The foresight of a Grandmaster is incredible. He sacced the exchange because he knew Spencer would be at a specific lecture years later.

Drove a Chevy to play Levi; appreciate the humour, adds pleasantry to lecture where at home I am still present. Keep up the good work.

Mr Finegold is so informative and entertaining. Good thing to drop the "I hate when it happens" running gag just as I started to hate when it happened. But from time to time I like it to be around.

Why is it that I understand these lectures but when I play chess matches online I still find a way to lose
@mychannel5949 жыл бұрын
I do the same thing (I'm assuming you mean you lose when you shouldn't, like to lower rated players, or you make bad moves when you know better). I think it's about powers of concentration; mine aren't strong enough to maintain one hundred percent attention for every move of the game, so I end up blundering somewhere. Or at least that's one of the reasons.

"I hate books; they only teach us to talk about things we know nothing about." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau. When you watch lectures like this you have to understand that this is specifically focusing on one possible problem in your play. The lesson of the lecture is to not have a weak d4 pawn, but is that the reason why you're losing games? Analyze your games, find your mistakes and find lectures that specifically focus on the issues you have

Agreeing with Ben is not the same as finding the moves and ideas he talks about. Terrible.

04:55 "My d4 pawn is protected by a pawn, so I'm good". Not sure if joking as usual or actually made a mistake :P

Ben is rarely mistaken and almost always joking, so I'd bet he's making a joke! Thanks so much for watching our channel, and please help spread the word. We've got a ton of great videos lined up!

I thought so too, just wasn't sure this one time. I'm loving this channel, much of it is over my head, but I'm learning a lot too. Great stuff!

It was a slip of the tongue, not a joke or an error, he was referring to the black d5 pawn.
@JimmyLundberg10 жыл бұрын
I know what he was referring to ;p that's what I meant by 'mistake', but I think he actually said it jokingly.

This guy reminds me of my roomy. Great sense of humor. Plus my roomy is probably 23 something so makes good chess coach. As long as he isn't looking over my shoulder berating me while I try push wood on FICS... lol :cheers:

I always hang all my pawns starting with the a or h pawn so none of them are ever isolated, then when I have 2 pawns to 8 I resign since I can't have an isolated pawn, that would be terrible

If someone takes your king and u can promote a pawn, can u promote it to king nad avoid losing the game?
@shawnhaferkamp859910 жыл бұрын
In chess, we don't ever take the king. When the king is attacked, and the attacker can't be blocked, taken, or the king has no where to move safely, then you are checkmated and lose the game. Cheers!
@sameash31532 жыл бұрын
@@shawnhaferkamp8599 You can take the king. If the king is in check and you make an illegal move, taking the king wins the game.

Why assume everything should be free? You going to pay their bills for them? The internet is not all about getting things for free. It's a great place to find free stuff, but it's just as much a business as it is a charity.
@GuitarSlinger211210 жыл бұрын
"I don't assume everything should be free. It should be shared for free." only on discussions of politics or religion can something so incredibly stupid be spoken. Truly.
