Hate that im an esthetician and that in my school they told us essential oils, expensive products, and excessive amount of steps in a routine was good for the skin. Dr dray u really taught me a lot, i was spending stupid amounts of money in skincare that was not bringing me any benefits. Thanks for all the vids!

Some people do seem to have skincare routines that look like they'd take 45 minutes and about 20 products. Essential oils I find rather irritating to the skin. Nice to put on a pillowcase or something, just not on my skin

I think 10-20 years ago medical grade products used to have some interesting molecules, or in higher concentration. But with brands such as TO and the popularity of Asian skincare a lot of actives are now available in easily available products. Although for deep care, the high concentration peels, and of course the luxury feel I'd go to an esthetician.

When I worked at a beauty supply shop I never cared much for Dermalogica and surprisingly neither did aestheticians/dermatologists who would come in. Their biggest gripe with it (Other than the ridiculous cost) was that a lot of their products contain essential oil, plant extracts or fragrances and that it just isn't what it used to be back when it was first founded. Interesting to hear that straight from aesthetician and dermatologists and what a relief that good, reliable skin care is often much easier and cheaper for all of us 💙

I am 44 years and I would never ditch my vitamin c serum. I suffer from hyperpigmentation, sunspots ect . I have tried every vitamin c serum out there and wasn’t until I tried the OBAGI vitamin c serum that I saw results. I use the 20% and Apply only in morning. I follow up with a peptide cream and my sunscreen as usual. It’s faded my hyperpigmentation and and even reduced fine lines. Wish it wasn’t so expensive, but a little goes a long way. I keep it in its box in a dark cupboard, but I will say I have got 10 months out of one bottle.

CeraVe has an oil free pm lotion - not sure about their other products. If I have clogged pores on a certain part of my face - I prefer to use glycolic pads at night and let it dry and leave it alone and just use an eye cream. Retinoids may help too at night. During the day - non comegenic/oil free serum and spf. I also like glycolic face washes. A benzoyl peroxide face wash works well for me when my skin gets more oily. I hope you find a good dermatologist for more advice.

I’ve never heard Dr Dray mention Biore UV SPF 50+ aqua rich watery essence. I have never seen it in a store , but you can get it on YesStyle and other sites like that for under 10$. It’s amazing! The texture is so light , it has no smell and it goes on under makeup beautifully. I get mine on eBay 5 bottles for 20$ 😀 Never used another sunscreen like it…no white cast either! Feels almost like a gel moisturizer.

While I don't necessarily disagree on using body lotions in place of facial moisturizers, I recommend people to check what's in their body lotions and do test swatches before applying directly to their faces. This comes from personal experience where I ruined my skin by rubbing it on my face (not immediately, but it got much worse over time and I did not introduce new products to my skincare routine), and it took a few years for my skin to recover. Watch out for irritating ingredients like fragrance and make sure to not only test it on your body first, but also on your neck or to a less sensitive part of your facial skin before using regularly. It never hurts to be patient and careful

My tried and true facial moisturizer is the CeraVe moisturizing cream. I love the finish way more than any moisturizer aimed towards the face. It’s a matte finish that doesn’t look drying.

Great suggestions. I use A&D ointment on wounds (also good on chafing). Seems to heal them well. It’s one product I find the brand name is better than store brand. Petrolatum is the base but it’s sold as a diaper rash cream so look for it with the baby products.

I tell my boyfriend to put moisture on his face all the time after shaving because he gets really bad razor burn. He says it'll make it worse. Well guess what the cerave lotions never let's me down. It worked and he doesn't want to admit it. He thinks skincare is a gimmick. 😑
@icedcoffeemondays
@icedcoffeemondays 2 жыл бұрын
I know how you feel, my father also thinks it is a gimmick. But, the CeraVe lotion does help a lot with razor burn. For example, my uncle the other day came to me asking if I had hand sanitizer to put on his face because of razor burn. He said it would overpower the burn with more burn. I told him to never do that again and I took out the CeraVe Lotion and told him to apply it. Sure enough, it instantly relieved the burning and irritation. He was amazed and took photos of it to buy it.

No alcohol denat. which i can't tolerate and no white cast. It is dewy but not like disgusting greasy. Soothes the skin and didn't clog my pores. 💜 Great vid Dr. Dray!

Digression : But I also recommend using a leave on anti-dandruff product. Has saved my life (to be a bit dramatic) while trying not to wash out my hair color faster than necessary. There are fragrance free ones. Relives itch and actually help clean the scalp a bit, unlike dry shampoo.

@@barbieblue3336 It's just why I bought them. But I would recommend them to people who don't too. The only one I use that I know is sort of available outside of the Nordic countries, if you order online, is from a brand called SIM Sensitive. It's a fantastic brand though. I also know that The Inkey list (a brand I personally don't like, but everyone else does) has a salisylic acid scalp serum. Philip Kingsley has one that should be available internationally that's almost fragrance free ?) as far as I can remember. With pircono lactone or however you spell it 😂But just look around the internet and local pharmacy/ drug store! Salisylic acid serums for the face, can also be used on the scalp in my experience.

I love Cetaphil intensive Healing Lotion for the body with ceramides. I was wondering if it would work for face and so I tried it. It works so well especially right after a shower. It includes all the same goody ingredients as CeraVe and other expensive face creams, like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and amino acids. Double duty and makes my routine effective and super quick. Saves a little money too. Glad you addressed this issue. Simple is awesome.
