Then, after his coworkers covered up her murder, he visited Stephanie in Hawaii. The fact that he could work with his fiancés murderer, as well as the corrupt cops who refused to investigate her, says a lot about his character. He’s obviously not directly responsible for the murder, but he did get his fiancé killed, and that should haunt him for the rest of his life. Hopefully he’s learned the dangers of deceiving and playing people, but based on his behavior, I don’t think it bothered him that much.

Other police had to escort her from the incident. It's pretty clear that there is a connection to the crime and only her being part of the investigating police department kept her from being arrested during the initial investigation. DNA matching only her among 5 possible perpetrators is extremely strong evidence. You're saying here that your experience indicates that a gang member did this and pinned it on her, am I right?

She had a lot going for her, but she had this crazy side she managed to keep under wraps most of the time. I come from a LE family and a lot of cops are adrenaline junkies, especially the young ones. From a guy's perspective, she was probably a mighty exciting lay and John thought if he acted like this was just a FWB thing then she'd get on the same page too, even after she was obviously stalking his girlfriend. Men and women are different that way. He was in denial about the potential danger he was putting Sherri in, probably didn't think a woman would ever get violent like that.

Gotta say, those 2 Detectives here were masterful. I don't know how they managed to make their Investigation seem more like a random observation and less like an intense interrogation, but they succeeded in doing just that. They did what they had to do in order to make the recorded interrogation stand up under scrutiny after being first found to be admissible in court. Everyone did their due diligence and Truth will out sooner or sometimes considerably later. But always in perfect concordance with God's timing to coordinate multitudinous happenings with each other

John's anguish at having been a causal factor in Sherri's murder seemed genuine to me (see footage of his statement at trial). He didn't just say it was a mistake but clearly felt genuine remorse even a quarter century later. I think it does say something about the casual attitude many men take toward sex, even while married or engaged. The breach of trust is real and can have devastating consequences. If someone wants to be polyamorous, the absolute minimum to be ethical about it is to have the informed consent of all parties. But I'm convinced he knows that now and regrets it. Stephanie was clearly manipulating him, so I can understand that he fell for this briefly after the murder. John was convinced that she couldn't and wouldn't have done it. So another mistake of his was excessive trust of police just for being police. She was police, so he thought she couldn't have done it, and the investigating officers backed that up by ruling her out despite the evidence. "She was a sociopath, pure and simple." I leaned toward BPD myself, though I'm grateful that Dr. Grande pointed out that there's not enough info to confirm a pattern. My reason for leaning that way is just her histrionics in general -- not just about losing partners, and committing such a senseless murder, but also how she reacted during the interrogation. "This is insane!" over and over. It just reminded me of BPD people I've encountered. Sociopaths I've seen in interrogations seem to be able to stay much calmer and calculated. I could be mistaken about both, of course. I'm not a psychologist.

In my opinion, John is also responsible for Sherri's death. He had to have known who killed her.

Even if we’re crazy party animals… But he got caught blowing rails in his friends car he borrowed … head shootsback w/a $bill and BOOM 💥 GUESS WHO SWEETHEART?! 💀😩 Another cop comes, …. Takes over… mind u, it’s MY DAD SO no license, his friend has absolutely no registration, mind u he’s NOT even there cause, that’s how my dad rolls!) After they were left alone; while my dad is PLEADING w/ the cop that my mom IS NOT gonna bail him out …. AGAIN & being high as ALL fuck knowing he’s got nothing to lose, he goes “I WILL GIVE U 1/2 AN 8 ball OF THIS WHJCH IS THE BEST SHIT IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE ANNNNND split all my weed w/u at the house!” Mind you my dad was in handcuffs in the back of the car at this point…. cop turns around…. Goes “damn….. Must be some GOOOOOOOOOOD shit…” His name was Roy…. He & my dad friends ever since. my mom always told the story of how she got up in the middle of the nite to get something to drink, only to see my dad…. On the couch…. W/a cop…. And a bong….. She thought she was dreaming until our neighbors wondered WTF 1 COP w/o his lights on was doing over at 2:30 in the morning???! 💀💀💀💀💀 New meaning to the phrase “protect & Serve-the FUCK UP” 😩😩😩 Ngl… I miss Tampa when it comes to that shit. Although they have some BAAAAD cops…. U have the good ones that r just down to earth …. Would rather give a bunch 16yr olds walking w/6pack a ride home than arrest them or ‘give a fine’ In Miami… 9/10…. It’s just DOOOOOOOOUCHE MCGEEEES ALLLLL OVER

It doesn't sound to me that there was any real remorse on the killer's part. That she would not be investigated because she was an officer and her unfaithful lover said "she could not have done it," is a poor excuse not to investigate her. I believe the boyfriend/victim's husband was playing a dangerous game and should bear some of the responsibility for this, at least in a moral way if not a legal way. He has some responsibility for this outcome.
