The People's Court

The plaintiff agreed to buy the defendant’s house and furniture. He says he initially gave the defendant $2,000 for the furniture, but the defendant backed out of the agreement and won’t give the plaintiff the furniture, so he’s suing. The defendant claims the plaintiff kept playing games with her and that’s why the deal didn’t go through, so the defendant is keeping the cash.

@@marleonetti7 I’m not so sure it’s “property owners” specifically but just trash people in general. I think it’s more narcissistic than anything else, they’ve convinced themselves they’re right because it benefits them even when they can see how the outcome is unfair for the other. Then they do what she did: try and give them something else that’s not as valuable to her to try and make the deal “fair” while coming out with the upper hand.

You can get a new build for less if you can afford the land. Where I live, a lot with NO house would go for over 1/2 million in minutes, with multiple offers. In fact that asking price is so low that buyers would be wondering what the catch is. It really depends on where her house is located.

It has always been my thought that paperwork for the case was submitted to People’s Court before a case was accepted so the judge could look it all over to know what the case involved before airing. If there was another contract of August 5, either the woman hadn’t submitted to PC or she was lying…again. Glad the Plaintiff got his money. 💰

That's true, but I still would have been interested to hear about the second contract, just to know what it said. If there was one that would have changed the outcome of the case and defendant didn't submit it beforehand, then that's her own fault and she deserved to lose.

I've bought and sold a lot of houses. There is almost always something that comes up during inspection and there should always be a bit of give and take by both parties to fix it. An "as is" sale usually means if anything is found after the sale goes through the buyer is stuck with it. There is almost always a bit of wiggle room for getting something fixed that shows up in the before sale inspection. The Defendant seems too obstinate to sell a house smoothly. Unless she sells it dirt cheap, no one will buy it in poor condition, "as is".
