Hello, my dear... first of all let me thank you for choosing this great song to react to. There are several reasons I wanted you to react to this special song : First of all, because it's a really beautiful song (musically), but also for the following reason : Last year, when the war in the Ukraine started, I immediately felt I had to listen to this song again, after so many years... and thinking about the lyrics, I have to admit that they haven't lost any actuality, even 37 years after they were written by Sting. And the message is pretty clear : Stop fighting each other because of a different opinion, religion, skin colour, belief, or whatever. War is, was and will never be a solution. We are all the same... or as Sting wrote " We share the same biology, regardless of ideology". These words are so true... we can see all over the world - not onlly in the Ukraine - that greed, power, money, wealth... or simply believing you are better than the others, will never bring peace to the world and among the people on this planet. Every human being should learn from the past and try to do better... WITH each other and not AGAINST each other. If people start thinking this way, it would be a good start to make this world a much better place. Luckily there are still human beings to be found on this planet, who ARE different and who MAKE a difference... and if you find someone like that, it is the greatest gift you could ever get... more valuable than anything else in the world. I know what I am talking about, since I found such a person in my life... and that's YOU, my dear. Having real friends is the most valuable thing, a human being can have... worth more than any money, gold, jewels and crowns together. Вы верно поняли посыл. Война на Украине не по религиозным или национальным признакам идет. Это политическая игра за власть и ресурсы. А страдают обычные люди. Их руками это делают.

So fun fact, the musical theme was composed by Russian composer Sergei Profikiev in 1933. This song came out in 1985, when the cold war was going pretty strong, and leaders on both sides kept doubling down on talking "tough" like they might launch nukes at any moment.

Yeah, the mood in the mid-80s was pretty dire. We had movies like "The Day After" and there was a lot of nasty rhetoric from Reagan and from the Kremlin. There was "The Doomsday Clock" and it was nearly at midnight. It was just a device to set the expectation of nuclear war -- a reflection of the times and people's fears. But it was kinda heavy in those days until Gorbachev came along and things cooled off and the Soviet Union was essentially disbanded.

Более того. Сейчас Стинг снял новый клип на эту песню. Клип снимали русские операторы, монтажеры и артисты в России. И это сейчас, в санкционный период. Ждите этот клип. Его анонсировали на 6 июня, но почему-то до сих пор не запустили.

@@Alewifes_Husbandэто была пропаганда против Совеского Союза. А Горбачев с Ельциным развалили огромную страну на десятки маленьких под руководством США. США нужен был контроль, как и везде! Чтобы по всей планете поставить свои военные базы НАТО. На самом деле сейчас война не с Украиной. Россия защищает свою территориальную целостность. Её снова хотят рассыпать Запад и США. Странно, что вы этого не понимаете.

Hi from Australia. Wow! I haven't heard that for years. It was from the early 80s (I think) he performed it live in Moscow. I think it is very relevant today even though it's in a different time.i hope a lot of people get to hear it -- specially in Russia. Thanks for bringing that back to your audience. I was born in 1956, one of my earliest memories is seeing starving kid's in Biafra on the news, Russian tanks rolling into Poland, Vietnam horrors. It was like an evil carnival of horrors that rolled across the globe -- likely to spring up anywhere at anytime, and it's never stopped..

Конечно, вам же не показывали самолеты США во вьетнаме и био оружие, которое на него сыпали. Не показывали Дамаск с ковровыми бомбардировками и миллионными погибшими мирными жителями. Рабство в США, деление по нац признаку. Уничтожение коренного населения США индейцев. Сколько их осталось? Как они живут сейчас? И многого другого. Чтобы понимать, что происходит в мире, нужно всем интересоваться, а не только новости с телевизора смотреть. Тогда вам станет понятно, почему мир сейчас однополярен. И почему сейчас столько огневых напряженных точек по всему миру. Мир хочет измениться, хочет выйти из подконтроля гегемона. Россия не хочет больше ничего общего с США, не хочет, чтобы его базы были вокруг страны и угрожали им. И Китай больше этого не желает. Мир хочем многополярности, и одинаковых прав без диктатуры Запада и США.

He was talking about the Cold War, MAD and the USSR. Living with the knowledge that at any time you were 45 minutes from all being left of you was a shadow (if you were lucky). A humanist message that says if we love our kids we don’t do war. I wish that one man in Russia would think of this song and just stop it.

I wish the US hadnt replaced the Ukranian govt with a puppet regime in 2014, we were told what the response to NATO expanding would be, we just ignored it.

We used to listen to this at night on the Aircraft Carrier Kitty Hawk in 1985 when we came so close to dropping bombs on Iran. Now they are making that old home of mine into Plow Shears.

Вы везде. В этом и проблема. Ваши авианосцы везде несут смерть. Дамаск тоже вы крыли ковровыми бомбардировками? А за что? Ошибка была. Даже не извинились. Убили 5 миллионов мирных жителей. Просто так!!!! Индейцев вырезали, темнокожих в рабстве держали, вьетнамцев вырезали, Иран, Ирак бомбили, Афганистан уничтожали, Сирия, Ливия. В Африке воюете. Южную Америку высасываете. Мексику превратили в одну большую убийственную улицу. Югославию развалили на несколько кусков и посеяли там национальную рознь, СССР развалили, посеили там национальную рознь. Сейчас Украину накачиваете оружием, чтобы как можно больше славян поубивало друг друга. Везде понатыкали военные базы, по всему миру!!! Где есть США и Англия, там всегда разруха! И это факт! И это кто плохой??? Россия? Вам просто каждый раз придумывают врага в медиа поле. Вы не видете всей картины целиком. Не надо тут писать, чтобы русские увидели этот клип. Русские всё видят не через ваш телевизор, и не через свой. У них хорошо развито логическое и критическое мышление. Включайте логику. И вы всё поймете.

The message is true today. You see no matter the age. We are all someones. I just like today in Ukraine. Have you seen where they're running over family cars with tanks. How could you love your children but sacrifice others in the same manner. Russians can be replaced with other. Who react the same .
