7:10 Nothing is more characteristic of Farag's humanism and correct sportsmanship than that he stops immediately. This dude is light years away from an Asal bugger.

He didn't though, he only stopped after he played through to hit the ball lol

Congrats to both! Both coming back from injury with hunger. Hats off to Gawad who had the longest break to go this far…he just needs some tournaments under his belt to get back to #1

They both have great touch but Gawad’s just seems so effortless. I hope Gawad stays fit so we can watch a lot more of his squash!

Well done Ali, and a valiant effort this tournament from Karim, hopefully there's a lot more from him now he's back.

Well played Farag but I hope we continue to see Gawad in the finals of future tournaments. The game needs to see shotmakers triumph over the more defensive athletes at least some of the time.

Both finals spoilt by the demands of the semi finals, unfortunately this is happening too often in 5 game tournaments. I guess it would cost too much to keep the venues for a rest day before both semis and final which is a shame.

disappointing final from first couple of rallies. Gawad shouldn't have lost the first game.

He's a confidence player. Had he taken that first game the outcome would have been very different - 3-2 likely and a struggle to the death.

So if Gawad had to stop after the contact between him and Faraq what would the decision have been? Would it have been considered an opponent inflicted injury though unintentional. Just curious.
@stevehughes1510
@stevehughes1510 Жыл бұрын
Good question, I'd like to see an answer also. However I feel that as such an injury was unintentional and if Gawad was not able to continue the match would go to Farag.

Gawad was unfortunate to have an accident during the match, otherwise, he would have made it much harder for Faraq.

These guys are insanely good. Gawad the baby-faced assassin had big heart but Farag is too much. We need squash in the Olympics, that’ll get more people playing it.

Farag deserves the win for being tenacious however he doesn't amaze me.. Find him too defensive for my taste. I was rooting for Gawad cause he made too many beautiful shots in this tournament.

I agree and for the future of squash it is important that shotmakers like Gawad do win sometimes. Or all future players will be in that defensive mould.

how can people play squash?? don't you get bothered by your opponent being in the way all the time? like the clash at 7:07 I just don't see the appeal in this sport, if anyone can tell me what's so fun about this please tell me i'm curious ! xD

Can't blame the winners for peaking for the World Champs, and both winning both British Open and World Champs is a huge amount of consistency.
