Sterling Vintage Japanese Class 15 Sewing Machine Demo Video

The Sterling was made in Japan in the 1950s, patterned after Singer's famous class 15 sewing machines, like the Singer 15-91. It was made with a strnger motor, better features, great detailing, and a better clearcoat finish that doesn't yellow, flake, or peel like the Singer machines, unfortunately, were susceptible to.

I just learned more watching this one video than an entire days worth of others! I'd almost given up on seeing a machine that had the similar features to my vogue stitch machine. Thanks a bunch!!!

My niece just gave me a vintage stirling in cabinet, model is a treadle sewing machine. It looks like it is at least a hundred years old, i have been searching the web but cannot find any info on this machine...my question to you is do you have any suggestions to help me find out the history of this sewing machine? I am so excited to clean this baby up & refinishing the cabinet, also I do believe it works omg so thrilled...thankyou in advance if you are able to give me any direction to help.

I found one at an Antique thrift store, however, the name on it is Comtomatic made in Japan. I do not know if it is a class 15 or a Featherweight replica? have you heard of a Comtomatic sewing machine black as the Singer Vintage sewing machines? any information will help me. I just need to have the machine service. great video

I jusr got one that says countess. i think its it company brand that sold them the model is more important

@@allotatalk The Comtomatic sewing machine which I got and had it service but the sewing machine could not be repaired. A friend sold me his Portman sewing machine which was made in Rochester, New York for $240 in 1940 and it was never used. It comes in a suit case with all its attatchments, three booklets on how to use the Portman, booklet for using the attachments and sewing machine operating booklet. It weights about 10 pounds more than the Singer Featherweight, but the Portman has a free arm. The Singer Feather weight free arm was only in England and Ireland when it was sold. I have sewn on the Portman and it is a very tight stitch.

Hi, I just bought one exactly like this one for $65 so excited but my question is can I use Singer needles and class 15 bobbins ?

Yes, she uses class 15 in the video, those are the right ones

My machine is very similar to yours. My motor sparks even after cleaning the amateur and replacing the brushes. I’m assuming that this isn’t normal. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please and thank you

I have The Ambassador 100 Model # 59-4937 It was purchased on December 12, 1959 by My Mother. She gave it to Me and I am still using it. I was born in 1957. It is still in Mint Condition , sews wonderfully. My problem with "My Only One Problem" is that the foot petal cord is damaged, and I keep it taped or used both of My feet around it so it will sew. I need a New Foot controller and wondering it Anybody knows where I can or how I could go about getting a New One for it . Thank You foe any suggestions. Donna
