Topalov and Anand are a hundred years old (each) but that didn't stop them from playing a game of 23rd century chess. The engines were crying, Komodo even committed suicide and Kramnik developed bipolar disorder shortly thereafter. Hope Ben shows that game.

Obviously a few of the kids understand his quirky humor. Good job Mr. Finegold. It's awesome to hear them laugh while learning.

Two thumbs up. Hilarious, even a non chess player might laugh. My one disappointment with Ben is that: I live in Chicago and every time there is a major tourney in Chicago, the tournament listing says "lecture by Ben Finegold". Then I look around in every room where there could conceivably be a lecture, but Ben is nowhere to be found. It's sort of like Ben's humor right?

It seems both the pawns are passed, but the back pawn is enfeebled, in that unless the forward pawn is captured it will take ten moves to promote. Brilliant lecture!

I remember when Ruifeng was 2000 USCF and played in the Arkansas State Championships a few years back. He demolished everyone, even some 2200+ players. Talked to his dad and him for a while there, they're great people! His dad is incredibly supportive! I hope he one day can become a top player in the world!

Ben, such a truth bomb. the older you get the harder it is to pay attention after 6 hours, where the 13 year old isn't feeling tired yet.. I wonder if any older gms have experimented with provigil or other nootropics? Also ben you're the most hilarious chess teacher I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

About the move at 13:05 I think it makes sense in hindsight because you get out of a diagonal where the opposing queen could play some tricks potentially and if Rook G1, King back to H2 and the Rook is worse than it was before so it kinda forces a mini repetition. Definitely a computer move but 21st century kids grow up learning from computers so I guess they have different intuition about the game.

Qe5 trades Queens for black if the king stays on h2 and without queens it is hard to abuse the bad black king position.

I wonder what it would be like if Ben commentated on a live Super GM game, may be alongside Yasser. That should be a lot of fun. Would Ben still joke around like he always does in his inimitable style?! I must say he is so humourous that he would spice up a live commentary .. would love to see him go head to head with Maurice in commentary .. I reckon he would kill Maurice hands down!!
