Stavanger - Kristiansand - Oslo in Norway by train along the Sørlandsbane.

The Sørlandsbane (Sør railway line) is the name for the railway line between Stavanger and Oslo, also serving the city of Kristiansand, the trains on this routes are mentioned as Sørtoget (Sør train). Om this route there is one sleeper train in both directions, pretty much daily and there are several intercity long distance trains. For thos day trains, you can find diffrent trains, the faster tilting trains, I'm featuring in this video and locomotive hauled trains, I featured before (check • From Kristiansand to O... ). The train journey is absolutley beutiful, especially the section between Stavanger and Kristisansand. In Kristiansand you'll find day ferries to Denmark and towords the Netherlands.

I've used this line on several occasions the last year, and the panoramic single seats have always been my go-tos. There's only two of them but they've usually been available when booking a week in advance. Great video!

Mr. Trainviking - you do such a good job with every trip report. This one was particularly strong. Norway is a beautiful country and now I have another part of the country to visit whenever I go back.

I loved this video!! The music, and the amount of talking ratio was perfect, and I think adding the environmental impact made this video so special. Awesome!

Thank you so much. I have to say that for the Norway video's the music is also something I think that matches great. Right now I'm in Taiwan (kind of 2nd home) and my girlfriend doesn't want me to use any Asian kind of music haha, that's going to be hard.

Man the train is just full of quirky nordic design choices. I mean where else would you have a space intended for a door and say "Oh I know, lets have big panorama windows and atypical ammenities there" like the extra panoramic single seats or the lounge chairs in the cafe car. Its honestly more akin to design choices you'd find onboard Nordic built ships around the same era.

Sadly the ferry line between Kristiansand and the Netherlands is no longer operative, as the company went bankrupt a few months ago...

I know really a pitty, however there are several companies that want to re launch this connection. When I took this ferry after this video it was one of the last times the ferry went to Eemshaven, after that it went to Germany. Also the boat they where using, wasn't suitable for this route I guess. I honestly think there should be more space for freight and less focus on mini cruise (also mini cruise but as a side business, if you only look.at the amount of Salmon from Norway we are consuming in Europe, we can fill a ferry easily with trucks).

The bus between Bergen and Stavanger and back again do not need to be booked in advance. If there are no seats left they fetch another bus in addition to

Oh really? I didn't knew that. However I guess it's always good to play safe, just more relaxed to travel (as a tourist, for locals this might be different). Just like for today's video I'll post, totally different country though haha.

Ik weet niet hoe lang je hier nog bent, maar aankomende maandag/dinsdag - is er een hele grote kans om het noorderlicht te zien vanaf Oslo!
