Check out my first thoughts on the Stihl MSA 220 C Battery Chainsaw. I hope this video is helpful if you are interested in this chainsaw.

I found your second video which led me to this one. My concern is battery life, and long term reliability. I am not totally sold on battery powered equipment yet. I will be looking forward to seeing how this proves out over time. Good video!

I have the 220C about 3 years and have used it quite a lot never have a problem so far. It runs with al AP batteries however i normaly use the AP300S. I use to have it with a 40cm bar now I change for the Light04, 35cm is litle shorter but I got a litle more battery time and if is a ticker log I use the MSA300. I have the 161T, GTA26, 220C, MSA300 and the Trimmer 135 they all great unfortunately the battery technology fail short, I have the batteries 1 AP200, 1 AP300, 3 AP300S and 4 AP500S. In particular with MSA300 if you are going to cut continuos like from a pile of logs you must have 4 AP500S batteries and the charger 500 connected to keep recharging. in overall I can say I am happy they are conveniente nevertheless is a big battery's investment. Power wise the 220C is not comparable with MSA300.

I bought one of these, 2 AP300S batteries and a rapid charger and it cost me $1400 in Australia. First use with full battery and new chain cut 7 times and the battery was flat. Keeps bogging down and requires a lot of cleaning under the cover every use! My MS180's cut a heap more for a 1/4 of the price. In fact for the money I could have bought 4 more 180's and cut a lot more wood. Suitable for small wood only IMO.

Yes is kind different from gas power, but I buy one 220C about 4 years ago and little by little I end up buying the 161T, GTA26, MSA300 and the Trimmer 135, keep in mind chains must be sharp and not put pressure wile cutting, also on MSA 220C I change the bar instead of the rollmatic 40cm I have now the 35cm Light 04, I have the feeling it give me some extra minutes cutting time and if is a ticker log I use the MSA300. All this saws I have I am quite confident I have went beyond manufacturing using recommendations so far never have a problem. I have 4 AP500S, 3 AP300S, 1 AP 200 and 1 AP 300 batteries but yes out in woods couple times I had have to connect the power inverter to the truck battery to continuing charging with AL 500 battery charger. I think the saws are great but yes the battery technology is lacking behind, in my case as a homeowner I am happy.

This is the old model like mine. The new model have the trigger sistem different.

@@ZittleFarms Yes this one is same as mine, I already see the new one and didn't impress me I think I prefer the trigger set up like mine. What I did in mine was change the bar and chain I use to have the same one you have, now I have the Light 04 with 14" length, is a little short but feels little faster and little more battery time. For this new bar and chain I also have to change the chain and chain sprocket, the sprocket was about 9 Euros here.

This saw is junk. I had one for just over a year, it quit oiling the bar sent it off they claimed it needed 'cleaning' yet had to break the whole saw down to do this.. not like I could without voiding warranty. Crap stuff I would avoid stihl in future buy quality like husky instead !
