These shows should never die. It's gotten to the point where the teen generations of today have no idea what it was like back then and most of their grandparents were too young to remember as well. One more generation and these shows will be educational more than ever.

wonderful episode, beautifully colourised ruined only by the callous audience laughing at poor Hercules death!always bugged me how they found it funny when most of us were sad!!

I've been to serious plays before where the most emotional lines for some reason garner a fit of laughter from everyone in the audience, usually the old farts with a few dozen whiskys down their throats

I love old man steptoe. Cracks me right up with the facial expressions. It's just really odd seeing this in colour so used to watching it in b&w. But if it's in colour or b&w this programme will always be a true classic

The start is honestly hard to watch. Good comedy needs a bit of salt and vinegar; this proves it. "30 pieces of silver" was both funny and painful. There is social history here - the bit where they seal the handshake with spit when agreeing the horse deal is authentic.
