Movement for this watch is either an ETA2824-2 or a SW200. Steinhart uses these movements interchangeably.
@laurenceharrison6614 жыл бұрын
I did ask Steinhart that question as the booklet said either or. Steinhart said they couldn't be sure so they put ETA 2824/ SW200.lol

Ah a fellow Singaporean! I bought mine from Gnomon about 4 months ago. It wears really well and the ceramic bezel is so glossy and striking! Swam with it already as well. Works the way as it should. I've had no problems with the bezel on mine. Such a solid and beautiful timepiece. Bang for the buck with this watch. I'm loving mine!

I've owned this watch from new for the last 4 years and I wouldn't part with it. I also found the bezel to be very tight from new but it does loosen in normal use; easy enough to rotate with two finger and no play whatsoever. As long as you don't try to prize it open or anything like that you'll be fine ;-)

I was considering the Green dial Hulk version or the Batman GMT version both 39mm by Steinhart as well ! The Green is really bright cheery and the Batman GMT looks handsome too but lugs bit longer .. my 6.5inch wrist can't take 42mm as lugs would come real close to edge of wrist. But I won't buy for time being as I felt might be some quality issues later! I got a Squale Ferrovia but sadly the movement got jammed after only 2 months and the shop gave me a new replacement! I hang onto my Davosa Ternos for time being ! Thanks 4 pointing out the bezel issue ...

Very well articualted review. Regarding big and "small" watches. 39mm to 42mm are perfect sizes for a dive watch - but, and it's a big "but" - the lug length also influences how big will watch wear. I wore a 38mm Gerard Perregaux chronograph for years - it looked way bigger on wrist and had massive presence because of the long lugs. I now wear a 43.5mm Citizen ecodrive which has 47mm long lugs so it wears perfectly. But 9 times out of 10 anything bigger than 44mm is way too big for the average male wrist size.

Re the bezel: Buy a very soft toothbrush. Rinse the watch under luke-warm water while *gently* brushing the bezel. Brush all around at a 90° angle - as if you were trying to get the brush between the case and the bezel. Do that for a minute or two... rinse watch again for a bit then let it dry out. Helped me when my 39mm Steinhart's bezel started acting up. 3:30 Not sure if they use the exact same hands (so difficult to tell when you're looking at two watches of different size). I will say however that I'm looking at my 42mm O1 Ceramic Green right now and its minute-hand does touch (just barely) the shortest of the minute markers on the chapter-ring. Same goes for my 42mm OVM and its sword-hands ... its minute hand also just touches those short minute markers. I did have the Batman titanium GMT (42) and the 39mm Batman GMT in my hands for direct comparison and I'm pretty sure those two did use the exact same set of hands because they looked a bit too fat and chunky on the 39mm version. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Mercedes hands of the "normal" O1 were also identical in size on both the 39 and 42mm version.

I only wish that the lug design is more curvy to make it look nicer than it's current 'straight' looking side profile. I have the first batch watch from Gnomon and the bezel sucks. It cant line up properly and the backplay is pretty bad for a 490 dollars watch. After 2 years plus, the issue on date change starts to occur when the date wheel gets stuck sometimes when u change the date. Its wrist time is super low too so this kinda issue shouldn't occur. I guess the QC isnt that good even with the ETA movement as compared with my Tissot beater that i wear on a daily basis for 6yrs (without service) before getting into watch collecting hobby.

Well I would think the degree of stiction between the bezel and the case depends on the size of the gap. The same is true of high quality break-action shotguns. They are tight when delivered, and loosen up over the years with use, and I would expect the same to be true of the bezel on this watch. Your shenanigans with the dental floss and then actually trying to pry the bezel up likely have the watchmakers at Steinhart pulling their hair out. Would you try this with a Rolex? You seem to start with the assumption that the Steinhart is a poor quality cheap watch, that you can fix with your amateurish interventions. These are high quality watches, and deserve better treatment than this. The fact that this model looks like a Rolex submariner does not make it a cheap knockoff.
