great video, I've made several quilts but never realized a hanging sleeve was so easy... By the way as a great teacher I had once told me "pins are our friends and we don't run over our friends" I've always remembered that since I'm a "pinner"

You can use a blind stitch hem on your sewing machine to stitch the bottom edge of the sleeve to your quilt. Works like a charm 😊

Great video Rob! I have learned to use the blind hem stitch on the machine to sew my rod pocket down. HAND (sewing) is definitely a 4 letter word for me!!!!😉

Rob, how do I add a sleeve to a quilt that is completely done? It's a pleasure to watch your videos.
@marlenesalamandyk8784 ай бұрын
I have done this before. You create your tube sewing right sides together, turn and press. Then line up one edge to the binding stitching and stitch the binding again from the right side of the quilt, catching your sleeve on the back. I like to use the blind hem stitch on my sewing machine to stitch the bottom edge of the hanger 😊. I hope this helps

My quilt already has the binding on! That is what I was asking. Thanks though!!!!

I truly appreciate you and your videos. I watched 3 other videos from other people that was showing how to add a sleeve. I was totally confused by all of them until I watched your video. This was great. Thank you ❤❤

For my door quilts (12" squares) I made 'tabs' for my door hanging. I hang them from a magnetic towel rack that I found at Joann's. I have some with sleeves, but those tabs were a lot quicker and easier.

Cool, I've never seen it done before. I thought about putting 1 on a quilt but I already had the binding on, so I elected not to do it on that 1. Thanks

Do you ever allow extra space for larger rods?
@Carol_Sews Жыл бұрын
Same question. If the sleeve is same size on front and back, the front of the quilt will not hang flat because you will see the roll of the dowel or larger-diameter rod.
@StitchinHeaven Жыл бұрын
yes, you certainly can, this sleeve was 6 1/2" wide you could easily do 8 1/2"

Would this work to make quilted curtains? I’ve got a few drafty windows and think quilted curtains would help me save money in winter

Thank you for your video Rob. I was gifted a wall hanging quilt without the sleeve. I need to add the sleeve in order to hang it. I have an issue with my hands where I am unable to hand sew. Do you think I can make a sleeve as you have shown but adhere it to the back of the quilt with steam a seam 2? Or machine sew it to the back with monofilament thread? Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

I would trade a friend a few dozen fresh baked cookies, and have them hand sew it on for you, the glue won't last for ever, and all other machine stitching shows through on the front side as well.
