nice job getting the shots! the Kahles has great glass with a bright, sharp image and larger FOV. it also has a very capable reticle and awesome turrets. but the Steiner seems to offer a richer, more contrasting image imo.the reticle is basic but useful and the turrets are completely serviceable. i think the Steiner is a bit behind the times compared to the more modern and advanced Kahles. but quality is quality. and while each offer distinctly different features and abilities and applications, they are both decidedly top shelf and can handle whatever tasks you might ask of them very well. id love to have the Kahles but especially considering the great deals available, id never turn my nose up at the Steiner !

Craig Cardelucci very true that's why I brought mine although for some reason they were once a 3000$ aud scope and are still being advertised for that here in Aus today, very confusing and would be disappointed if I had purchased one for such a high price

Steiner is great for us in the states because they are owned by Burris (although all their stuff is still German with German made glass). What that means is we can send all warranty stuff to Colorado for service instead of sending to Europe. Very convenient. I have had my 3-12x56 Military for 2 years and the customer service in Colorado is excellent. I remeber paying $1600 for my scope and it was a "demo" unit for shows, and the full retail was around $2400. For $1200, these scopes are the deal of the century.

mai tai German Military uses mostly S&B for Scopes and has been using Hensoldt or Kaps and is still using them on some G3 ZF's. Binoculars, yes they use Steiner. But actually no Steiner scopes are issued.

The Steiner Military are not made by Burris they are still hand made in Germany unlike the rest of the Steiner line that was bought by Burris very recently, the Military line by Steiner are a whole other ball game and compete easily with any Nightforce or S&B for clarity reliability and most importantly have bulletproof turret tracking, and they most definitely CRUSH any Leupold, Burris, or Bushnell or Vortex.

I'm not a pro by any means but from observation on these 2 scopes the Kahles definitely has a better field of view and maybe a bit more bright than the Stiener but tbh i though the view was more clear and vivid through the Stiener, just wish it has that bigger field of view but thats just my opinion lol. i really like the way this video was made that actually compared the views through the scopes, Great job bro :)

Much wider field of view on the Kahles. Optical quality seemed better too... Given the different specs it is hard to compare, but nevertheless it gives you an idea of wich one is probably the better scope...the Kahles.

@801kangaroo
@801kangaroo 7 жыл бұрын
Jher2006 havnt had the opportunity to look through one sorry, would love to have the access to a range of top end scopes but basically this is just a comparison of two of the scopes I own, judging by the market these days and reports of the amount of professional shooters using kahles over Steiner and many other brands I still think this video accurately shows kahles for how good they are and there excellent build quality, I have looked through a few kahles hunting scopes at the local gun store and they are amazing absolutely the best scopes I have handled, even better then my Swarovski hunting scope at a comparable price
@diogenesofsinope6809
@diogenesofsinope6809 2 жыл бұрын
The SHV F1 uses the exact same lenses and coatings as the old NXS 3.5-15 F1. Very good for the money and more than serviceable, but it may lack in contrast and light transmission compared to newer optics, certainly anything from Kahles. Of course apparent FoV is also less. That said, Kahles scopes in general seem to exhibit more chromatic abberation than scopes in the same price range, so if you have Kahles money, it's worthwhile to look at competitors.

are you able to look through one at your local shop before purchasing ? ..look the Steiner is a fantastic scope at the price range for 1200$ i really don't think you'll find a better (tactical) first focal plane scope, there just isn't any other big manufactures making euro glass scopes with 34mm tubes and tac turrets, for that price and is a great sale! however ...just two weeks after i purchased my Steiner euro optic put the kahles 3-12x50 on sale 1600$ from 2400$! if i had of known that was going to happen id have waited to purchase the kahles myself.. do not underestimate filed of view in rifle scopes ..a larger filed of view can make for a seemingly much brighter picture, can be easier to stay on target to watch rounds impact and also seem easier to get the eye behind.. my kahles is a better scope in every way but i also paid 3k ...if i was you i would consider the kahles 3-12x50 from euro optic being the little brother of the k624i i think it would be worth the extra 500$ if it takes anything at all from it such as turret feel and it field of view hope this helps and doesn't confuse either way 1200$ for the steiner or 1600$ for the kahles thats still a lot of scope for the price and both are priced over 2000$ normally precisionrifle.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/rifle-scope-field-of-view.png www.eurooptic.com/kahles-k-3-12x50-msr-ccw-tactical-1-mil-turrets-10545.aspx

Shanezkool I'm building an AR in 6.5 Grendel, I originally wanted a 4-16x optic, but after seeing videos on these scopes I'm thinking a 3-12x should be sufficient. Where are you finding the Steiner 3-12x56 for $1200, best I could find is $1,300 on Euro Optic and various sites. For only $300 difference the Kahles sure is tempting, but if I'm not mistaken the Steiner comes with scope covers and a sunshade included. That's probably another $100 worth of merchandise. Too damn many options for optics....

I love Steiner! No questions asked lifetime warranty generation to generation passed down forever. Looking at a Steiner M5XI 1-5x24mm from EuroOptic $1,800 is a steal from originally $2,599. Or the T5XI 1-5X24mm is $1,499 with $250 gift card free. Steiner has super impressive GLASS CLARITY!! And the warranty, is the best in the business

Some really serious optics but your delivery is very poor and I can't understand your comparison? Spam and ham are very nutritious but can one really compare them in the same meal? Yes, the Khales looks a lot better quality but that should not detract from what a damn fine scope is the Steiner. The Khales comes in at over twice the price of the Steiner by the way, ham and spam again? Another poster has also made the comment, keep the camera still as wobbling about took the edge off what may have had some use as a video. The film could also be enhanced by some audio talk over. Best wishes.

You can not compare two completely different optics, you must be compared with the same optical magnification with the same diameter and objectives. Try to compare the Steiner Nighthunter Xtreme 3-15x56 with a Kahles of equal magnification and then see who's the best. I tell you that you will be surprised how much the steiner is higher.
@801kangaroo
@801kangaroo 8 жыл бұрын
These scopes are comparable by price at the time both around the $3000 dollar mark in Aus and objective size both 56mm ..scopes are compared at the same magnification in video and build quality of the scope is comparable no matter the magnification ..kahles is much better build and value for money unless you grab the Steiner on sale as I did ..I would not pay full retail for that Steiner scope, that is how I have compared these two
@dennispokhodenko2678
@dennispokhodenko2678 8 жыл бұрын
Steiner should be 6-24x56 as Kahles model. Then the comparison is 100% honest. In your test steiner is on top limit of magnification but kahles only in middle. It is not honestly.
@aldinik0
@aldinik0 8 жыл бұрын
I am sorry they are two completely different riflescope. I live in Europe and I have parents living in Germany near the factory of the optics. Yuo are comparing different riflescope of the levels and features. The Steiner ranger 3-12x56 costs 900 Euro www.brignoliarmi.com/11568/saldi-caccia-steiner--ottiche-steiner-serie-ranger-offerte.html; while the Kahles k624i costs 2500 Euro www.ermesport.it/cannocchiali-kahles.html. And then again you can not compare optics with different focal excursions, if you want a serious and truthful comparison you have to compare two identical optical 3-12x56 or two identical 6-24x56 in the same price range. See you

All these bullshit comments. The Kahles had better FOV &, was exceptionally clear but, the Steiner had far better colour rendition & fidelity which, in low light, makes all the difference. In Australian hunting conditions, the Steiner is much better when dealing with long range spotlighting. Daylight shooting is of absolutely no concern. If all you do is daylight shooting, go & get a pathetic Tasco. For spotlighting, a scope must have excellent colour fidelity. White & bright is of little use unless the scope is of the most superb balance as a the Zeiss or Swarovski. Other than than that &, as far as tactical scopes go, Hensolt or Schmidt bender rule the roost.
$200 Scope vs. $3,000 Scope
