So I’ve been in the aerospace industry for about a decade and I worked somewhere where they replaced all the steel blades with ceramic (plastic). And the first blade they gave me, I still use. It’s still sharp. It’s like in a little retractable contraption. It’s magnetic too and it’s still on my fridge. So plastic is possible. Miles just cheaped out.

In regards to the tax question, it depends on how sheckler's accountants has his businesses structured. What the comment stated could make sense, assuming the expense threholds are met. If sheckler had a a parent company to control each of his separate enterprises (skatepark/board/apparel/etc.) the park could at least be utilized as a percentage marketing expense write off for another one of his companies. But in regards to just the skatepark, there are other methods of maximizing the tax code since you're now entering the world of construction and real estate. as for the sponsorhip's (depending on if they are receiving a 1099 vs w2), and applying the appropriate deductions, while taking into consideration the possible k9 deductions from his business(es). and as for charging the storage/warehouse fee to his skatepark from his separate board enterprise, that is doable but it can just turn into a "shell game". Reminded me of what companies will do by setting up an offshore entity to store their IP for licensing payments(for example) to lower their tax rate, which could be applicable for Sheckler and his trademarked IP/branding.

I am an accountant and can tell you with certainty that if said board company is an LLC, Partnership, or S-Corp., or a sole proprietorship Schedule C, then the business profits/losses would be flowed through to said skateboarder based on their percentage of ownership. Plastic razor blades do work good if you file down the perimeter of the board first. You don’t even need any blade really if you just file around a few times griptape will start cutting away
