Finally we are going to take a very close look on the STEINHART OCEAN 39 CERAMIC GMT in this indepth review. I hope you will like this video. We are going to go over couple of questions: Is the Steinhart actually just a cheap copy, why a few people do say it is not a real GMT and who should by it? This and more we are going to discuss in todays video.

Hi Konstantin, I would like to win the Steinhart Ocean GMT, it's a good looking watch and I've always loved the 'Pepsi' bezel and the 39mm size is ideal for my 16.5cm wrist. I had an 42mm Ocean One DLC a few years ago, but found it didn't sit well on my wrist because of the straight lugs. Nice review, shows the watch well and I think you're getting 75% of the Rolex for only 8% of the (retail) price, if you could actually get one from an AD!

When people say it's not a "real GMT", what they mean is that the watch doesn't have a primary hour quickset; instead, it has a GMT hour quickset, which makes it less useful when travelling between timezones.

@@mb-watches So you did, but as you also sagely point out, what is a "true GMT "is a matter of definition, and I prefer the Steinhart configuration because it is so much easier to set the date, when, (as you said), you haven't worn the watch for awhile, and don't want to have to cycle the hour hand to get back to the correct date. It is obviously pretty easy to offset the time zone just by rotating either the bezel or the GMT hand

I have not had any experience with owning a Steinhart I was looking to purchasing a Tudor GMT but its a but out of my budget im looking for a cheaper alternative my search brought me to your channel to learn about it and After watching I really feel like this is a great GMT for the price!

I have 17cm wrist. And a year ago I got a 39 Blue ceramic. Awesome watch with a very high class finish. No doubt Steinhart is truly rivalling Tissot and Certina in same, or maybe higher price range. But the 39mm model looks a bit small for my taste. I would like a Pepsi Steinhart 42mm but I am still a bit doubtful about the straight lugs, which Steinhart has got a lot of criticism for. 47mm l2l of 39mm version works very good, but will I perceive 50mm l2l of 42mm version too big?...

To me, no. I have a friend who rocks that watch with a wrist of 16,5cm and it does look alright. Maybe you have the chance to try it on or purchase it used from a watch forum market space and if you think it’s too big you can flip it. But I think you’ll be fine with it 👍🏻

@@mb-watches I will give the 42 a chance. When ordering from Steinhart I can send the watch back and replace it providing no adjustment is done and the protective film is not removed. When it comes to the difference between 39 and 42mm version I noticed another thing except from the size. At 39mm size the edge between the bezel and dial is straight. But at 42mm the edge is angled so you when looking at the watch from straight above you see the metal surface of the side, like with Rolex. This looks much nicer! And if I recall right the dials of 39mm and 42mm models are the same size. This shows how important the bezel and lugs are for the total impression of the watch. 39mm could certainly be fine but I want the pondus of the larger size.

Similar to the friend you mention, I am lucky enough to be able to enjoy all levels of watches. I enjoy Steinharts for being able to travel and not worry, and when I am knocking around the house it’s nice to not care about the occasional ding. In addition, you cannot beat the value proposition. Although every viewer would choose the Rolex GMT 100 out of 100 times if given the chance at getting it at an affordable price, the Rolex that is $15K today and $20K tomorrow is just too far out of reasonable-reach for many. What I find perplexing is the praise of a watch like the Gevril Tribeca, which is near a 1:1 copy of the Newman Daytona, versus the guilt watch snobists inflict upon Steinhart owners, especially when they are not complete copies. I adhere to the cliché of buying what you like, to include both Gevril and Steinhart, and not caring about what others think. Thanks again for the video!

Thanks for your thoughts and you are right, I was actually pretty surprised about quite a lot of negative feedback for the steinhart when I did uploaded the unboxing. The only problem I have is with brands who produce fakes, I don’t mind a well made Hommage watch. And as the Rolex wheel do spinning it’s really a pain to get one. I am happy I did purchase back than in 2011, the life was there far easier for watch collectors. Have a great Sunday 👍🏻🙏🏻

@@mb-watches Just ordered my second Steinhart - a new classic GMT ceramic in 42 mm. I have an Ocean 39 with the green ceramic bezel, and am delighted with every aspect of this watch, though it fits a bit small on my 7 1/4 inch wrist. Don't let the watch snobs put you off Steinharts, they are solid, handsome, well built, reliable and durable watches. Bravo to Gunter Steinhart for bringing us these watches at what he describes as "honest prices"!

Hello! "Konstantin, I want to win the Steinhart Ocean GMT". I really like the design line of this watch and have been watching it for some time. Also because it is very similar to the Rolex gmt, which initially was a watch aimed at pilots, adding to the fact that I already wanted to be a pilot.

Steinhart makes a great watch that stands on its own. Check out the ocean vintage military and ocean vintage military 39. The jubilee is fantastic. "Konstantin, I want to win the Steinhart Ocean GMT."

I love, LOVE Steinhart watches. They are great watches - and not just "for the money." They are great watches. Rolex has insanely overpriced their pieces. Yes, Rolex watches are beautiful pieces, but so are the Steinharts.

It’s a bit more boring on my channel as I wear my watches in Intervalls, so currently and also in the vid I do wear the Breitling avenger Chrono 43mm, one of my favourites in the collection.
