A few thousand alloys can mean the difference between victory and defeat! But how can we use tech beelining to manipulate Stellaris and give us the techs we need?
Lets dive in!

Hi there, Jernsaxe from the video. Very nice description of the trick. It is important to stress that what Montu showed here wasn't even a best case scenario. Getting mote tech as your 9th physic tech is very bad luck, in my testing I would get it 7th or 8th in 9 out of 10 of my test games. If you dont get it 7th, taking the research alternative tech is perfect, but if you dont get that I recommend taking FTL because it have the highest tech weight of any tier 2 tech and it can drown out other alternatives. This trick is even stronger with a build like Montu's technocracy build, because you get a bigger effect of particles and materials scientists. With 400 tech like Montu had in the video you should get the alloy forge tech some time between year 13 and 17. Trusting RNG can mean you don't get the forges for the first 30 years or more.

For saving up engineering points, does your scientist’s specialization play a role at all? Normally if I have an industry scientist and an industry tech, that match speeds up the research (I thought it gave me more points). With this you wouldn’t get any of those bonuses. Or does the bonus (from marching scientist specialization to tech) decrease the amount of points needed per tech?

@@bodemonoolho5011 if you rush it early enough, then the galactic community doesn't consider you a threat, because the trigger for that only goes off if you pick it up after it forms. A good way to go for it is a Death Cult Clone Army. You can get large happiness and stability bonuses for the first few years while pumping out a shit ton of unity and having some pretty decent and cheap armies. The alternative is that you go for a high trade value build, rush federations, and set up a colony with only an outpost to release and turn into your federation partner, get fuck tonnes of unity, energy and consumer goods, which go straight back into energy that way.

I'm really glad they changed it so that taking traditions from multiple trees doesn't increase the unity cost like it used to. Let's you skip out on the crappy traditions in a tree for better ones in other trees with the only cost being slower ascension perks and no tradition completion perk. I've had a couple instances where I could not for the life of me roll the specific tech I needed for an ascension perk and dipping into discovery instead of finishing a tree with an underwhelming completion bonus really helped me get it easier.

Great video, if you want more video Ideas, I would *LOVE* a video where you went through each tier of the tech trees to say what your priorities should be. I always struggle to choose between options like Research Speed vs the lump sum Unity tech in the tier 1 society tree. A video where you broke down per tier what the best options were, or niche case ones etc would be super handy! Also a general "Common sense" video might help too. Like whether you should colonize every green planet the second you have the starbase built, or if you should wait until X time etc. My last few games I've been colonizing every world as fast as I can, but I end up where I don't have the minerals to build districts on them all fast enough, and then later on end where I don't have enough pops to work all the jobs fast enough
@somewhereelse1235
@somewhereelse1235 2 жыл бұрын
So while I may be late on giving some advice here, but I recommend that you don't ever have any more than 2-3 planets developing (I.E. less than 5 pops) per fully developed planets (I.E 15-20 pops) at the same time. Early game this will be just 2-3 planets, late game you should have a strong enough economy to support dozens of planets (likely ringworlds) being colonized and developed at the same time. Of course, some variables may affect this, such as a weak economy from mining stations or planets, making it hard to support more than 1 developing planet per developed planet.

I’m guessing that arc emitters are good against fallen empires because they have 10X repeatable tech (so overwhelming amounts of shield and armor). Additionally, they’re also using dark matter components, and dark matter shields are better than regular shields. Hence, just bypassing them might be more effective than trying to hit them head on.

The idea of tech beelining is great, and it provides a means for more experienced players to exert better control over their runs and rely less on RNG. I am glad you mentioned the change to traditions as well, mixing and matching them more freely will expand the possible avenues of advancement and build freedom. Being able to change into another tradition as conditions change in the run can be immensely rewarding, like pulling away from prosperity to do a bit of expansion if you suddenly start finding a bunch of usable planets. Going to keep this tip in mind, might change my games.

A couple factual issues with this vid. First, many tier 2 techs, especially in the engineering tree, have soft timegates. Ship tiers, spaceport upgrades, and habitats (among others) all have these timegates. As such, these end up quite safe investments, especially if you only do 5 tier 1 techs, as these techs have 1/10 the weight to show up before the timegate, which means that it’s extremely rare for them to show up. Second, a lot of techs, like powered exoskeletons, and many in the society tab, may seem to have multiple unlocks, but that’s because gestalt empires have their own variants of the normal tech. This, combined with the first point, makes the benefit of skipping techs to keep the pool small pretty minimal. Thirdly, because of how Stellaris research compounds, your economy will likely end up underdeveloped by missing those 10 years of research. Yes, you research at double speed for 10 years, but you’ve missed out on up to 10 years worth of having those techs, which can end up severely hindering the snowball.

See, what I do is thanks to having NSC and Gigas, is set up tech rush directly into Exploration ships. Then I use the modules on the ships to give me 28 alloy per ship. As long as I keep expanding my ship cap, I can keep building them until I can get alloy planets running. Then I begin to build Giga forges and Hyperforges and I never run out of alloys until the end of the game. This always works, but it’s the surviving at the start of the game that is the trick.

The best way should be to avoid excess ressources. Remember that you will never have too much ships, tech or unity so you’d better use your excess for that. Too much minerals= more alloys, too much alloys= more fleet/ megastructures, too much consumer goods= more unity/ tech, and so on. By selling your excess you are inevitably losing a part of it and its value will crumble as soon as you start to sell it. In most cases, it’s a mistake to rely on the market in my opinion and there are better ways to make energy

The tech we want is tier 1, but has tier 2 physics prerequisites. So we need to limit the number of rolls we have for tier 1 tech in eng before we get the physics mote tech. Otheriese the pool of possible tech gets bigger (tier 2 is inculded) and it becomes much more rng to get the alloy tech

I must just be bad at the game, I always feel like between academic privilege, spamming scientists and trying not to pull every single one of my pops out of my worker jobs on the capital I am always lacking in consumer goods long before I run out of metallurgists. Am I not supposed to employ the metallurgists on my capital world and only on the forge world? I always full employ my capital and end up supplementing my lack of worker pops by needing a rural world/specialized energy/mineral depending on my space stations before switching my industrial world to a full on forge world.

@@roblaquiere8220 that's a good question. I guess my answer is I use all normal game mechanics to my advantage. Downgrading ships is an intentionally designed mechanic, it's the upgrading to different hulls that acts unexpectedly. Using console commands to cheat isn't a normal gameplay mechanic. As a side note: I usually play single player, occasionally playing with close friends. Not abusing game mechanics ins a public lobby

3:37 This is something I hate about Stellaris and have never understood. It says "All must be false", meaning to roll Holographic Casts you MUST NOT have ANY of the 3 techs listed there. If all "Has X technology" are FALSE, meaning I don't have any of them, THEN can I roll Holographic Casts...

Okay, that's you misreading it, it's weight = 0, all must be false. Meaning that if all are false, then the spawning weight is 0.
@tsunamizero02
@tsunamizero02 2 жыл бұрын
I was a little confused at first but I think I figured it out: it's the weight modifier. The 0.0x weight modifier only applies if all the conditions are false, meaning it is impossible to research the tech unless one of the conditions is true. Weight=0 is like checking for 21 on a d20. Edit:18 seconds too slow.

How. Do. You. Manage. Minerals? Seriously. The mineral upkeep for this kind of alloy production is absurd. I feel like my games are running different settings to yours. I’m running crippling mineral deficits with HALF the alloy production you showcase here. My economy nosedives and I run out of energy credits to buy minerals with, resulting in shortages and a resulting collapse of alloy production.
