Grab your space harpoons boys and girls, the Paradox team has added new mechanics to the 2.7 update that allows us to start whaling them space cows and amoeba for fun and profit. Today we're going to take a look at the in and outs of how to embrace your inner Ahab and find your white whale to shoot your heart at.

Funny thing: If the resolution of denouncing the empires that are hunting space whales is passed, then all the space whales are protected, including the Leviathan space whale. Had to learn that the hard way...

I just learned this too, accidentally sent 4 end game battleships through the system with it. Now I’m subject to literally every sanction cause I passed them all. I’m still the senate tho

Something I've noticed is that when you have amoeba pacified wandering amoeba fleets seem to actively seek out your systems to hang out in, like I started a xenophile game with maybe one static amoeba and one patrol in my area but by midgame there were 3-4 patrolling fleets. If this is an actual mechanic that tracks the Amoeba should be able to repopulate their home system if it gets wiped out and xenophiles who've pacified them take the system (or the galactic community makes it law to have them pacified and the system holder is a member).

I've noticed this too. The space amoebas are all hanging out in the hegemony next to my empire, who are mostly xenophiles.

Yeah, I've pacifed them because I make about 300 energy credits a month and there is just a ton of them

I find it to be more useful to be friendly to all of the creatures. I do enjoy watching pirates get destroyed by them because they never spawn big enough to kill them. Pirates: Easy target boys Space Faring Creatures: Easy target boys

I had seen the option to hunt or cease hunting the space whales but thought it was just some fun fluff. Gotta say I like that it added a bit of fun possibility. Side note, been cutting trees all week to build a duck pen. Finally finished it this morning. I'd rather be inside taking over the galaxy lol

It's a step in the right direction but I still think there could be more added. I wish there was more of a resolution to them other than hunt them to extinction, or ignore them completely. There's also the other three, crystals, drones and clouds, which basically have no story to them whatsoever. I'm still surprised they didn't add any sort of interaction between lithoids and the crystals at all, for example.

the clouds are supposed to be mystrious the drones are just old broken drones but i agree there really should be a interaction bewteen lithoid empires and the crystal nydas system

Note that at the moment the space whale protection resolution in the galactic community is bugged: if the resolution is in the queue, even if it hasn't passed, you will get the penalties for killing them as if it was already against the galactic law

I still prefer the 5% evasion from just researching Amoeba and still don't give a crap about Tiyanki. I don't wanna float my economy on them and I don't want to go to the effort of protecting them... XD

I go pacification because if it takes them a month or half of one to destroy them that's half a month they arent targeting the station in the system... also helps that the Tiyanki system spawned next to my homeworld and then I kitted it out eventually with a 25k station

Well, it takes them a long time to pass it, but it's imediately propsed. In my case, they proposed the month after the founding of the community, but I was fighting the endgame crysis when it finally was passed.

Unless they were significantly buffed the ameboa fighters suck compared to tier 2 and 3, really don't use them unless you're looking for an improvement over tier 1 fighters.

This games performance is STILL epicly poor despite the "so called improvements which i cant even see. even running the game at full speed mid game is slower than the slowest setting at the star no point in having anything more than a small star system as the Game it's self cant handle the options it gives you bought a pc for £4,000+ runs all games amazingly this game still runs like DOG SHIT on a shoe

I mean, my dinky little $500 laptop is doing alright, runs a bit slow after year 2360 until I turn the settings to medium...whereby it gets better until 2450. And this is me running a pretty big galaxy, mind you i’m not even set up for gaming...even if I wish I was. It may have something to do with other factors.
