Ouch. That's a $15K Camaro where I live, and a great driver, even with the roof rust. My best friend in high school had an RS 350 just like it (35 yrs ago) and it was in worse shape when he bought it. We pulled the vinyl top, fixed the rust, and repainted it from green to black. It was a sweet ride.

I had a 1972 Camaro with the split bumper. It spent most of it's life as a dedicated drag racer, so it stayed in a garage when not in use and the body was the most solid I've ever seen in a second generation Camaro.

@TheREALOC1972
@TheREALOC1972 Жыл бұрын
Those mid-late 70's "Ugly" cars are becoming the hot new build out here in the Southwest/West because they are the only muscle/performance cars left that a guy can still tinker around with and build in his garage at home with thousands of dollars worth of tolls and speciality electronics tools besides there's some things you can do yo pretty them up like tucking the bumpers, adding hood scoops and stuff like that. For the price of 72 Chevelle, 70 Mustang or 69 Camaro roller you can buy a 74 Chevelle, 73 Mustang or 76 Camaro that runs and drives and after you get some new parts and a paint job you've spent just as much. Last January I bought a 73 Buick Regal for $1200 and after airing up the tires that had just went down from sitting and putting some fresh gas in it I drove it 50 miles home and after putting another $3500 I now a very good daily driver/ legit cruise-in/Cars and Coffee quality car.

I haven't seen a truly dedicated video to the Cleveland from y'all. I know you did the 351 shootout but it wasn't quite the same for me. I'd like to do mpfi on it with potential for a turbo later. Unfortunately someone swapped the heads, at some point for a build they were doing, with a 400m in a bronco. Would love to see an episode or 2 strictly dedicated to the 351 Cleveland. Heck I think it'd be cool to even see someone do a 393 stroker Cleveland. Love you guys' content and format.

Real race cars have full tube frames. Even the 20 foot car would be worth a whole money tree with a vin. Just stupid when you can buy every piece of that body tub to grill. You could have sold that car n vin bought a frame to weld up and built 100 times the car to drive on a track, and put a seriously fun powertrain in it. UNIMPRESSED to be generous.

@gordonstroup882
@gordonstroup882 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! A base model would have been the same body and everything else. If they like the style of the "Ralley Sport" split bumpers and the nose extension, it's all available in the aftermarket industry. It's a shame that they did this because these "Ralley Sport" cars from 1970½ to 73 are becoming rare. A friend of mine has a 1973 RS LT Z/28 with a 4 speed and a/c with the factory dark blue metallic paint with black stripes, 100 percent original. The only thing that he did to the car when he bought it, new, was put on a set of Gabriel air shocks and a new set of Cragar S/S wheels. 6" wide up front and 10" wide on the rear. He never liked the look of the 10 bolt posi rear axle and believe me, he tried forever to blow it up so he could replace it with a 12 bolt! Fun, fun dude, that's for sure. Ok, enough from me. Take care and have a good one, 🚔 and watch your mirrors, ha!

@@Thraser999 I am talking 70-73 Z28, The late 67 and 68 and 69 had the 302 for Trans Am racing. Chevrolet introduced the 350 cu in (5.7 L) LT-1 in 1970, making it available in both the Corvette and Camaro. It was an optional engine in the Corvette, and available and as part of the high-performance ZR-1 option. Between 1970 and 1972 only 53 ZRs were produced, making it one of the rarest Corvettes. In the Camaro, the engine was available only through the high performance Z/28 option, replacing the 302 cu in (4.9 L) engine designed to compete in Trans Am racing's 305 cu in (5.0 L) class installed in 1967-1969 cars. The LT-1 had an 11.0:1 compression ratio, Holley 780 cu ft/min (22 m3/min) 4-barrel carburetor, and solid lifters. For the first year the LT-1 was rated at 370 hp (276 kW) in the Corvette and 360 hp (268 kW) in the Camaro - both of these being brake horsepower (bhp) gross hp ratings. Despite the disparity between the two cars' listed hp there was no difference between the engines.

This Camaro isn't rare, nicer ones get crashed daily or turned into street stocks. Nothing special at all about the car. What they're doing will extend the life of the old car. And I'm a Camaro guy, but this car needs a full restoration which is very costly and the car isn't worth it. It's not a Z28 or special in any way whatsoever. What they're doing will make something of the car and if you love old Camaros you should be glad they picked this old Camaro to save. It is a solid old car and it should end up being awesome.

Somebody is feeling guilty about cutting up a classic Camaro. If you have to work so hard to find justifications for modding the car. Why bother.

It's a SAD DAY in the auto world, that's a real split bumper and are still worth money or a REAL rebuild. Can't watch because I love those vehicles....😢😢😢😢

@Chris Sperling there are small channels out there from guys in their home's garage, with just a few tools, that do a better job than these two butchers...

You'll live, and the car will be used instead of being garaged all its life and inflating the cost of others.

@Chris Sperling Eff you, it's not about having a show, it's the loss of another 1970s car that was kick-ass in its own right.

Of all the cars to cut up you chose a split bumper RS Camaro??? Ugh!!!! I know it's not my car therefore my comment and thoughts hold no water but me personally I would have found something less desirable
