I love Rachel from that 1870s Homestead. And she’s real. She tells people this is what works for my family often. People can be so critical. I always adjust recipes for what my family likes. Doesn’t make it right are wrong. I was told you could reuse jars with button lids and didn’t believe them. Then I saw Rachel doing it. I’ve been sneaking veggies in my meals for years. What they don’t know won’t hurt them.

I use and reuse jam jars and all other jars long as they have rubber in them when covets chip inside I put dry stuff in them and lay. Plastic over top and then cover on- if something don’t deal It is refrigerated and used shortly- most jars seal quick

Hey Guys, I don't know what the people were giving you grief about on fb but I am 100% Italian, my dad was born there and my grandparents as well. When I was a kid growing up and my dad was cooking, I would ask him what he was making. On refrigerator clean out days we always had what he called "spaghettini mélange" meaning spaghetti with a bunch of other stuff LOL. Unfortunately, he could never get it just the same because it really depended on what we had in the fridge as to what it tasted like and every time he made it, well, it was different. So, as my dad would have told you "non illigitamus carborundum"! Look it up if you need to, he made me a t shirt that said it LOL. Keep doin what you are doin, we love it!

As for spaghetti sauce not all Italian sauces are not the same, some do carrots ( for sweetness, don't need sugar), onions, celery, & tomatoes or onion, peppers, garlic & tomatoes or how I make it: carrots, peppers, onions, celery, zucchini, yellow squash, garlic, hot peppers & tomatoes. Great info on what plants to use on what ails you. Be Blessed 😊🇺🇲

When I was told that I was having stress panic attacks from working in the industrial world, I decided I needed to make some changes. The medicines that drs. tried to give me had serious side effects and I could not function. I realized I would need to do my own research to discover more natural remedies. Love the tinctures you talked about today. Dandelion is absolutely amazing and when I get a spot of my own I will be growing this myself. Thank you for the videos and knowledge you provide.

The timing of this video is uncanny! I was just deep diving myself into health benefits and medicinal properties of plants. Did you know horseradish has anti-cancer properties?! And I haven't seen any of the homesteaders I watch grow it. And for those who don't like the taste, I am thinking of freeze drying it and making powder to put in dissolving capsules.

Great idea! Also, I just saw a video today about growing tumeric. I picked up a bottle of apple cider vinegar with tumeric and honey from the grocery store. I had originally gotten it to put in my spring water as a drink. Well, Saturday my Brother told me that he has an abscessed tooth or something going on with his gums. He was worried about it being the weekend with no dentists open. So, the only thing I could think to give him was that apple cider vinegar with tumeric and honey. I told him to swish it for about 30 seconds and spit out. He did, with with what looked to be some of the infection. He did it again with the same results. A couple hours later, the swelling was going down!!! He has since gotten antibiotics, but that helped in the meantime. I want to grow tumeric for home remedies, and especially dental issues!

Love yalls videos and love how yall do things and do life in general! I'm so sad about my tomatoes. I lacked the foresight to see things through til harvest I guess. The plants, some of them are underneath an old walnut tree. There are worms that get inside the leaves and tomatoes. The worms cause a blister in the leaves and I'm out there every day snipping them off. Also, this hot white sun heat is frying the flowers on the tomato plants so it's looking like all we are going to get are the tomatoes at the bottom of the plant because everything at the top is just diseased and fried. The Florida weave does not work here with the wild storms we've been getting it's just not secured enough and they blow over anyway. Next year Lord willing, I will not plant tomatos anywhere near that walnut tree and I may just let them sprawl out on the ground if I don't have the money to trellis them up properly. Love from southwest Virginia!

As someone married to the eldest son in an Italian family..... and who had to learn how to make the "meatballs and gravy" before getting married.... don't worry about the Italians and their sauce (gravy). Each family has "the best recipe" so basically there is no defining recipe for spaghetti sauce. It also varies from region to region as it would depend on availability. You make your sauce and call it whatever you want. I've been in Italian gatherings and heard the arguments on who has the best gravy recipe (REAL gravy) and I can tell you that they get heated. Food is super important to them.

I first did this to incorporate more green veggies, broccoli especially, into the diet. But what I do is make basically a meal out of raw broccoli and add it, upto 1/3rd by volume, to the spaghetti sauce. And yes, it does add thickness and texture without tomato paste, a starch thickener, cheese, added fats and meat.

My bell peppers are lush and beautiful, but for some unknown reason they are behind and still don't have fully grown fruit and starting to worry we won't have time for them to ripen to red or yellow.

Our pepper plants are beautiful! But, hardly any peppers. Wondered if heat had something to do with it.
