I will be making one of these. Thank you for your work and showing the areas to be cautious. Too much of this world would expect you to show the math and be responsible for someone putting their hand into the blades. We both know it is what it is. I hope mine turns out as good. Hope all is well.

Awsome job. Only afterthought suggestion for you to still do or anyone else building one including me when i copy your idea. Have a metal collar that the bolts go through. This way you can tighten right down to deck as tight as you want and theres no stress on the fiberglass. Could use anything, a nutsert or even nut with the threads drilling out if your cheap like me.. 👍

Congratulations for this beautiful achievement which inspires me a lot. Fixing the evacuation duct seems urgent to me, because at this price, it is worth protecting it. A simple iron rod would do. From France.

Interesting build and a great job engineering it. I would suggest running a ground wire kill switch from the blower motor to somewhere on the mower where you could reach it real quick if you ever have problems again and need to shut down the blower. Looking forward to more adventures!

GREAT JOB on building this. I just bought a Kubota BX 2380 tractor/mower. I am going to build something like this but hang it off my 3 point in the back. I am going to power the blower with the PTO. It will entirely hang off the 3 point and not be a trailer. The tractor is pretty heavy so even if I had a lot of lawn clippings in it I don't think weight will be a problem. I am going to make the cage part removable like you did so I can use the back end as a kind of pickup bed for hauling stuff around. Love how you built the dump system.

If you drive in a clockwise direction, there would be less chance of the hose coming off as it's currently configured. Might consider changing the mount on the rear of the tractor to something flexible like a spring.

I like it. The blade failure is dynamic movement. Just remove the impeller, put it on a small shaft. Drill holes in heaviest blade on bottom. Spin until all blades balance. Fifteen minute job. Just great job.

Looking GOOD!! Sounds like you need some kind of "Kill Switch" at the tractor for the motor for a quick shut down if anything like that happens again. I know, easier said than done!

It’s some nice work. I’d make that back plate 14”, or you’re going to have it happen again. To improve your welding, slow your hand speed down, increase your wire feed and amperage a little bit. You’ll see an improvement and better penetration.

Change the angle of the blade so you get a vortex and add gussets so blade could mulch too.

Amazing job! I’m interested in doing something similar off of my Kubota but I’m wondering if it is possible to do without the vacuum/motor. I’m most interested in grass clippings. It’s a large, powerful deck and it certainly throws grass a long way without the shield on. Any thoughts on that?

You might want to place a strip of sheet metal the width of the exit to the top of cage to help deflect the output of the blower down in to the cage.

Throw a tarp over the cage to keep the dust down and you got it made

You could weld a ring around the side opposite of the motor the strengthen up the blades and maybe put some toggle clamps for the cage oh and some filter material cause that thing was putting out some dust

Omg way too much dust coming out the catcher git containe that better thumbs down I have craftsman steel pull behind box from late 70's / 80's and I'm not putting all that dust in air.
