Great video. I will say that a 1-1/16" socket is the perfect size to land on the outer part of the bearing when driving in the input shaft seal. Also, using a small punch to push each individual ball into the worm gear makes quick work of getting the BB's back into place.

What if there is no outer ring ? When you started to take the actual worm gear apart to rebuild it, that first ring that you removed with a hammer and screw driver. Mine doesn't have that outer ring. How do I get it apart so I can pull out the worm gear? I bought that harbor freight pin tool and tried to turn it cause mine don't have that ring. But it won't budge. So what is different? I'm working on a gear box for a 91 toyota pickup. It looks exactly like yours.

I had the same problem as you on a spare gearbox I bought. Decided to ignore it and hope that it's not a problem area. More specifically, if that large locking nut in the valve body (that you need the pin spanner for) was 360 degrees looser than it previously was, could this cause the slop? I may have tightened it up a rotation less than what I marked it at....
