I just watched this whole series of videos! So interesting and I like your style of recording. Very informative to someone who loves working on gas engines and is getting into diesel engines. I’m going to be buying an international 3800 bus this year as a project and I’m excited to get into the DT466. Thanks!

Sounds like a beast!! 🤯🤗 I myself, have a 2000 International (Thomas) 3800 school bus that has a DT466E with MT643 transmission. Great running bus up until the torque converter stopped fully locking up and now I’m trying to find someone or a place that can rebuild or sell me a torque converter for my bus. Any help to solve my problem?

How did you determine it was the IPR valve when it would not keep running?

i have a maxxforce dt , the cam sensor tip keeps wearing off every 3 months or so ... what can it be ?

Cam is riding front to back. Cam plate has wear. Try adding a tiny shim (thin washer (very thin)) on cam bolt between sensor bolt eyelet and timing cover. That should give you a bit more sensor life. It won’t leak oil due to the o-ring seal style. Hope that helps. The other (correct repair) is costly and time consuming. Removing cover and cam to inspect for worn parts. The only other thing that could cause this is debris slicing up your sensor. That would mean cam follower particles or something of that nature.

Just wondering what the difference is in a 466E and a maxxforce dt.? Mine is the single vnt turbo 285hp. From what I understand it's a 466E with a dpf? Thought I would pick your brain since you know these in and out.

Same block internals. Just changed all the add one and accessories. Followers are different and intake and exhaust. Sensors are different too.

Awesome, big diesel kinda new to me. Used to my lil VW,lol. We are doing bus conversion so it's not just our wheels it's our home. Having it "fixed" and 6th gear unlocked. Hoping with only 72k miles and being fixed it will last us a long time. Thanks for the great videos, whenever someone ask about injectors I send them your way.

hi joe i would like to ask you a technical question i have a 1997 international with a dt466e engine with a 6 speed manual transmission, i drive a lot within the city and the clutch is killing my knee and i need to make it automatic, could you give me information on what parts and allison transmission series I need to make my international automatic, I would be very grateful and I will make videos and send them to you if we manage to do that swap, thank you very much and I await your response
