Suitors are a threat to members of the Cleaver clan in the fifth episode of the revival series on The Disney Channel that debuted Jan. 2, 1985 and features most of the stars of the original Leave it to Beaver series, including June, Wally, and Beaver Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley, Tony Dow, and Jerry Mathers, respectively), as well as Eddie Haskell (Ken Osmond), and others. In this episode, transferred from my Betamax recording of the show, the young daughter of Wally and Mary Ellen -- Kelly (Kaleena Kiff) -- wants to play Sleeping Beauty in her elementary school play, but can't bear to be kissed by the "prince." Meanwhile, Beaver is worried that his mother June will be wooed away by a wealthy admirer.

I’m so glad that Barbara Billingsley revealed what she mentioned to a interviewer one time. She said the only reason she always either wears a string of pearls or high neck dresses was because she didn’t like the indentation in her neck. So cool that she put that real life issue in a reference to her TV granddaughter Kelly.

What a great episode, it really gives a true interpretation about how kids would feel in those situations and there was great respect for all family member, considering back then most kids were seen but not heard. Thanks Scott.

I watched Beaver as a child in the early 70s. Now we watch 2 episodes a day on MeTV. Its so cool seeing the old episodes and then being able to see the "new" episodes. Our KZfaq channel is going to center around creating family memories and this old and new tv series is a great basic roadmap to follow as we create content. Thank you Scott Hetrick for your uploads.

I liked this updated version of LitB, which was on Disney Channel. I was surprised to see George Tibbles as the writer of this show. Mr. Tibbles created MY THREE SONS and wrote its 1st & last episodes, along w/ dozens in between. He was well past age 70 by this time and still writing.

So many people are calling this "The Original Series", as if there was no 1950's "Leave it to Beaver" lol. I remember watching the real original.. original series in the '50's, that was good TV! "Ward", Hugh Beaumont, was a wonderful man and a dedicated Christian. His sincerity shines through. I missed this the first time around, raising a baby with my now late wife back in the early 1980's. It's heartwarming to see them all together again in The Big '80's!

Not aware of anyone calling this the original series - I believe everyone knows this is a Revival series that began with a TV reunion movie in 1983 (which I have also posted here), which is why they are called STILL the Beaver and THE NEW Leave it to Beaver.

If you ask me,I think all of the seasons and episodes of"Still the Beaver"should be dedicated in memory of Hugh Beaumont.the man who played Ward Cleaver.
@shettrick
@shettrick 4 ай бұрын
I understand the sentiment but that would be something that has never been done for any actor connected with any show after they died. Still the Beaver paid more tribute to "Ward" AND Hugh Beaumont than any other series I've ever seen that lost a key actor - minutes of touching tributes and memories to him and dedication to him in first/pilot episode TV movie ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qKipfLCqnqqrnJc.html ), and dozens of warm references to him and many clips of him throughout the series, including an entire episode dedicated to him... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f5qPfLp21K2bfWQ.html

Another great episode from season one and such a touching scene with Barbara Billingsley and Kaleena Kiff with Ken Osmond providing great comic relief just a few moments later. This revival series kind of reminds of the revival of WKRP in Cincinnati series. Critics, who were fans of the original series and purists in the sense that they thought doing a revival series was blasphemous because it could never be as good as the original, missed the point. It wasn't meant to. Both revival series even though they lived in the shadow of the original were still entertaining and had some wonderful moments and good episodes (and a few duds as well, but so did the originals).I look at it as they gave us a few extra seasons of the original series that we would have never gotten because at the time they had run their course. But by bringing WKRP back after about 10 years with some of the original cast (and new characters) and most of the original Beaver cast (with them having kids of their own) after about 20 years you have new content to work with.

You're welcome - thanks for your thank you. If this series or any of these episodes are available on KZfaq or DVD or anywhere else, especially in higher quality, please let me know because I would love to see them myself and I wouldn't go to the very time-consuming trouble to transfer them and post them here for free. But as far as I know, they are NOT available anywhere else. As I digitally transfer them, I can enjoy them myself even though they are not super great quality - it's the actual show and dialogue I enjoy, not the visual quality. But I thought others may be interested in seeing these shows for the first time in 25 years and maybe ever, so I am doing this for all of them - apparently there are thousands who are very happy to see them and look forward to each new episode despite the quality not being perfect.

@shettrick 5 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisBFerguson Thanks Chris. And not only have they never been on DVD, and no plans for them in the future, DVDs are already starting to die out as a format, and who knows if KZfaq will even still be around by the time (and if) ownership issues of Still the Beaver are ever worked out. Maybe eventually if I see that interest and demand remains high for these episodes and the next few dozen I post, I may check into the cost of getting my old Betamax tapes transferred in more professional/higher quality way. I know it would cost at least $900 - $1,000. Then I could put them on DVD and/or KZfaq or whatever is best format at that time. But I don't think most of the thousands of people watching these here on KZfaq really care that much more about the quality - they all watch the original classic series Lave it to Beaver on MeTV every day even though that whole series can be watched in better quality on DVDs and even though MeTV cuts off several minutes of each episode for more commercials, and sometimes messes up the openings.

@shettrick
@shettrick 5 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisBFerguson Maybe. Just 15 years ago MySpace was the biggest media thing on Internet and now it's gone. Internet itself, as far as wide use for video is only about 25 years old and Google, which owns KZfaq, is only 20 years old. Who knows what next new thing will come along and which current things will go away. Hardly anyone even uses desktop computers anymore. Even laptops are fading away. Pay phones and land line telephones are a thing of past. Vinyl albums, audio cassettes were huge when I was a student and now both gone. Betamax and VHS was multi-billion industry from 1970s -1990s and went away quickly. DVDs replaced them and were gigantic for about 10 years but now a thing of past, same thing with CD-ROMs and most video game players. People are even dropping cable and satellite TV services in droves and not even watching programs on a TV as much anymore. Many more examples of technology coming and going, and faster turnover than ever before. We'll see about KZfaq and Internet, both of which have already been around longer than most new technologies of late 20th and early 21st century have lasted, but they are great for now.

@shettrick
@shettrick 5 жыл бұрын
Well, you are certainly welcome to not like it, and I don't think anyone, me included, thinks it is anywhere near as good as the original series 30 years earlier. But it certainly didn't ruin their legacy. Quite to the contrary, it was one of the two highest rated movies on TV in 1983 and so popular that CBS, Disney Channel and TBS spent a lot of money making the movie and 100 episodes of the series. And quite to the contrary about it being a money grab (and even if it was, these people are all actors who need to work -- so who could blame them), they had all wanted and tried to do this for years and were thrilled when it finally happened and they were able to reunite and work with each other again for five years. And at the same time it gave all involved a huge boost to their careers outside of the Beaver world -- I have posted dozens of movies and TV series they each appeared in as a result of renewed interest in them as actors after 30 years, and they have enjoyed doing tours and radio shows to discuss their Beaver characters for decades.
