I played guitar in a band for whom a minor chord was a giant challenge. I used add2 and 4ths constantly to build their sound because they could be layered onto their major and barre chords with little risk. It gave us a whole new sound, eventually working its way into the band’s writing.

That is a really interesting story actually and bears a lot of exploring, how you can add to existing simple chords without fear of it interfering like you say. Thanks for sharing

I liked the video. May I suggest that in the start of the vid there is some aimless scrolling that could be cleaned up along with the mouse dancing around a bit too much? I have some experience, so see what you think. Content was terrific.

The verses in Southern Man (Neil Young) repeat mi11- mi 7 (although I suspect he didn't conceive it that way).

Loved the G add 2 / A add 2 thing. It's little things like this that make me reach for my guitar. Edit: Turns out that add 2 is kind of tricky on the guitar. Nines are way easier. Maybe there's a tuning that could facilitate add 2s? Also, stacked fourths is basically the standard guitar tuning EADGBE. :)

Very informative video. Edgar Winter put out an album called jazzin the blues. The song keys to the kingdom off that album really had me scratching my head as far as the chords being used. Check it out if you get a chance. Thanks for your expertise!
