So sorry. I give these movies all a chance. The cinematography was awesome and the set was beautiful.. I loved how everything was antique except the monitor.. But I just felt like it was so extremely predictable. Without the score it wouldn't have had much surprise. But like any artist, we all learn through our mistakes! Good luck to the makers of this film. Weird. I never say this kind of thing. I feel kinda bad. Not hating just being honest. I guess that's what the comment section is for right? ❤

This is a perfect example of how good execution, talented acting and skilled filmography can take a fairly run of the mill horror story to the next level and create something that stands out. Was this story original? Absolutely not. There was a storm, the lights went out, creaks and bumps and something in the dark. All things we've seen before. But this was crafted wonderfully, and I found myself getting genuine chills.

I Like Turtles also: ALWAYS have sex you are sure to die...separate from your friends, especially if you just did have sex and are female ... make sure you run through a forest trying to get away, you will trip and fall - especially if you keep looking back...don’t worry though your attacker or creature will only be walking briskly as you are in a full out run...always run upstairs rather than put the front door... surely there is no way out on the second floor

Always make sure you trip over when running.. even when there's nothing to trip over. Never turn on any lights and walk through the house while it's completely dark. If you hear a noise, call out 'hello' then investigate said noise. If you see something/someone attacking somebody, instead of running away while the killer's busy with the victim, just stand there and scream. If someone's turning into a Werewolf, see above (don't run while they're turning... just stand there and scream).

Spoilers! Cinematography was great. Acting was well great. Audio (a big thing for me) was great. But... the story. This had all the elements of a great horror short, but it felt like it had nowhere to go. 1. She comes home and doesn't lock the front door. "Well, that's just asking to be murdered.", I thought. 2. It seemed like the device that she heard the weird noises from was like a baby monitor, but there didn't appear to be a baby. Why was that device there? It seemed like it only existed to provide an ominous sound which she immediately ignores. 3. The power goes out, and she hears a noise from upstairs. Her first reaction is to go up to check it out - without anything to defend herself? "She really does want to be murdered.", I concluded. 4. She drops an oil lamp on the floor, but doesn't seem at all concerned about whether or not it will start a fire, or if she can get it relit (in fact, she never even looks at the lamp after she falls). She just opens the door. 5. Seeing the monster (ignoring the questions of how or why a tree monster got in her upstairs room - the windows aren't broken), she doesn't shut the door, she just runs downstairs to the front door (which she didn't lock in the beginning, but now it's locked). 6. Her keys are not where she left them, because apparently the monster is baiting her to get them. Why? This creature can move around much faster than she can (since it was able to beat her down the stairs to grab her keys without her noticing it), so why not just kill her if that's the goal? So, it might have made more sense if it had been set up that as she was coming home she saw a creepy looking tree and something about it frightened her, or if she had just hit a tree with her car and it wanted revenge, or if she was a climate change denier - anything! But there was no apparent reason for any of it. Instead, the only answer that makes sense is that she's lost her mind. A person who comes home during a raging thunderstorm and thinks "I should start vacuuming!" is already half-way to crazy town, so when the power goes out, she snaps. She sees a coatrack, and it becomes a fanciful monster. I don't like this idea, because there's not a lot to support it, and I don't think that was the intention of the filmmakers. Instead, it seems like some very talented people got together to make a horror short, and figured that if they just had an unexplained monster with no discernible goals in a well done atmosphere, that would be enough. And maybe for some people it is. But it would be nice to see what this group could do with a solid story. I bet it would be amazing... :)

I watched this twice so I’ll invest in a hopefully useful comment. Silent horror movie - the oh no, don’t go there!!!!! kind - with some strange choices (vacuum, baby monitor, keys) but it kept my interest. Only, They must have run out of money at the end as the monster looks puny and ridiculous, like it cost $5 tops to put together. The actress is a bit wooden and lifeless at times but overall maintains the illusion throughout. Finally, there’s a reason why the comments, hail the score as the true winner of the piece: it’s just awesome! I realized that it was what kept me watching (listening). Man, you have to give it up to the Scandis for superior melodies. I’m with everyone on the end credits, really chilling and unique! Thinking about it, it’s like a cheap bicycle with a Corvette engine.

The production was very well done, but it just felt like wasted potential, given that the monster seemed to have no purpose. The short had great atmosphere, but none of the woman's actions made any sense. Even if you accept that fear/panic might lead to bad choices, she never even thinks to find another exit (which would be the most likely fear response). No purpose and unbelievable actions leave what could have been an amazing short in the "Meh" category. I'd like to see what they could do with a good story... :)

@@cindyfernandez1956 With all do respect, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or sincere as text will often coming off awkwardly just as I noticed my comment may have seemed somewhat feigned. I apologize for that as I typed in a hurry. I had truly meant to convey that in a lot of film and maybe even more so with the short film to use your imagination to fill in the gaps as to not have the story run too long. I hope I was able to explain myself better? Enjoy your viewing. 😀

D Mac Probably a little of both. You’re so right though about texts being taken out of context. I apologize too. I love these short flicks but this just didn’t connect with my imagination like most do. I appreciate your reply. ✌️😁

I'm not sure why people are questioning the award; you can just google it and there is proof (I did). The score is truly exceptional! Just try to watch it without it and you will see! The score has so much freight and dimension to it, and Tina Guo - she works with Hans Zimmer! - would have not agreed to appear on anything lackluster or embarrassing! What I agree could be improved is: images are grainy, and the acting is flawed (for example, when she smiles at the end), and there are problems with the premise of the plot, and plot details, and also with the monster itself. Of course this is a low budget and a passion project - but why is it a low budget? I am sure there are Danish grants available and then, there you go, you can get a better writer and effects. Don't touch the music ;)

its was realy good overall. I liked it. just the end destroyed it, as you show the "monster" in full frontal while its moving and the viewer could clearly see its some kind of robot with robotic movement. that few seconds destroyed the whole thing. it was better when you just showed the monster during lightning, also the shadow of the monster scene was realy good where the victim runs away speechless (that was also good acting btw). oh well, sometimes showing less is better than too much.

Absolutely fantastic Gothic score! It builds all the heart pumping freight and dynamic in the movie, that would otherwise be underwhelming. The fixes (better premise/reason why the monster is after her, who she is - a maid? a nanny? where is the baby? how the monster looks, better picture quality) were easy to execute and it's a bit sad that the team didn't fully deliver. That excluding the music of course, which is insanely good!

1. I hope the director follows all constructive criticism below and goes back to studying script writing and secure more appropriate funding for next projects (picture quality, monster props, editor etc) 2. I hope the composer’s agents find much, much higher quality projects that deserve his craft and ‘guest-star’ appearances.
