Good stuff guys, I would like to see more info in the evolution of graphite shafts and compare early versions against modern versions. You mentioned that OEM shafts are better built now but how so and why?

Recently shaft brands have upped their game regarding their “stock” shafts AKA free shafts that come with OEM drivers. I believe this is due to the backlash that came 5-10 years ago when people started realizing the dirty game equipment companies were playing where they would pay shaft companies for the right to put the shaft companies name on a shaft the equipment company had made for $3.00. Mitsubishi has been one of the only brands that refused to do that and made all their shafts in house. Also of note, Ping shafts and Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO have always been the exception and making stock shafts that are as good as aftermarket.

That CK Orange is tricky. I’ve seen authentic aftermarket real deal etc etc and the K is Orange and they only have one band of orange with more visible carbon fiber extending up beneath the grip

Question about Tensei AV Raw Blue. The genuine aftermarket version is labeled 65-X for instance. Taylormade has a 60-X version that cannot be found anywhere on Mitsubishi's website. Is this a made-for stock model?

when he says OEM stock (red Ventus) 4:50 he means "made for" it's not a true OEM. Made for means bulk buying by the clubhead manufacturer. Made for are not bad shafts but watered down version, less high-quality materials are used and the tolerances are much wider (weight, flex kick points).

wait! with the ck orange shaft one of them is the ck PRO and the other one is the normal ck so they don't compare. How can you tell on the normal CK version of the shaft?

You might to mention that people should be advanced in their swing before they go for a fitting. Because they they do more lessons, their needs will change and they will have to start all over. And most but your best golfers will be on a bad swingday 7 out of 10 times and the last thing you want to do is get fitted for bad swing. Get the basics down on your swing before wasting time getting fit. Now there are those that have had the same swing forever and have no desire to change it. by all means, get fitted for that swing. A good fitter will recognize serious errors in most peoples swings and highly recommend addressing them before getting fit.

I just want to hear from relatively consistent players with a 90mph swing speed who actually made a switch to an aftermarket shaft in real life. Is that so hard? Either the shaft companies are doing a very poor marketing job by not providing such testimonies or it simply does NOT help the vast majority of average golfers.
