"...it's out of your control, it's real, and that it'll pass." Words of wisdom.
@HalloLuja
@HalloLuja 5 ай бұрын
It is out of your control. You may try things that could help, you may have an impact on it. But you don't control it. That is, what it makes so hard to work on it - you just try out and need a lot of strength to keep working on it. But in the end it is worth the struggle to learn how to come better through those times that come and go out of your control.

For many years i responded to those feelings by using alcohol to block them out. Thinking they'd go away. Or at least that while i was drunk i didn’t have to cope with them. But they always did come back. And i had a hangover too. These last few years, I've learned the truth as spoken here by Stephen. Just enough to cling on to. Just enough to get me through. Know on your death bed you wernt a victim to depression.. you survived it I believe in you man. I seriously needed to hear this today. It’s been 10years that clinical depression along with an anxiety disorder has ruined my life. I’m 33 and only in the last year have things improved slightly. This short made a big impact as there is always that thought that we do this to ourself. No, actually it’s how our brains work and there is no control. Anyone reading this going through similar, please start to exercise if you don’t already do so. People have told us that for years but since I started to take it seriously, the cloud is slowly but SURELY lifting, one day at a time🙏🏻 Stay strong and thinking of all of you out there who can’t see the light yet, keep the faith!

Been having a hard time maintaining where I am at life. I've been through hell and back all because of my disorder/illness and Im fighting not to be back in that place. Ive gained so much, Im now living my best life, Ive achieved things i never thought I could and to lose it all because of my mental health crumbling scares the shit out of me. It preys on the things i love the most and I fall for its tricks and make stupid decisions all because I was "stuck in fear" and when that cloud clears up, I realise how stupid my decisions were and that it cost me everything I valued all because at that moment everything felt "real" when in reality, I was just being irrational and can no longer tell what's real and what isnt. Im stuck in the box and cant see the situation from the outside. The reality of how fragile my mental health is and how powerful the illness/disorder can be is so disheartening. I will keep trying to get on with my life but if one day, my mental health crumbles and takes me out, know I've always seen it coming and that I am highly aware of what Its capable of doing to me.

@@jaycielleThis is BS. It is happening because of him. New studies show that most anxiety and depression comes from what you choose to put in your gut (eat or drink). I cured my anxiety and depression by prolong fasting, eating wholes foods, taking sugar completely out of my diet and stopped drinking. Then added some workouts and 6 day a week sauna. Ppl don’t want to hear this though because all that I mentioned takes discipline and work. Ppl would rather treat it than prevent it.

I really love this. I am autistic, so there's no "passing", per se, but there's something similar I take into my mind. The boat is gonna rock for a bit and I need to focus on keeping balance. It's gonna stop rocking, but I'll always be in the boat. But I always try to advise my clients (I work in mental health) awareness, acceptance, management, in that order. Become aware of the cards you're dealt and what any specific accommodations you will need (from yourself first and foremost), accept that these are your cards but they're still playable if not in a neurotypical sense (work with what you have and don't strive to be "normal"), and see which cards give you the most trouble and try to design your life in a way that makes those things easier to live with (whether that's medication, therapy, or just saying no when you've reached your cap, all are valid.)

I watch this vid over and over when I’m down. It helps. Does anyone know of similar videos to watch for comfort when dangerously depressed?

Thank you, Steven. You're a real inspiration as I have been through so much of the same.. Boarding school and so much more that I learned about you. Thanks for talking about it. You have been an inspiration to me for so many years. A part of my life that I hold sacred.

This kind of kindness is exactly what we need, both as creatures dealing with this kind of impediment and silent observers.
