I really liked this vid Dan. I always wonder if I'm spending enough time trying something, or wondering when to switch it up. I appreciate your insight and find it helpful to hear what others do. I agree... getting skunked is part of the process, and only makes us want to get back out there all the sooner! Thanks again!

Great video! I’ve recently got back into my fly fishing for about 6 months now and I got ‘skunked’ for the first time last weekend and yep - it’s upsetting. I’m gonna try out some of your advice - the leader weight being one that interested me the most. Thanks again for the great advice 👍

I basically have one fly that i use, sometimes 2, at the moment i have no reason to change it because I outfish most people every time, even guys who are trolling. I just sit there, cast out a sinking line with a 4-5 ft leader and unweighted fly, finger roll, pause, when line gets vertical ish, recast, they usually hit it in the middle half of the retrieve, trolling it can also work if you give some action and stops.

Awesome information,still waters can be mysterious,unlike moving water hard to find structure & fishy places,I carry another line,a clear intermediate for fishing over submerged weed beds or structure,tie 2 different colors of buggers & works sometimes,tight lines & bent rods 🤘

You definitely have a good mix of flies. My go to fly in cold water is a white marabou or spey streamer on a sink-tip line. Lake fish cruise all over the place. Downed trees, points, ledges & humps are good places to try. My name's Dan too...
@FlyFishDan2 жыл бұрын

Love the video. I had a question and doing research it’s hard to see. With your flies do you use barbless or barbed flies?
@lloydsumpter7735 Жыл бұрын
I know quite a few stillwater fishers who will painstakingly examine the waters, look under rocks, check the surface for shucks.... then fish a chirominid. Every time. They might have 1/2 dozen rods all set up... they they're ALL set up with indicators for chronie fishing. And they have flyboxes filled with literally HUNDREDS of... chrominids. Weird....

Hey Dan When fish are off the bite and on daphnia do you use blob flies to imitate balls of daphnia?
@FlyFishDan Жыл бұрын
Hey there - occasionally I have used the mop fly and that seems to work well when the bite is slow or off.

Are you fishing the Damselfly nymphs below an indicator or on the sinking line?

I have - it's effective way, especially if you give it a bit of slow movement.

How does air presser hold up in your u boat since its either after ice out or before the pond ices up
@FlyFishDan2 жыл бұрын
If I don't over inflate it by a half pound, it starts to get a bit soft. Sometimes the temp swing is so great - it just turns into a taco tube once the sun goes down...Lol
