This is the official Stillerivierstroom video. So many "not very interesting" versions have been put on KZfaq, by well meaning and much loved fans of the song; I decided to re-record the track for a video that tells a story, not just a song with pretty pictures.
I'm no pretty picture myself, but I still have most of my hair, and can still sing .. a little.

I am 51 yrs old. I remember my parents had the Radio Springbok vol. 1 to 6 or more vinyls...cant recall...and this one was one of my parents' favourite songs that they use to listened to. Nick Taylor was a household name in our house next to Sias, Gert, Mynie Grovè, Sonja and many more

Nick, ek onthou jou weergawe van Siembamba uit my kleityd uit. Jy was van toe af van my gunsteling sangers al het jy nie die nodige erkenning van my mede-afrikaners ontvang nie. Toe, weereens met hierdie, Stillerivierstroom, het jy weereens bevestig dat jy 'n befaamde komponis- sanger is. Baie dankie.

Een van my en my ouers se gunsteling liedjies. Ek het nog die LP wat my ouers gekoop het. Daarop is Helena (Blomme Meisie), wat ook 'n lieflike liedjie is. Ons het nog vir Nick en Sias Reinecke (Groep Twee) by Bonanza gaan kyk. Goeie ou dae.

Wow Rupert, that brings back memories! Actually the one you probably remember was a Kingston Trio song “El Matsdor” .. It ended very suddenly. In the gap dead silence before the roar of applause in my ears, I was terrified out of my wits. I think the relief that I hadn’t blown it was the reason I decided to sing for a living. There is an English version of Stillerivierstroom Silent River .. which is actually the original .. but this is the first time I’ve ever recorded it .. some 60 years later 😉

I know one year my brother Mike and I sang Memories are made of this [Dean Martin song] and maybe Tom Dooley, but Where have all the flowers gone was a bit later .. don't think I knew the song then. Memory is tricky at this age .. could be wrong. 🙃

Then maybe Tom Dooley. I remember meeting your Dad Lance,as an elderly gentleman in the mid 1970s.He used to go horse riding with Rosie Lewis, wife of Neville, the portrait painter.
