Opening 14 always hits pretty hard. It ends on a high note and refocuses on the straw hats and helped move past the loss of Ace. After all, during that period of time the straw hats were split up for a very long time. Since each episodes were a week away, it had felt like forever and had actually been an incredible amount of time since the crew were last together. That montage of how everyone's lives touched by Luffy and changed for the better essentially also added to that moment of realization for Luffy had that he hadn't lost everything.

I highly recommend watching the Ending songs too!! They're often overlooked but have some of the most beautiful and emotional songs in One Piece. Ending 1 - 18 are the Pre-timeskip endings, then after a while the anime stopped having Ending songs for years which is why you see the Opening songs have become longer around Thriller Bark. They only started doing ending songs again last year, so Ending 19 happens in the 1000+ ep and will have major spoilers for you. Ending 1 "Memories" is arguably just as iconic and nostalgic as the Opening 1 "We Are", it's one of my favourites as well.

Cowboy hat Robin is best Robin. Ps the wholesome sounding intro that shows Ace heading towards his execution (if I remember correctly) aired after the massive earthquake that hit japan back in 2011 (which also prevented a few pokemon episodes from ever airing). The intro sounded cute and upbeat in such a serious and depressing arc of one piece because they were trying to bring some levity in a depressing time in japan.

Fun fact about the third opening, that had a scene of Robin on the Going Merry, heavily implying that she was a Straw Hat. However, this opening showed up during the war in Alabasta, where she was still a enemy to the crew. So plenty of anime only watchers were spoiled when that aired. One Piece opening holding spoilers is a thing that happens a lot, especially in future ones.

true - though also at the point the opening started up she had already saved Luffy, expressed interest in him several times, had refrained from killing Pell (and viewers might have even picked up on her saving Igaram at Whiskey Peak) and was obviously not on Crocs side 100%. So idk if its all that dramatic

@@youtpfpm6097 Do you have any idea how many people watching #14 for the first time ever (as part of the initiation to pull people into watching One Piece) figured out THAT spoiler just based on context? Many. Many figured it out. Yes, they absolutely have spoilers. #12 showed that not only was Buggy and Croc coming back but that Ace was in jail, that Kuma was going to turn back up to beat our asses and that Luffy was running prison break. Those are hella spoilers. The thing is, if you know the characters you can piece that shit together very easily. If you'd watched up to end of Thriller Bark and then watched #12, you get spoiled HARD for what's coming in the next three arcs. Sure, you can't really guess much about Boa, but about the people we know and the situations that are shown? You'd have to be dumb and blind not to figure some of what's coming at that point just based on the opening. And that, my friend, is what a spoiler is - spoiling what's coming next in the story by insinuating or straight up showing what's coming before it happens.

Grateful. *My headcanon re. Robin and hats: before Enies Lobby, her character wears a wide brimmed hat for discretion. I think this is a character choice, one made to assist with flying under the radar. Robin expressly knows she has many enemies and that she is not strong enough on her own. Once she appears to know and be confident the Straw Hats are "friends who are strong enough," she puts less effort into being discreet.

The thing I love about the fifth opening is that it's start is narratively relevant, that opening starts with everyone falling from the sky because this opening happens right after Skypeia.

Haha, I caught it! Hopefully this gets to stay up. My first favorite was op 6 cause of all the power ups when I was younger. One Piece openings are a nice mix of emotions, you wouldn't get this from any other (guy) kind of anime. They absolutely do spoil certain things that happen though, but they give a nice sense of nostalgia and make you cry. Now we are on to the new world! Thanks for the video...and stop!

From the first 14 Openings, 11/14 are my favorites. They are such a jam, but regardless all these songs are top tier. After watching this series for 20-ish years, getting to hear these openings brings back so many memories. Once One Piece is done, I am 100% marathoning all the OPs and EDs.

As I rewatch One Piece I can tell you that most openings after the first few ones kept changing scenes for the same song (I think each opening songs has an average of 3 animation scene changes throughout the arc ), that is close spoiler to the episodes you are watching, it's fun for a rewatch though as I love One Piece opening songs

"We Are" is a tricky one. I love it, but it carries so much meaning. I find it hard to not get emotional sometimes. Especially after watching certain arcs. There are also a couple intros I have a hard time watching. Specifically the ones around the Summit War saga and the time skip. So yeah, the same ones that broke you usually break me. You can see, though, why we suggest skipping the intro until you finish the arc.

We did see more of Shanks Crew in Luffy's flashback. Opening 2 just focused on the 3 core members of His crew: Ben Beckman, Lucky Roux, and Yasopp (Usopp's Dad).
