Your video was the only one out of the major tech channels that actualy reviewed this laptop. After looking up many different models, I decided to settle on LOQ 15i with i7 13620H and rtx 4060, my god this was one of the best choices I ever made. I literally use it everyday with 4 game engines, 3 DAWs, and lots of high-end modeling software (without even counting all kinds of popular games XD); no matter what I threw at it, the LOQ handled it really well!

I was unlucky last year cause I got an older Legion 5 model then just a few days after my unit was on transit/being shipped the LOQ devices hit the market. I could've got an equally good device while saving some money. Glad you like yours though. I must say I prefer the previous models to this year's. Even though Jarrod said the removal of the side vents didn't affect these lower end models I assume it may cause some issues on the ones with more powerful internals.

I see in my local shop different specs from yours, for USD 730: Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS Memory: 8 GB SO-DIMM DDR5-5600 Graphics: RTX 3050 6GB GDDR6 Boost Clock. Is this acceptable for the price or are they short changing me in terms of the lower processor/graphics card? What would you change? Thanks so much.

Good to see the FHD 144 Hz screens have decent colour accuracy compared to last year's LOQ 15/16 but response rate times definitely leave something to be desired and maximum brightness is 50 nits less than the equivalent panel from last years LOQ 15/16.

Aside from downgrading the screen peak brightness by 50 nits and downgrading all USB-A to 3.2 gen 1 (from 3.2 gen 2 in last year's LOQ that 2 out of the 3 USB-A ports it had), by biggest gripe with this updated version is that the memory speeds were downgraded on all versions with intel CPUs except the 14th gen one. (From 5200 to 4800)

Can confirm the battery drain isn't a new issue - I have a 2023 LOQ with the same 3050/charger combination and in some less optimized games the battery drains significantly, even faster than in this video. I'm still happy with the laptop overall though, no other issues.

@Jarrod - would you say the removal of side vents kind of also helps mitigate fan noise since all the noise is shooting out the rear? I think Lenovo is doing these 2024 models good with the removal of the side vents.. like you said, it's super nice to not have hot air blowing on your hands.

Hi Jarrod, So in my region the last gen 4060 LOQ shipped with a 170 watt charger unlike other regions which got a 230 watt one. Could you please run a benchmark or two on your 4060 Loq 16 with the charger which you got with the 3050 LOQ and see if there are any downsides of using a 170 watt charger? And if I were to try someone's high wattage legion charger on the Loq would it be unsafe? We've got used to interchangeable chargers with type c but with laptop chargers It's always scary to use something that didn't come with the laptop.

Have you checked the VRAM temperatures under stress? Many 2023 RTX4060 units are reaching >100 degrees Celsius here easily

thanks for the great video...as always. looks for me a less quality build as last year, the holes at the back looks very cheap plastic and especially with these new "foam" solution...i think over the time foam will burn, wear&tear due the constant hot airflow. they also offer the rtx4050 i513450hx with a 170w adapter seems for me not enough power here...

Hey guys and hello to jarrod. Actually i have a question which i couldn't find any solution anywhere so this is my last try before changing the laptop itself. I bought a asus tuf a15 2023 fa507nv about 2 weeks ago. It always crashes all the time in all of my games and freezes in the windows desktop itself. I did run stress tests , diagnosis , and did a clean install of windows 11 , updated all of the drivers and windows. It is still like that and i'm sure the problem is not from the ram. And the other problem is : my cpu is very normal work and nothing crazy like or gaming or opening many apps , working in high temperatures around 80 to 90 celcius. The laptop always is on turbo mode and i bought a cooling pad for it to reduce the temperature , but the problem of freezing and crashing still remains. Any ideas or solutions for this? Should i refund it? I'm sure the device is new and not a 2 handed.

i just picked up an open box 2023 version with the 3050 for $540(tax included), feel like it’s not a bad deal at that price. haven’t fiddled with it yet but the brightness is very good. a bit heavy but that ok. could realistically get a better laptop for a bit more i think but needed something now

I am really having difficulties deciding between the 2023 vs 2024 version. Any pros and cons for each model? Assuming the specs are the same (e.g. 13500H vs 13450HX and both RTX 4060). Thermals are a huge point for me, as well as display. Thanks for all input and advice out there 🎉

For the same reason they don't allow LOQ to get 64GB RAM even if it supports it as an upgrade option. To keep their other Legion laptops alive

I have a 4050 from last year's model which works great as a work laptop. I liked the ledge they had on the back of the laptop so that's a shame, but otherwise looks pretty solid!

Hello Jarrod, I love your content, it's really helpful, I want to get a new laptop and I am between 2 options : Legion 5 (2022) 3060(140w) i7 12700h battery 80w or Loq 15 (2023) 4060(115w) i5 13500H battery 60w , (same SSD and ram) , which one would you recommend? They are around the same price

20:30 Look at the 4gb 3050 result next to the Arc GPU. It's average is a tad lower but the 1% lows are much better. Look like Intel are still having some driver problems in Cyberpunk. Or for that matter look at the 4gb 3050ti that's just above it, it has 1% lows that are actually better than the Arc GPUs averages while still being a 4gb card.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6, a rather popular laptop, even here in Romania. it has the RTX 3050 GPU, but the small 135w charger it came with cannot give it enough power to run games for a very long time, as the battery drains slowly. I got a 170w charger that does better, but the 230W would be perfect for it

I have Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9, after 3-4 days i found below laptop that dust is outside of fans, i live in place that there is always dust and dog hair around the house no matter how much you clean house, Any advice how to clean without opening? Afraid to open and damage laptop, is vacuum cleaner good from outside with little speed?

Hi, very good test video :) Right now, in my country, the Lenovo LOQ 15 (2024) with i5-13450HX and RTX 4060 is on sale for under 900€. I was doing some research on my own as I heard this config could have problems with thermals. As this test is done with a 3050, i was wondering if someone already got the config with the 4060 and has some insides on that topic :). Also, does the i5-13450HX bottlenecks the 4060 in any kind? Hey man, thanks for the video! I am currently looking for buying a new laptop as my old friend Lenovo Y50-70 has recently gave up. So i am now wondering between Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 with Intel Core i7-13650HX and RTX 4060 and Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16APH8 with AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS with the same video card. The LOQ is around 100 euro cheaper, however the Legion is with 2k 166hz display. What do you think which is the better option? Also any opinions from the comments are welcome. Thanks

Loq amd ryzen 7 7840hs gives you a worse display with 65% sRGB. But the newer 2024 version gives u 100% sRGB. There's actually lots of color missing in the 65% srgb display. Trust me on this one, compared to most common laptops, the 65% srgb display really sucks. So, if u don't care abt display then go for ryzen 7840hs cuz it'a cheaper and better with lower temps.

it feels like 1st April joke compared to 2023 with 4000nvidia. do they release more versions of LOQ over the year? cause everything seems to downgrade instead of upgrade from previous version
