Stock Screening Methods with Tradingview

If you want to be a succesful investor it's important to have a strict strategy to follow.
And then you need a stock screening method that works well.
My favorite is to use my stock screening methods with tradingview.
It makes my work a lot easier and I save many hours each month.
Tradingview has a fantastic free version.

At 9 minutes and after - I think that was awesome for me - I always used 1 watchlist . . . now I know I can ceate multiple lists and name them and that is very cool. Thanks

This is one my Go-To-Videos when still getting a hang of trading trends and momentums in the stock market.. thx for great content! If i may humbly suggest you might do a short series looking into your different screening setups for different kind of trades, giving a bit more in depth and specific input on philosophies of trades aswell as the funtioning of screening parameters in tradingview.. ok i can see thats gonna be hard to make into a short series, lol. Anyways have a good one and thx for your content once again🔨📈💸

In the top menu above the screener to the right there is a menu with the names of screeners. If you push that you get a drop down menu where you can "save as"

Do you create a new watchlist everyday that you you trade? How often should you update your watchlist after creating your first list? Do you use the same strategy in terms of criteria for finding new stocks each time? Do you ever remove stocks from your list and replace them with new ones?

Hi Jesse, I'm a bit of a longer term investor. But every weekend I'm making a watchlist for my paid subscribers in Denmark so I know what I will be looking for to maybe buy over the next week. I'm working with a trend system giving all stocks red, yellow or green light, and my strategy only allows me to look at "green stocks".

On e question though, if you ALREADY have a list of stocks, can you use this list and screen it for critiria of your choice? Or do you have to screen first and then save results to a list? Screening within an existing list would be very useful, but could not find a way to do it

I was researching for Tradingview screener cuz it seems the platform where you actually set the values is clearly unfinished. The fact it is like that for over two years I won't go with this product to trade for sure. I'm taking about things what you just experienced as well, not being able to set sma and such....

Hi Richard, If you press on the tab just left of the "Filters tab" (you find it almost all the way to the right) you can see on the top it says "Save screen as". If you can't find just write again.

@@Polettie The screener? Yeah me too. But I also go through around 1000 stocks manually 1-2 times per week to find good candidates for my danish paid subscribers.

Very helpful video, thanks. I watched this about a week ago and clicked on your link to subscribe but I am having problems with it. I want to do a stock scan of UK stocks at around 08:05 UK time just to see which ones are gspping up but the results that appear are not even close to real prices. Do Tradingview not do intra-day scans or something? It wouldn't be so bad if I could just contact them to ask any questions I may have but they don't have any contact details. I read somewhere that paying members can but I am on the Pro version of it (the 30 day trial though)... I guess they want me to pay and then contact them? On top of that I can't even field any questions on the community chat thing because I don't have the minimum 3 'recommendations' or something. Very disappointed with it so far. I even just checked it a minute ago for the top gainers on the LSE and that was all totally inaccurate. Sorry to bombard you like this! Your video was very helpful and concise. Just did not know who else to ask.

Sadly you can't. Tradingview does not offer index specifics. But you can screnn for stocks above a certain marketcap to make sure you get the large ones.

If you push the button with the name of the screener, then in the top of the drop down menu you can save the screen.

Has anyone noticed that while the TradingView chart data is live while the screener data is delayed by a few minutes?

@@BuildingFreedom It's such a shame because I need live or at most 1 minute delayed updates if a stock starts moving intraday. I absolutely love the platform and would pay the monthly fee with a smile, but a delayed screener is a deal breaker and I can't find anything else other than Trade Ideas which is super expensive.

@@BuildingFreedom I saw that as an option. Here's why I didn't. I have my monitor where the screener is at the bottom and the chart above it. The chart is running off the Cboe BZX data and that is pretty much up to the second accurate. So the problem isn't the data feed. The problem is that when I watch the scanner, the last price and percent change differs from the chart. The chart is accurate and I've confirmed it based on my Sterling Trader data feed. So the screener is running behind and not because of a data issue. If it were a data feed issue the tradingview charts would also be inaccurate. I hope that makes sense. I've contacted their support but I'm not holding my breath. Pity cause I would 100% for certain become a paying customer if the screener data wasn't so delayed.

@@RegScheepers Ok. Yes that is an issue that should be adressed. I'm sorry I can't help you here. I'm also trading Forex, but it is on daily and 4H time frames and I never use the scanner for it.

At 7:29 the filter appeared to ask for a value... does anyone know how it's possible to use this filter to find instances where the price moves above the MA rather than moves above a value? Feels like this must be possible haha

Hi, yes no problem. In the filter menu you chose the menu "all" at the top. Then you search for "last". That is simply the last recorded price. Then you click at the menu to the right of "last" saying "below". You click the arrow and chose the option "crosses up". To the right of that is says "value". You press the arrow there and chose the moving average you want. Then you get an alert when the price crosses up through the MA. I hope it made sense.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood you. You mean a list of stocks you have created your self? Juster hoover over the list and a "X" appears to the right of your curser. Press the X and the list is deleted.

There is no facilities for indian nse F&O Stock filter.

No, I can see that no indian stocks come up in the screen. Try to contact Tradingview to see if you need to buy som extra data.

Trend on 4H chart is the best trend guide for majority of forex traders( if one keeps trades for 2-5 days. By the time trader realizes that trend on daily chart is up, market has already gone up about 3-5 days & if you ask supercomputer for the mathematical odds, computer tells you that odds are negative right from the start. Another reason is that trend on 1H chart can flip on A dime & your money is gone.Trend based on the last 5-10,four hourly candles has enough players behind it so that it would not flip on A dime, so trader has decent chance to make something without buying overpriced merchandise. Seek your wisdom?

Not a good video. No planning before filming reveals gaps in the knowledge of the platform he is using. An example is not knowing what value to put under the "Simple Moving Average (200)".

This is useless. You don't say anything! High market cap? why? Dividends! Why? You answer with a commercial to another useless video. All this is fluff and no substance. You don't explain why you are limiting in this way!

I'm not sure what you are complaining about. I have tons of videos under my "Learn my strategy" playlist where I explain in details how I invest. I think there are 20 videos or so about it now and with links to the indicators, settings, criterias etc. So I'm sorry that I couldn't put my 33 years of stock market experience into a 30 minutes easily digested video. But you could consider doing like hundreds of others here on my channel and actually ask me for specific details instead of just calling it useless and "fluff with no substance".
