I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzfaq.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

Stihl 'fan boy' for life here lol. I've used all sorts of Stihls in 15 years as an arborist, and they're just always great to work with and work on (easy maintenance). My dad has a tiddly MS180 that gets used once a year for firewood, and every season it fires up with ease. Husqvarnas, in my opinion, are fantastic when they're running well, but they just don't have that 'bombproof' build quality and reliability of Stihl. If you haven't already, check out the little MS150 top handle. When it's a bit much for a handsaw, but a 200/201 is a bit overkill, they're great little saws and they weigh next to nothing on your harness. There's a good reason why you'll find Stihl saws in arb trucks around the world, I've always found them the best. Their weedeaters/blowers/hedgetrimmers are all great too... I even like their pushmowers lol (used to be branded as Viking). Nice video 😁- Stihl for me... but I think I made that obvious 🤣

I have the echo 360t which is basically the same as far as I know, not too impressed straight out of the box. I took the cat out of the muffler box and tuned the carb, it is now a beast of a saw. I find that the echo bar isn't great so I put on a stihl 12" bar and chain, works great really happy with it now. I've used a 200t and a 201t I think the echo is better after a couple of modifications.

Yep i agree on the Echo getting very hot as my 360TES did the same so i cut open the muffler and removed the 'CAT' so it flows gas quicker and means the removed restriction allows it to run cooler. The Stihl is generally a nicer saw and faster in my opinion. The 360TES / 362TES seem to take a long time to run in and loosen up in my experience.

At 3:38 it really looked like that chain on the Echo was chattering hard in the cut. It looks like either the depth gauge is too aggressive for that wood, the cutters are not filed evenly, or one of the cutters got dull/damaged during testing. To be fair it would make sense to swap the chain between the saws if the pitch, drive link gauge, and count is identical. Chain cutter profile, sharpness, etc plays a huge factor in the cutting performance more than the actual power head. Regardless I love these comparisons but to be fair that’s the best way to do a side by side test. Using proper sharpening techniques you can easily gain 15% to 40% faster cut times over brand new chains but a dull, unbalanced, or improperly sharpened chain can slow you down even worse. I love the channel and the content you make, please keep it up.

Use the Stihl's every day, specifically the 201 and 150 for climbing. Horrible saws, the 201 has been shelved for our old 200T and the 150 can't handle anything bigger than branches. As soon as you try to cut a decent limb it just gets bogged down, Stihl really dropped the ball with the new models.
@bobarmstrong21223 жыл бұрын
@@Celric_Death I don't have a 201T, but I have an older 192t that I keep in great shape. I like the 192T EXCEPT IT gets carb issues after awhile and I always use non-ethanol gas. I looked at reviews of 201T 's and from what I read people hate the new carbs on them. Too many bad reviews. I am strong considering the Echo 355t/Shindaiwa 358T. My Echo/Shindaiwa saws In I own are much more reliable and so much easier to start Hot or Cold. Maybe guys in the business have full time mechanics or just consider repairs as a necessity so they are willing to spend twice the money for a saw that has better power but breaks down more. I think Stihl is losing their once earned reputation.

Справедливей было-бы, если бы цепи одинаковые стояли. Потому что на ECHO изначально из коробки цепь oregon не совсем острая. На видео видно как пила прыгает при распиле. It would be fairer if the chains were the same. Because on the ECHO, out of the box, the oregon chain is not entirely sharp. The video shows how the saw jumps when cutting.

The problem with the new Echo / Shindaiwa saws is they all now have Sealed Catalyst exhaust this makes them run very hot. I recently bought a echo CS-280TES first thing I did was ordered a new exhaust for the older version 260T and what a different’s Runs cool revs higher and starts easy the only tweak is richen up the H a little.

HI I have two echo top handle saws, the CS-2511 (Awesome little saw that punches above its weight) and the CS-360 which is the forrunner to the CS-362 you are demoing but in all intense purposes is the same saw. I have not had an issue with heat or burning my trousers or harness. A colleague who is also a climber and also uses the 360 has never seemed to have a problem ether... Are you using the metal loop on the back of the saw to attach it to a tool holder on your harness? If so this might be your problem... Use a tool/saw lanyard and try clipping it to your harness on the short ring connector instead... I have been so impressed with the Echo Top handle saws that I would not go for a stihl.... I noticed tat when you were doing the cuts with the echo saw it looked a bit jumpy! I had this problem with the chain that came on my saw and replaced it and it has cut much better and quicker.. Just a though a you might find this a big improvement... The echo is also much better once it has been run in so you will also find that this will be a big improvement as well... I think the stihl saw benefited from being run in on the cut comparison.... It will be interesting ti see how you get on with t once it is fully bedded in.

@@Femalelumberjack hope you are doing well. To answer your question about the echo getting hot. It's a catalytic converter in the exhaust to pass the emissions test. It has to get extremely hot to make the exhaust gases burn more clean. I build saws and have cut the muffler in half on a number of them now. And once opened up I remove it then weld it back together. Wakes the saw up and helps it run much cooler and nicer to use when climbing.

We had problems with the Echo. When running, the saw would cut out. We found the kill switch was vibrating enough it would ground out the plug and kill the saw. We ended up adding a toggle kill switch you see on the rear handle Echos and that fixed the issue. The fuel and oil caps are way too small. I didn't care for the choke lever being up by your thumb, it made for some long linkages inside the handle which I feel would be needless wear points in higher hour saws. I think they fixed a lot of the issues when they came out with the cs2511t.

I did not find information about the Echo's engine, but on the 362WES model (it seems to be the same, but with two handles) there is a piston with one ring. The 201T has two piston rings. Great video and very informative, but I have a question that you didn't cover: did you feel that the Echo vibrated much more than the Stihl, or was it a similar level of vibration? I was about to buy a new Stihl (I've always bought Stihl up til now...) but thought that I'd take a look at a Husqvarna just out of interest, and then the salesman asked if I'd considered the Echo because he rated it higher than the Stihl or Husqvarna, but it was a lot less money for a Professional Grade saw... This just complicated the choice further to be honest, so I left it to do some research on the Echo, but the reviews that I've watched so far have all said that the Echo vibrates noticably more than the Stihl, even though the salesman told me that it vibrates significantly less... So now I'm really confused and wondering if the guy lied and was trying to sell me the Echo because he's got a crate full of them that nobody wants? Any help or advice would be very much appreciated, but I did notice that the Echo didn't seem to be very sharp and was chattering-around as you cut, so I wondered if you'd used it again since sharpening it, or was it a saw supplied by a dealer for you to film the video and then returned to the dealer? You've got a new Subscriber, so please keep-on making these videos because you obviously know what you're doing and I'd much rather watch you talking about saws than some big ugly old guy with a beard... 😉😍😘

Senses that the Echo saw vibrates, whereas the Stihl saw, saws evenly, without vibrations. In my opinion, specifications are not crucial to how satisfied one will be with the saw in the long run. Stihl's high performance is partly a result of complicated technology, which means that you can not adjust the carburettor yourself, it is also difficult to troubleshoot. On the other hand, Echo has not yet joined the wave, with a computer-controlled carburetor, so it is still possible to adjust H and L, as well as idle. There is also a clear difference in the physical dimensions of the 2 models, which speaks in favor of the Echo saw, it is slimmer, and will not be so prone, to get stuck in branch gaps. Both saws are arborist saws, and they are not developed for firewood production, such as. sawbuck work. Japanese craftsmanship, in my opinion, does not lag behind German e engineering skills, a good example is Silky saws, and Sugihara bars. Personally, I think that Stihl and Husqvarna, with their computer-controlled carburetors, have deliberately seen an opportunity in that only authorized workshops, have the equipment and training that can troubleshoot the respective models, seemed to have learned that even the local workshops, lack the ability to solve the errors that may occur, a bit like the saws are sent to the market before they are properly developed, they have just realized that many choose saws, based solely on 2 parameters, weight in relation to performance, and maybe also emissions? .......... but how much of the world's pollution comes from chainsaws, it's vanishingly little.

Nice reply. I actually came across this in a rabbit hole of electronic carbs, trying to figure out if these electronic carb saws are still 2 strokes. While I think its pretty cool that humanity has developed an electronic carb for 2 strokes to improve their efficiency. You are absolutely right, the pollution saved from this, is insanely minimal compared to the bigger picture of even ICEs.

I think what none of these videos show is the Echos take forever to break in and get to their full power. Off the shelf like this Echo they are dogs. Once broken in which takes many many many tanks of gas and tuned right they have no trouble running with the Stihl. Problem is no one wants to run them till they break in as time is money and the caps on them are just stupid Echo. Here is what I mean kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nJuhlduUvNTSh4E.html Sorry forgot to say thanks for your time making these videos as many like me enjoy them😊

I've handled both and find the echo to be easier to use in the tree while the sthil is of sturdier build. Both are fantastic saws. Pay the extra money and get the 201T over the sthil 194. If you get the echo, you'll love climbing with it. Just be more gentle with it.

G'day, FLJ I have subscribed to other tree workers on you tube and they both use top handle Stihl saws when at the top of a tree . It doesn't seem to matter what is used on the ground I suppose if something goes wrong you can easily walk away , but when you can't they choose Stihl .

Pro arborist of 20 years. I have ms 200t ms 201tc 150t. Two echo 2511tes one echo 362tes and 2 540xp one mark 1 one mark 2. If seconds count on cutting performance then you are quoting wrong. Fair testing is always hit n miss. Reliability is more key when using every day for months if not years on end. My 150t has a drilled exhaust I've had it 6 years not once been back to the shop. That being said I'm religious with maintenance

Hi my dear, have you tried not filling the oil tank completely full to the top. I used to have trouble closing the oil cover until I started not filling it to full. Allow enough room for the cap to enter the tank without having to force out any oil. I have not had any problems with the cap since I began doing it that way. Take care and stay safe my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al
@PlannedMayhem4 жыл бұрын
On a stihl if you fill it pull the bar up (keeping saw on its side) and a bubble will float up giving you a little wiggle room to put the cap back in.
@aldredske61974 жыл бұрын
@@PlannedMayhem :) that's possible. I have never tried that. I will give it a try the next time I fill it. But it doesn't need to be full too the cap to have enough oil if your oiler is set properly. There should always be a little bit of oil left when you run out of gas.

I watched! It seemed to me that the Echo saw had a dumb chain, 8 seconds on the knot and then a clean saw cut, the saw walked very hard. Or was it just a crappy saw ?!

usually i am cutting trees on the ground, but because there is too much rain and water at the moment we do some work with the stihl 201 TCM. i am surprised by the power this small chainsaw has. but the small opening for the oil tank is a very bad idea.
