Steve is a great drummer. I've seen him live countless times with W.A.S.P. and L.A. Guns. An incredibly solid, dynamic, very professional drummer. One of the best.

Wow, great interview, Steves so classy ,even when the door's opened to really trash and throw people under the bus he doesn't bite, his only negative comments seem to be said only to set the record straight, after this interview I'm going to go back and check out some of Steve's stuff I completly missed out on, And I'm hooked on Jason's interviews, he has a gift to keep things moving along and keep it interesting from beginning to end. Re-watching the Steve Riley interviews since his passing, it is a testament to how classy and diplomatic he, Kelly, Scott, and Kurt carried themselves in the face of all the nasty garbage slung their way by that other band. Thank you Jason Green for making these Steve Riley interviews, not many other podcaster/interviewers have done so, when they had plenty to promote, and could have used the help/exposure in the promotion department

I'm a huge early WASP fan and was lucky enough to see Steve Riley with LA Guns and Johnny Rod with King Kobra in 2016 at the Sweden Rock Fest... priceless moments.

At first I wrote off Steve's version of LA Guns and supported the other version very heavily but after watching this interview I've went and checked out Steve's LA Guns and my god it's badass!!! I can't get enough! I've even purchased the Renegades album and can't wait for more material!!! You rock Riley!

Great Interview... The only thing ..... WHY, Is it in most interviews .. Blackie is often portrayed as the bad guy? Most (Nor all) former members had either substance abuse issues, Or they were trying for go out on their own. BTW.... Blackie has been with the current lineup more then twenty years.... (So much for saying he changes the lineup alot) And Blackie Lawless has grown so much as writer/artist. I look forward to seeing the anniversary tour. Johnny Rod and Mike Duda hands down ....Best harmonizing vocals. Stet Howland best drummer.

Steve you guys should do your own show. Get those guys, get a cool singer that can do those songs. You’ll kill it and everyone will have a great time. WASP doesn’t perform in the U.S.. There’s the void! You just gotta fill it

Regarding the Dr. Feelgood tour, Steve meant the Cocked & Loaded tour and not Hollywood Vampires.

One fan's opinion: First of all... GREAT interview. I watched this while on the treadmill and the 90 minutes flew by. Steve is very interesting and has had a great career (still ongoing after some 40 years) and some huge missed opportunities (not of his own doing), such as missing out on Motley Crue's world tour. Now about L. A. Guns. I think we can all agree that there cannot be two L. A. Guns touring and recording at the same time. Between Steve and Kelly and Phil and Tracii, it is this fan's opinion that Phil and Tracii represent L. A. Guns to a greater degree than Steve and Kelly. Are there other factors to consider? Yes. But none of that will change the fact that Phil and Tracii are the face of L. A. Guns. I have Renegades and it is a pretty good album. I look forward to what else they will come up with. However, calling themselves L. A. Guns was a mistake... yes, it is just my opinion. As I have posted elsewhere, maybe even on this channel, Renegade Guns would have been a better choice. They could have still played all the L. A. Guns hits that they wanted to from the old days along with their new music. Of course, I don't expect them to read this, think "Great name" and change their name yet again. I think Steve is a great drummer, has always been involved in pretty good bands, and I wish him continued success. But I also think I'm right, that he should have avoided using the name L. A. Guns. Hey, just my opinion.

I met Steve after watching one of their B'zz shows. My friend was dating Tom's sister and we all crashed at the pad in Lake Geneva after the show. I watched Saturday morning cartoons and wrestling with Steve. He had a big blue Ludwig kit for sale but I was broke. What a kick a$$ drummer and a solid dude. Rest in peace Steve.

I would pay anything asked to see Blackie, Chris, Steve and Randy on stage again!! Come on guys...

His memory is wrong. Cooked and Loaded was 89, same year as Dr Feelgood. Hollywood Vamps was 91 and Motley was focused on touring Europe for the Decade of Decadence. Having said that, being on the Feelgood tour would not have resulted in a double platinum album. My memory is wrong too, I saw Poison / Ratt, GW and LAG in St Louis. Summer 2000? 1999? I didn't know that I was seeing Jizzy singing. I just assumed that was Phil up there. You guys are telling me it was Jizzy? I saw three of those Poison resurgence tours. The others I saw had Cinderella, Winger and Faster PC and one with Warrant, Quiet Riot and Enuff Z Nuff.

The track renegades is fucking killer. That track should be skyrocketing..good job over there fellas

WASP was one of my favorites as a kid.I was transitioning from KISS to Motley Crue and WASP,Just blood and chains!What was so great was that I think my parents thought I would grow out of it with KISS,then the whole Hollywood Hard-Rock thing took over my life.I'm still here! tone raven F**K Like A Beast was killer,the 1st album,and we wore out The Last Command on Vinyl !

I always loved Wasp. I saw them at the baltimore civic center opening for Black Sabbath and also at Hammerjacks on the crimson idol tour that was the loudest club show I had been too my friend woke up the next day with blood in his ear.

I love hearing Steve talk the business end.

I'm amazed how steve refers to randy as the band's mastermind and blackie fired him like he was a section musician, and steve is right if you switch instruments and members change the dynamics of the band.

This was great! Awesome detail, went into American Hardcore album, which I got into them at that time. That was the newest album... I remember The Loving Dead "Do it again" was a Rockin' tune! 🤘

Awesome interview! Now you would think since Blackie is promoting the 40th Anniversary tour he would come out of his shell and do some interviews. Work at him as best you can Jason, you just might get lucky! Also I’ve heard Blackie say that he let Steve go because he wanted to go into a more progressive direction. He basically just said Steve wasn’t that kind of drummer that he envisioned for which turned out to be The Headless Children. You can certainly tell the difference just in the drum tracks between Circus and Headless.

I saw them on the "American Hardcore" tour in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada at a club called Riley's. I met Tracii and got his autograph. Unfortunately there was about maybe 10 people there for the show.

I never knew he was in WASP. I was a LA Guns fan. I actually prefer their first album over Guns n Roses appetite album. And I agree, that they would have been bigger if they didn’t lose the Motley tour.

I was looking thru drumsets And I was inbetween Tama and pearl and that last command album Steves sound made me go after the Tamas .

I got a drum stick when they played Calamity Jane in Las Vegas 89ish

That is one HELL of a guy!!!!! I thought he left WASP to join L a guns. I am so glad to hear that I was wrong and so sad to hear what actually happened. Wasp with him in it was fantastic!! I think Johnny is a badass on bass but randy piper should have made the next album with them. They could have been larger than life but things happen the way they do. I'm glad he never stopped.
