Aww, how really good and confident and good man you are! With all those little baby chicks! I am a worrier, so I would be a nervous wreck, doing this. Always wanted to bring up fluffsters and did look after them for a few weeks on a Welsh farm, as a child, however, they all had me exhausted! And wanted attention, all the time, intense. I never lost one, but was exhausted and they go very jumpy and leggies grew very quickly. So juggling and hand yo eye co ordination, is extremrly imperative! They love baby wotms too after a few days, so it is not for the squeamish of wriggly worm forroging ppl xxxx

I'm a vegetarian and recently I watched a video showing how certain supermarket chains treat the animals they farm (specifically chicks). Or at least how an extension of them treats them very badly. For the sake of profit. Broke my heart. Can't eat eggs anymore. Until I farm them just like this. How much care and consideration; it was a pleasure to watch.

Great comment...now hear me out a bit.... let's look at the reality. Supermarkets don't raise chickens....chicken companies raise chickens and sell to supermarkets. There are a million different videos out there depicting the horror of cruel animal handling practice....these are agenda based documentaries meant to discust us into thinking that all chicken operation are horrible and cruel....I assure you they are not. You should see my video on how a hatchery works and how a commercial chicken house works...it's pretty amazing and not cruel at all. I'm glad ya enjoyed the video...I care deeply for my animals for sure. They live the best life possible with one bad moment...we should all be so blessed

My Dad bought chicks every year at Easter. I took care of the chicks. My Dad built a coop outside that had a cover on it. It was a stationary coop. After they got out there dad cleaned and put new straw out and meal worms and I fed them sratche food and oyster shells when they were able to start laying. I loved that job. My first school skirts were Chicken Feed sacks, they used to use material for the bags of feed.

It also helps if you put place a cardboard or two under your food and waterer to avoid food and bedding from getting into them. My grandma and grandpa had a regular brooder house for all the chicks when they first came (in Wisconsin) with a door that opened to the outside where they had put up snow fence to allow the chicks outside when old enough, but too young to join the regular flock. I used large marbles in my waterers to keep the little one from drowning. Have had chickens, guineas, turkeys, ducks, geese and even a 1993 Great Flood Rescue pair of Pheasants from a family in the Mo Bottoms area between the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. The kids were in 4-H back then and my son had the Grand Champion Market Bird Champion that year! Been involved with the birds since I was 1.5 years old with my Grandma and still have them today 66 years later!

Thumbs up on the heat plate. no more firehazards. I like to have the back of my plate lower then the front. The birds can run under the plate easier that way and then move back to where they are comfortable.

I looove this animals. The are profitable in every way. You can grow them and eat them You can make a business out of them. You can make the sawdust with their poop for compost. You can have eegs. You can also clear out some land with them from weeds. They are noble, beautiful, don't meed to much space and get very happy when their owner treat them well. This animals are God blessing to humanity

Tell you the truth I've always wanted the chicken as I pet my whole life. So now I'm educating myself so when I get to Florida I can have a pet chicken I was surprised to find out they live for about 20 years. I'm so excited now

I have a pet chicken right now. Her name is Noodles. (Chicken noodle) she stays inside with me. She sleeps with me & everything. She's my best friend & super smart. When you get them when they're lil fuzzy peeps like this, they grow very attached to you. Noodles is a black Silkie. She's very little & peep fuzzy. She loves baths, & being blow dried she enjoys even more. She's super snuggly. I hope you find yourself a chicken friend. 🖤

@@avery3613 there's no way to be able to tell until they're laying or crowing. I had to get my Noodles after they saw she laid & knew she was a girl. Silkies are weird like that. The other chickens they know right away.
