Carly and James Taylor had a huge hit with MOCKINGBIRD in the mid 1970's...and we absolutely loved watching Carly do this with Stephen. Carly is amazing as always...she looks fabulous...and she recently turned 70!!

This was fun. I love that she went along when she really didn't seem too sure. One of the rare times when it did not seem rehearsed and Colbert getting his guests to play along is absolutely his strong suit.

I loved seeing Carly and wow she her voice is as powerful as ever! She brought a big grin with her vivacious presence. Well done Stephen for this performance with her. What a treasure!

wow this is going to sound super cheesy, but I don't remember seeing such a wholesome moment on TV in a very long time. Stephen and Carly Simon look like they were genuinely enjoying the moment. And you have the whole audience involved! However, I question whether this performance was rehearsed or not, but it is wholesome nonetheless.

I think he was supposed to follow up Carly's woahs with his own but he missed it.

I don't think it was rehearsed. The second half had a lot of made up words but pros that they are, they just kept going. You could feel the connection. Spontaneous and real. He seems to lean toward the older audience, like me, a true baby boomer who loves Carly Simon and James Taylor. Oh the good old days of 60s folk music and hootenannies!

You’re so vain is the first song I vividly remember as being my favorite. (I’m slightly younger than 60) I get a real boost every time I hear it.

Is there anything Stephen Colbert isn't good at? He has wonderful rhythm and dances very well. He did a very fair version of James Taylor's part of Mockingbird with Carly Simon and it was so cool. She's finally conquered her stage fright!
