The John Deere GP, introduced in 1928, was a General Purpose tractor and represented an important step in the development of John Deere's tractor lineup. The model you mentioned, the 1931 John Deere GP, would be a specific variant or model year of this tractor. Like many early John Deere tractors, the GP was powered by a two-cylinder engine. These engines became a hallmark of John Deere tractors for several decades. The GP featured a distinctive, streamlined design with a wide front end. It had a sturdy frame Cheers !

There's nothing like that distinct, unique sound of a JOHN DEERE 2 cylinder pop, you can hear it coming before you can see it, to me there's nothing sweeter, as far as engines go, & machinery. I particularly like the 620, 720, 630, & 730. I'm 66, born in '57, my mom's sister & husband ran a dairy farm by '64, I was 7 yrs old my uncle bolted blocks on the paddles of there Farmall C & taught me how to cultivate kidney beans, I managed to get it done without removing any rows. He ran 2 rows with me, & turned me loose, I was the MAN ! 7 yrs old what fun !! & I was helping!! They also ran an oliver super 77 WF. My dad's uncle had a JD 70 RC/NF. I always loved the hand clutch, & my dad's maternal grandfather's 1st tractor was a Farmall F 20, he then traded that for a MASSY HARRIS 44 gasoline, with a 6 cylinder Perkins engine. Thanks for sharing the video with us, POP POP!!!! ❤

I think that you should consider installing a 12 volt electric starter. It'll be more reliable and efficient and safer than starting by hand.

When I was young I can remember my grandpap telling me that his dad used to say, I could have the team hitched and harnessed and shucked a round by the time you get one of them contraptions awake and coaxed out of the barn.

@@fifieldfarmllc8544 I myself recall in the early sixties in the spring laying in my upstairs bed by an open window falling asleep to the sound of two A Johnny poppers, our neighbor discing ground off in the distance and you could tell when they were close to each other it would sound almost like one four cylinder tractor running.

My G P I don't believe is a 31 because it has air filters is below the fan I got a tag when I bought it but it was not on the tractor no oil filter no Pto. WHAT DO I HAVE.
@fifieldfarmllc85447 ай бұрын
I believe you can cross reference that tag number to find out the year. I'm sure over the years things have been modified.

The tag says year 1931 but why does my air filter be down under the fan we had a 35 when I was a kid and the air filter was just like the one showing so I don't believe mine is not that year does anyone have any idea?
