautiful logic in the way they were designed. I had a '53 331 cubic inch engine in a '41 Ford. There used to be a great rivalry between the very light Hilborn-injected, Chevy engined fuelers (i.e., Logghe Stamping Company) and the heavier full blown Chrysler engined AA fuelers (Bebee and Mulligan, Weekly-Rivero-Fox-Holding, Stellings and Hampshire to name a few). In the beginning, the Chrysler engined fuelers would really smoke their tires, often unable to use all of the power the Hemis would make. Occasionally, the lighter, Chevy-engined cars could beat the Chrysler engined cars, if they managed to get a hole shot. In either '64 or '65, Goodyear came out with a slick that finally allowed the Chrysler engined rails to put more of their tremendous power to the ground. That ended the rivalry. '51 through '55 331 cu. inch engines did not have water inlets on the heads. '56 through '58 did. From the water inlets on the heads, this appears to be, at earliest, a '56 354 cubic inch engine, though it could be either a '57 or '58 392. The 392 ('57 or '58) used to be my dream engine. This brings back a lot of memories.
