Oh yes !! I too had to do a little reshaping haha 😂 Those pictures on the RM website really does not do this hat justice . Yeah it’s a tall crown but those pictures really make them look extra tall . Like a pilgrim hat or something. So yeah - mine looks pretty normal now . I think I wear that one the most ….. That RM and the AKUBRA Adventurer . ( my CD’s are getting jealous) haha But I still wear when I can . I just got one in Bluegrass green . Love it !!!!

The Akubra campdraft known as the Bushman in America are modelled on the hats that akubra made for Stetson back in the day, based on the Open Road. When Stetson no longer required Akubra to make them, Akubra simply re branded the hat as the Campdraft/Bushman and sold them as an Open Crown.. meaning that unlike the "RM" hat, you can shape it anyway you want. Apart from being a higher crown and wider brim than the "RM", the quality of felt is better... Not hanging shit on the "RM", but there is something special about a hat thatyou can shape yourself.. I've done mine in different styles but my favourite is the "cattlemans crease", making it a cheaper alternative to a Stetson Open Road though better quality.... A simple perusal of different hat forums, particularly the Fedora Lounge, will show a strong leaning towards the Campdraft/Bushman's....(though, I am only expressing my own opinion)

I’ll be doing another AKUBRA video soon . I just recently acquired another Camp draft in Bluegrass green . And the AKUBRA Adventurer ( Think Indiana Jones - the best version out there ). Love it !! Both are quite awesome actually. Now I have one for each day of the week haha . ( including my open road and this Italian made fedora ). I wish that men would start dressing like they did in the 20’s Thru 40’s . It would be odd to see a guy without some sort of hat back then . Now I’m the guy that sticks out like a sore thumb . The great benefits of owning a Campdraft is that you can shape it into an Open Road by steaming a cattlemans crease into it.... my go to hat for hitting the town....

Haha Yeah I broke out my Fall weather clothes again . I’m happier in the colder months ( dress wise ). The cold though ??? Not a fan !!!! October November are my favorites!! Then April and May . Perfect weather around here . Days it’s like 55 to 70 …. Nights like 45 to 55 . December Thru March -- too FN cold for my old ass !! Haha 😂

I think I lived in the 30’s and 40’s . I always admired the Mens fashion during those decades . Fedora or newsboy caps . Plus vests and dress shirt . Definitely a neat style . Think movies like “ of Mice and Men “ or “ King Kong 1935 or even the Jack Black One . I think I was there haha …. Ya never know . Either that or I watch too many movies haha 😂

@@tubes5150, I agree. I've had many vests over the years, different colors and flavors as well as fedoras and scally caps. Not feeling myself as much these days, but as soon as I start feeling good, I'll start dressing up again, haha.

Thanks so much for watching!! You sound like a man with excellent taste . My RM Williams did come already bashed and the brim was styled in a way where I had to change both . I don’t know if they changed the picture on the RM website but the RM hat looked really huge on that models head ! That was a huge gamble when I purchased . I thought I might have to return . But the hat arrived much better in person ( again - had to reshape ). I’ll bet that photo of the model deters folks from purchasing. I might have to make a video just focusing on the RM Williams Fedora. I made it more of a Campdraft / Indiana Jones style . But THEN I ordered the AKUBRA Adventurer fedora !! Holy Smokes !! Now THAT is the best Indiana Jones lid I ever purchased !! When I go side by side with the Adventuer and the RM , I can definitely tell the difference. Especially with that wider hat band on the Adventurer . ( I actually wore that in one of my recent videos and now I can’t remember which one ). I’ll try to send the link .

Yes the RM does have a snap brim . I think the online add does the hat Zero Justice !! Don’t it look huge on the guys head ?? Now I had to reshape mine using steam . I didn’t want the “ Indiana Jones type hat “ . That’s how it looked when it first arrived . I flattened the brim out and reshaped the crown too , ( I made it an open crown - steamed - then went ahead and finger creased ). My only gripe was they didn’t have my size when I ordered. I normally wear 7 3/8 “ and ordered a 7 1/4” . I had to stretch it out a bit using a hat stretcher and steam . Holding pretty good . But I still need to just stretch almost every time I wear it out . @tubes5150 yes that's what made me a bit unsure as the crown looks huge lol, really tall on him. so it comes preshaped then and you just reshaped it yourself? I'd lover the crown myself esp at the back and give it a nice teardrop so it didn't look like the site photo.

@@lordteabelly Yeah when I first bought it I was really unsure … I showed my wife the pic on the website and she says “ Looks like something Santa Claus would wear on his days off “!! Haha So I took a chance . Reshaped everything!!! Wasn’t that hard either . If you need tips on how to do that watch my friend Kevin over at JJ Hat Center here on KZfaq . He is like the fedora master !! He can reshape anything! He can take a dented / crushed Stetson fedora from the 1940’s - and make it look brand spanking new ! He is amazing !!

@tubes5150 yes, if it comes preshsped then I would definitely reshap it myself to make it look less indy. make the crown smaller and not as tall and flatten the brim so it doesn't gave that adventurer curve to it. I watch Kevin's videos too! I'm visiting NYC for the first time in sept from the uk, so I'm planning on going to jj hat centre to check the place out, hopefully grab a hat. I'd love a stetson premier stratoliner the open crown one but don't think they are available anymore atm

@@lordteabelly Oh that is so awesome !!! What a cool store !! You will love it !! I gave Kevin an AKUBRA Blue Grass Campdraft a couple months ago . I only wore once so it’s basically brand new . It was just a tad too big . So when I found my size , instead of returning or selling the Blue Grass , I just gifted to Kevin . He’s such a cool dude !! Wish I could go with ya !!

That is actually the RM Williams brown AKUBRA . What you see in the video is not what you would receive though . I had to reshape to my liking . It’s an awesome hat !!! It arrived with the brim down in front and back …. I flattened it out to be more 40’’s fedora style .
